In my opinion, it looks like a REALLY good mix of the LaFerrari (Black Roof), a Pagani and the Porsche 918 (the shape reminds me of those)... At first I thought the headlights were kinda ugly, but I really like them in this color!

Of course 570s is 'better' than 540c. 540c is basically the same car as 570s (well not 100% same) with detuned engine. Btw, Sam said 540c is more fun when he drove both car in red rock road that very narrow and twisty. Having more power on that kind of road doesn't translate to more fun. Moreover, if I'm not mistaken that 570s had winter tires and 540c is loaded with summer tires.

I understand what you are saying but I think you can easily do things both when speccing and through aftermarket additions to give this car the drama and feeling it deserves. So in my opinion, for the money, its a game changing car. P1 speed for a fraction of the cost. Drama optional.

If possible, you should do that comparison in the future. It would be interesting to see how it fares against something you are already used to. Maybe the same road as you used when you drove the 540C? Agreed, the looks are kinda unique, but that's part of the charm I think. You made good points for the engineering side but after a while, the kick in the seat will get old. A good car makes you want to drive it more once you stop, even if you have to pee.

The only thing lacking,, as everyone just said, if you're understanding what you just viewed, is that it lacks the connection they're looking for. If you actually watched all the mclaren videos like i did at work :) you would know that mclaren makes series of cars to the engine size. So the 570 has 3 cars the S, Gt, now the spider and i think theirs a special one with a big wing. And thats its own thing. The 720 is replacing the 675. Now the 675 has the S, spider and the LT and i think another one with a non movable wing. Now the 675 wasnt classiefied as a sports car but a hyper car. Hyper cars are different then a sports car. You have fun in different ways kinda. Sport cars are playful raw feeling machines that remind you its a sports car. Hyper cars do everything. Even what luxary cars do. 675 does that and so does the 720. Its a crazy ass hypercar. So seen glass guy here really likes the raw feeling of a sports car clearly when he rants on what he is lookong for. So your right about the 570 thing with the s and the gt. But thw 570 cars are not hyper cars. The gt is more comratable and not as capable (even tho the gap isnt very big at all) the s is not as comfrotable but is super capable. 675 does it all. The 720 replaces it. Sooooo and as other youtubers stated. There will probably be a LT model of the 720. Id like to say everything ive said is being refrence from what ive heard from other youtubers who i beleive are more credable then this dude. Also i like to say i didnt insult you at all. So enjoy.

We find perfection in the imperfections. We love cars with a bit of personality. Cars that have flaws which make them more human like, since no human I'd perfect. When a car is too perfect it's like comparing humans to robots. The 720s looks to be too good at what it is and that makes us detached from it, since we can't relate. It looses it's flaws and with them its personality thus transforming from to car to machine. A very fast and comfortable machine, but a soulless machine nevertheless. I believe that is why people love older (more pure) cars. Cars that are manual or even cars that brake down alot. Because we can relate with its flaws, forgive it for mistakes and bond with it for what it is. Then it's like having an old friend. A friend you love and have come in terms with his sort comings.

It does what it is supposed to do incredibly well. It is super fast and will beat most cars on the road and the track. However, it isn't a car for everyone. I think driving a Porsche GT4, manual 911 or manual BMW M2 would certainly be much more fun and much more interactive.

It's going to be harder for James, he's coming off the end of a roadtrip in a 675LT. I reckon it's going to be that much harder for him to convince himself this is a 650s replacement, even though it is. The looks, the power, all the new engineering and the hype surrounding it being a P1 beater, is going make it difficult to not compare this to the LT. As it stands I'm not sure where his car (when it arrives) is going to fit in his line up. If this was the 720LT version being released, I think it would be a different ball game. This was your best upload yet, Sam. Loved it.

