Nothing but respect for this guys honesty. I am sure he will be happy with the Porsche. Tough enough that those of us who have waited for production to catch up but then you hear about the bad dealer experiences it is just a reminder to walk away before you give them your money. But having said that there are some good MSRP dealers who are straight up good guys. Having a salesman who knows WTH he is talking about without BS seems to be harder to find but they are out there.

I purchased my C8 at MSRP from a dealer that got around 7 allocations per year. It took me 10 months to get delivery. I just love my C8. It is so much fun to drive it. ✌🏾🙏🏽

I had about the same. I paid $750 over list and took about 9 months. I got a 3lt, z51, lift, mag, HTC. I do love this car.

I was TOTALLY treated very well. And yes, it is a CHEVROLET, I went in EYES WIDE OPEN what that would mean. If I were to go to PORSCHE, I would FULLY expect a different experience. The C8 has been the BEST new car purchase Ive ever experienced. I 100% agree on the price GOUGING being allowed, I think THAT trickles down through the rest of the buying experience. MAybe that is why I feel the way I do as I actaully paid $500 UNDER MSRP technically. I was price protected from the MARCH 2021 MSRP $1000 price increase. Its the SALES PROCESS that SUCKS, for the most part. The car experience has been TOP NOTCH. From Ron Fellows Owners school/class, to tracking, to joy rides, mountain runs, shows, etc etc, so good!

Yeah it's due to private owned dealerships trying to get the most out of every deal. Totally agree. It is a great car. And I don't really care about the old coffee and popcorn if I'm getting a deal. But it felt more like I was pushing salesman to get a car than they were pushing me to buy a car. I don't like losing that control on the deal. I just got fed up with it. I'm glad you got one and other who have posted. I do have new found love in the Cayman gts but corvette c8 is still sexy as hell

Chevy sent a letter to dealers threatening to pull their license to sell Corvettes if they were charging significantly over MSRP, looks like it didn't do any good.

Not true. Never happened. Dealers are independent business and GM can't tell them what to do.

@@Ringmaster30 They certainly can and will but it's more of a publicity stunt. To actually pull their license would lose them a bunch of money. Having worked for a well known Japanese brand I've seen first hand the crap the dealers go thru.

Have you never heard of the law called "Retail price maintenance"? The FTC comes down hard on manufactures telling independent dealers what to sell their products for. And BTW the fines are trippeled.

The only thing the GM letter threatened was that if cars sat on dealers lots too long (due to charging high ADMs) that said dealer's allocations would be cut do to the fact the dealer was not able to sell the cars quick enough. At no time was a threat ever made to cancel dealer franchise contracts. There is no such thing as a "dealer license" BTW.

$100,000 for a BASE model?!?!?!?! I paid $79k for a well equipped 2LT Coupe. The front life is NOT needed. MAG RIDE has always been SEPERATE in C8. It was $1895. NO, NOT $93k. You are talking about YOUR build. your $93k is by CHOICE.

That was with medium option seats, museum delivery, stingray r, blacked out interior, orange seat belts and some smaller ods and ends. Of course z51, magride and had added the lift system.

We were blessed with finding, on 08/10/23, the exact C8 I wanted to order on a local dealership’s showroom floor. A 2023 HTC, 3LT, mag ride, front lift, performance exhaust, red calipers, front splitter, low rear spoiler, black exhaust tips, carbon flash nacelles, mirrors, top, door handles, and grill. We paid msrp, under 100k, it’s the best car this 75 year old has ever driven. It had 5 miles on it and we put 2,205 miles on it before parking it for the winter in late October. We love it, and are looking forward to many trips in it.

