About Me.
In 2018 I decided to stop working for someone else full time and pursue my dream of building my log home and starting a small farm in the Ozark mountains. It's a dream that I have had and have been working towards for over 20 years, and due to life changes and unexpected events, I decided to make a leap of faith. This journey will not be without its challenges and setbacks, but I will continue to push forward each and every day to make this dream a reality. I try to upload videos 3 days a week but working mostly alone I am always pressed for time.
You can also follow me on other social media as well.

To me, the "gaps" are what make it a log home & give it that hand-hewn character we all love. Super glad you chose to go this route instead! Wow, I knew your home was big, but I didn't realize it was 4,000sf. Maybe you can use some of the extra logs to make an attached garage? My current home doesn't have one & I really wish it did.

@hickoryridgehomestead9177

It takes about the same amount of logs but much more skill/talent to do full scribe and a lot longer process. Butt and pass isn’t as elegant but goes up much faster.

Did you bolt or spike them together, down through the logs that butted up against each other? Or just lay them in there? Frost movement may be an issue. I myself am building a 20'x20' vertical or stockade type..off grid...way off grid...
@hickoryridgehomestead9177
@hickoryridgehomestead9177 2 жыл бұрын
The logs are spiked together with #4 rebar every 2 feet. Each concrete pier goes below the frost line and has #5 rebar sticking out of the top. The bottom log was lowered over the rebar . The rebar was then cut off about 5 inches long and bent over with a sledge hammer, pinning the bottom log to the concrete piers the weigh over 3000 pounds each.