I am with you Sam, I think that's what makes the Carrera GT so special. It's not your every day driver, but when you have a go in it, it might be the best experience ever. And for a cruiser you might want something more focussed on that task. Even though I have to admit what an incredible machine the 720S is and I am curious what the LT version will be like.

for me james and sam do both different styles and i enjoy them i think equally for different reasons :) agree with seb, but i guess he has an audience that is also younger than the audience of james or sam. so he will grow more as he himself gets older. paul on the other hand i have a feeling is somehow stagnant. his channel had over 500k when james and sam were kind of beginning, but those two gained more subs way faster becuase they do more different stuff and are more creative in the things they do. and i think theis personalities appeal maybe to now more people. so pauls channel grows slower than sams or james'

Also with Supercars getting faster, i feel on the road you never feel you are utilising the full potential and working for a prestige car dealer i actually feel cars are getting too fast in some circumstances and they are chasing time and numbers. I have a Turbo Mx-5 and it is rubbish for comfort, for carrying anything, but it is amazing at being FUN and thats why i love it so much. The fact that it is bad in other areas, subconsciously makes me like it more as it make it more of an occasion and i feel in a supercar of that standard you need that sense of occasion!

100% agree with your final statements. While definitely not in the same price bracket, its the reason I went with the Elise over a Cayman. The Cayman was a great swiss army knife that could be many things; a weekend tourer, a grocery getter, a sunday canyon car and a track car. But in all reality I didn't want something to cover all the bases, the problem with a swiss army knife is while it can get the job done, it is rarely the best tool. I didn't want a swiss army knife, I wanted a scalpel. The 720 sounds too much like the former.

I wasn't sure about the look of the car when it was released in white, orange, or even gray... but this red really really stands out and perhaps your filming made the car look more appealing with curves and shapes. Sounds like the 720S lacks a bit of soul. It hasn't quite decided on its own identity (yet). Which might very well be a side product of over-engineering.

I never said the 720S is inferior to the 650S/540C, because it simply is not. But just because the car performs (much) better than the models it "replaces" does not mean it can't be over-engineered with a lack of identity as a result. One could argue that a 570S has a more unique and defined identity than a 720S even though, performance and value-for-money wise, the 570S doesn't come near the 720S. I do think the 720S is a brilliant piece of engineering, no doubt about that.

Some people buy these kinds of cars because they perform better then previous gen models, whilst others buy these kinds of cars because they are longing for an unique driving experience. If the 720S' identity is "It takes place of the 650S", I'm sure you can work out which group of people the 720S would appeal to and you'd completely understand them since the 720S is an absolute monster. I've already read and heard multiple reviews saying the 720S is insane but that it tries to be too many things at once, hence losing some of its identity. I also never preached its lack of identity to be fact. Everyone understands that something like that is a highly subjective matter. I'm also not rejecting the 'future'. As an engineer I applaud McLaren for this achievement and I hope they continue building such awesome road-legal machines. Somehow I get the feeling that you think that I completely dislike the 720S, which isn't the case at all :)

I think it's superb that a car can have a performance envelope this vast -- but then it makes the purpose of having a GT, an LT and an S (and to some extent a hypercar) rather pointless. Still, I don't see that as a demerit. Mclaren wanted to make a car that excelled at everything, and they've achieved it. The packaging of the 720S would bring it a lot closer to that of the F1 and there's always going to be an element of F1 DNA in any Mclaren design. In my own world, I would probably put the 570 GT's light and airy interior colours in this car, instead of dark black and gray everywhere. But then that's me.

I admire your honesty. You could express you pov in a less blunt way. I.E: It's an awesome care if you are looking for an everyday supercar. But the way you did it stands out from every other journalist. I just don't know how this will pass with the manufacturers. And wheather you are going to be invited to these releases in the future. See Chris Harris and Ferrari. And after the unban he is so with their cock and balz in his mouth he can't even speak right. So it's a knife edge you are walking on that can bring great rewards.

My dream car. 720s vs 488 vs 458. The 458 sounds the bests. But I like to go fast. My last car was a 1990 Supra with a big turbo at 520rwhp. With that being said, I’ve driven a viper, a gallardo and some other super cars. My Supra was still on the top of my list. There is something about raw power being sent to the wheels, without fancy driving aids that really sets me off.

I think sam's main point for those who where left unclear was that the 720s is a car that you get into and it really lacks the excitement because the car does everything for you. The car is fast, it handles well, it brakes well, the suspension is good, etc what is left for the driver? Theres no drama attached to the car it's just plain. It's the same experience over and over and it would probably get old quickly.