Add to what all you had to say and then if you research the C8 it is in the top 10 of the most unreliable cars on the road. Check Please I'm out of here in regards to Chevrolet. Don't need a headache that costs over $100,000

Good news is...what goes around comes around. I worked at Chevy Engineering where the Corvette was developed...automotive engineer. If you think that GM corporate gives a rip about anything other than profit, you are whistling dixie. GM went through a period 10 years ago where they laid off 30% of their engineers who design their cars. They let their dealers run free. Its the wild west. They would rather not control their dealers and let them f the public as long as every model Corvette they make is sold and GM gets its profit. So here's the story. You want a fancy car? Don't buy a Corvette or a Porsche. You can buy a pretty loaded Lexus ES350 or IS350 with much better build quality than a Corvette for $50K or half the price of a Corvette. You will get fewer tickets, cheaper to insure and will be more reliable. Never respect a person or a company that disrespects you.

That last sentence is how I feel exactly. Why should I give them 100k of my money to be treated like trash. I love this porsche. Maybe a 911 coming soon to join it. But I've never driven anything so easy to drive in my life. It seems almost bored and begs to be driven.

It's hard to explain to corvette guys my love for the Cayman. 😁 can't see past horsepower. There is something special about how the Cayman drives. It's honestly hard not to speed and take every corner full out. The car begs to be driven...

It literally took me two weeks to understand the Allocation/Dealer/Corvette purchasing "system" from a buyers perspective. You have the GIANT TWO (Kerbeck-Ciocca and MacMulkin). After that there are 3-5 BIG dealers wrt Corvette allocations. You then have 20-30 good sized, another 80 with ok annual allocations, then the rest. If you wanted one for MSRP and did not mind waiting, one of the BIG or GIANTS were the way to go. Plopped down a deposit in MAY 2020, took delivery in JULY 2021. NO REGRETS. I TOTALLY get that it is a frustrating process. But, the information is out there on how to maneuver through it.

Save your money go to your local dealer and pick your car up from them when it comes in! Drive the car down to Bowling Green and enjoy the ride! I'll be the first to admit that I was lucky ( I received the only one that the dealership got that year ). There are honest dealers out there! You must seek them out!

Wow! I had the complete opposite experience. I was trying to get a new Porsche 911, but I was told I had to option the car up at least 40K over the base price or they would not even consider my order. I was quite bent. Then I saw the C8 launch & the next am I put a deposit down…15 months later I paid msrp for my C8 HTC. My dealer even offered to connect me with someone willing to pay me 40k to take my spot. I still want another 911, but I love the C8.

Bad porsche dealer. Mine said msrp off website but 4 month wait for build is all. He did say they were getting an insane amount of corvette people though and c8 delays have increased their sales around the world.

Talk about someone who doesn't know what he's talking about. The idea that Porsche options are cheaper is ridiculous. Mag ride was never standard with Z51. Reality is that a comparably equipped 911s is about $50,000 more. A 2LT with z51, mag ride, front lift, 20 spoke black wheels is $85,000. Two day old popcorn is your most important point??

Think you missed the point of the 2 day old popcorn statement... 100k base model and 200k z06... those are porsche prices, not chevy prices. If i pay 100k to 200k on a car i expected to be treated like it. Not like i was. Popcorn is just the start of that bitch. and maybe just those options. But 85k isn't what you'll pay. 7000 to 8000 in taxes and title and license... your back up to 93k plus. Plus not considering anything else. The little details is what makes the car yours. And 911 isn't a mid engine... price a new cayman. Oh plus we can't forget about waiting 2 years or paying another 10k. So a 911 T or Cerra is possible actually.

@@OnlinecarshowNet1 Taxes and license fees apply to every purchase and the more expensive the car, the higher the taxes. A lightly equipped 718 GTS 4.0 is @$105,000 compared to a 2LT at $85,000. A comparably equipped 911 vs a 3LT is @ $50,000. Even at $10k over, the C8 is much cheaper than either alternatives. You're going to be waiting for a 911 and paying over MSRP.

