Happy Global Mental Health Day 10/10! This video is about my perspective on why I chose to live a boring life ( boring defined by our society). There are a lot of pressures from our society, who want us to be successful, to work for the best company, to study at the best school, to make more money, but this is not for me. Coming to realization with this, makes me more content about life than ever before. How about you? What kind of lifestyle do you prefer?

Thanks for sharing! Very relatable and I agree that many of life’s simple pleasures are underrated. I read about a story about a guy with a high paying job. Can’t remember details but it’s a stressful job and he barely had time for his family. Later on he quitted the job and worked as a storeman (something like that), adopted minimalist lifestyle. Now he had time for family and could get by just fine. Stories like his and yours are inspiring. Thanks for sharing. 😊

Introverts' typical lifestyles that make us really comfortable and happy are usually seen as boring by others. When seen by another introvert, it'll never be deemed as boring. The reaction would typically be like, "Oh, that's me too!", or "Yeah, I like doing that too!"

KK we all have times in our life we say I have a boring life . I believe your life to you is far from boring . When a person makes a choice and is happy with it, that person does not have a boring life . If I was in your place many of your task or choices would be boring but each of us make a choice on the things we want to do . You are a beautiful model if you choose . I enjoyed the video even tho I don’t agree it should have been titled boring life, however it is a catchy title that draws attention to your choices ! Great job !

Thank you for sharing. My son and I are living a similar lifestyle at the moment because of the pandemic. He is home schooled for now . We avoid crowds and do things mostly with ourselves.It really allows you to enjoy the simple things.I too have owned Mercedes and Porsche, worked as a director of nutrition for a city school system. Those things are nice but they require high maintenance I often wonder if our things sometime control us. So I had a thought. Travel back to Singapore to see how my son enjoys beautiful Singapore. If he does,which I think he will,sell our house and purchase a large boat for us to live on in the Marina Sands area. I have convinced him to live on a boat ,so we are halfway there.I could purchase a large boat pre owned for much less than owning a house. Just a thought.
@TheKrazyKoala3 жыл бұрын
really? you can live on a boat in the marina bay? wow ... where are you now?
@jeromestavros3 жыл бұрын
You sound very naive and unfulfilled despite saying that material things don't matter and that you're "off that". I can tell by the way you write, you are not. You just say you are. Living on a boat in Singapore? Do you know how much that would cost? I still think materialism has a hold on you, something happened and you have lost some wealth, hence the need to start living simply. Be honest with yourself and work from that point, not creating an alternative reality. I'm sorry if I called you out but it is very disingenuous of you
@georgeanddaddecker75633 жыл бұрын
@@TheKrazyKoala Yes. If you are mechanically inclined, you can purchase a 50 foot power boat manufactured in the 1980’s or 90’s for approximately $50,000 usd. You will have to perform some maintenance and do some possible repairs. Anyone who has any boating experience is aware new or used , you always have to perform maintenance on a boat.This type if boat would have about 800 approximate square feet of space in the aft cabin configuration. Then you would have to pay monthly or seasonally dock fees which are usually charged by the foot per boat. Then you would have your cable, satellite, water, and electricity usage fee. Depending on the marina, the annual cost after the purchase price of the boat and it’s maintenance, you would incur $8-10,000 yearly dock fee. So for the first year potentially $60,000 and then $10,000 usd a year to live comfortably on the water. Many people in the world are moving aboard boats to avoid the expense of landed houses that average $2 million. Not to bad , huh? I am fortunate that my family has always owned boats so that gives me an advantage to have the ability to repair them. In addition I have a captain’s license and can operate up to 120 foot boat commercially.

Don't worry about a boring life! It sometimes better to have a boring life rather than a fun life because at least in a boring life you will have much less trouble. The more friends you have, the more trouble you might have if your friend's aren't good people to begin with. On top of that, having a lot of friends also pressure you to spend lots of money with them to have fun together. So it's better to focus on putting yourself first before others. I also prefer to date and marry women who are boring herself haha. That way, we can spend a lot of time alone together without listening to other's opinions about us.

Based on what you said, I share a lot of your values (not the minimalism part though). It takes a strong person to live out his or her life based on these non-materialistic, non-elitist values in a modern, constantly changing society like Singapore, but it can be done as long as you are confident about who you are and do not let the outside world be your judge. You are your own best judge of the person you want to be.

Well said! 👍🏼 coincidentally Archbishop William Goh’s homily today was very similar. “It is beautiful relationships that make life meaningful and happy. Happiness is not about how much money we have, what positions we hold in life, how powerful we are, what glory and honour people bestow upon us, what achievements we have made and the trophies we have earned.”

Btw, Singapore is one of the most expensive places in the world for purchasing or renting city area house. So I feel that it is almost impossible for low cost (even average cost) minimalist living if u live in a high rise city condominium with super good view as yours. It's sure damn expensive. So I would like to say that yours is more accurately depicted as "minimalist, simple, ordinary and boring lifestyle BUT with very high cost housing".

In this day and age most want validation from others, conform to society and just run the rat race. The ideal way is to find the balance and know when it is time to stop and smell the roses. But is human nature to want to be better then the other fellow, keep chasing if not you are left behind. So the bottom line is what you want at that phase or circumstance in your life, it could be food/money when you are only meeting daily needs, it could be aced degree/exam when you are a student, it could be car/housing/career when you just enter workforce, children when you just married, accumulate enough to retire, etc. Do all that and remember what are your needs, not what other/society perceive.

If you are alone and have no one else, if you don't spend time at work you have no one to spend the time with so how can you miss out on being with others because you choose to be alone? ;) lol. Therefore my theory that it is most important to spend life with another person or people is important in life:)