I'd still go c8 over mustang. The porche I bought was a huge mistake. They don't honor warranties like chrevrolet. Will never own another porsche. I had an old mustang gt that went 260k miles though. So not putting down Ford at all. There's just something special about vettes. Owned 4 total and all but c7 stingray were good buys. Stingray was just lacking power to me coming from a c6z06. Honestly the c6z06 and c6zr1 were best cars I've ever owned.

I know what you’re talking about! I got tired of messing around with dealers, so I bought a used one a2023 Idrove it home, and the transmission went out, with only 3000 miles on it, now it’s been sitting at the dealer for 3 1/2 weeks. Haven’t heard anything from them. Have a hard time trying to get a hold of anybody that knows what’s going on just getting the runaround. What can you do?

Also this new middle engine Corvette, has already the state of name” poor man’s Lamborghini “ also more worse than a Kit Car! In the end, the quality like a full plastic body, and a lot of Technical problems and the handling, because the front of the car is to lightly, gearbox, leaking air conditioning tubes etc. It’s a no go.

The problems you mentioned have only effected a very few number of cars. If what you stated.were true the Corvette forums would be exploding and they are not. Get educated. JD Powers has rated the Corvette #1 in new car reliability.

In 2020 you had to buy the z51 package in order to add the magnetic ride control! You have to realize that this went down during the pandemic and only got worse with supply chain issues! The 2020 1lt was a great value, z51, magnetic ride control and some other options out the door for less than 74,000 dollars with 6% sales tax included!

Thank you. I failed to mention that big fact in video and hitting myself for it. I explained that options were crazy but forgot to mention they were not in the beginning. I failed to make my point with that. As demand rose so did Chevy option prices. That's why they compare with porsche right now. And how a 68k base car turns into 93k plus taxes.

You keep screaming $100,000 for a base model. A base model is $65,895. Once you add options it's no longer a base model. You are very late in the game to be thinking you can get a C8 in less than 6 months. I paid MSRP and waited 11 months from the time I got on the list and 3 months from the time my allocation went in. Don't see the logic in your choices, a Porsche, a C3, or a C8. WTF. None on these are even in the same league.

No they are not. C8 was honestly the left field choice. The porsche will eventually be the daily. And the c3 or maybe a 3rd gen reto mod will be coming eventually. I still have a daily focus st. So didn't quite know direction I was going. C8 I would have kept stock for touring and mpg. That and sim racing plus little track time I've had in a McLaren 570s I knew I wanted a mid engine and enjoy those apexes. With a touring car doing some vacations the porsche just kind of fit better. Little better mpg, smaller tires but same grip with less weight, and only thing the 718 gts lacks over the c8 is hp. With a simple 900.00 ecu swap its up to 430hp. Being at wheel with less weight I wouldn't be surprised it would take a c8 stingray. There's a reason Chevy tests all corvettes vs porschea. Look back at all the track tests with stingray and z06. You will notice a porsche in all pics Wide enough to catch it. Chevy sees porsche as corvettes biggest rival. They aren't as far off from each other as you'd think...

There are no Porsche options that are cheaper than Corvette options. Example: painted brake calipers. Corvette $695, Porsche $1395. Look into Porsche body paint options. They are a joke. BTW mag ride was never included with z51. If you have found a Porsche dealer that doesn't charge a crazy ADM for a desirable Porsche you are truly lucky since every dealer in the country does. In conclusion I spent a couple of hours last year calling little dealers in small towns within a couple hundred miles of where I live and I found a dealer that gets about a dozen cars a year and he only had 3 people on a list. I was able to get a car in 6 months and only paid a $2,500 ADM.

Yes for rare paints but I got a package deal with the gts. And alot of the options are cheaper or the same. Your talking about specialty paint which Chevrolet doesn't offer. Their standard paint upgrade is 750 and Chevy at 650 pretty close... you talk about specialty porsche stuff, you talking stuff beyong what Chevy offers. Chevy has been adding more and more but you can customize a porache on another level, i agree there. I was shocked though at both the 911 and 718 options I had at same price. New or Used...
