That is a problem when you are laughing and people stare at you “ Why are you laughing? We are in a funeral and you are laughing, you don’t show any respect. You can’t tell them “ Sorry, I am not laughing about the fact that person isn’t longer around us, I am having some memories that came up to my mind or conversations with my thoughts or voices that are talking to me and them make me to giggle.

I don't have hallucinations, but I've talked out loud whenever I'm by myself (to whatever extent) for as long as i can remember. My partner of over 6 years (and known each other much longer) was on the computer with headphones on, and I was blabbing to myself about whatever. Full conversation. Suddenly just hear, "Babe??" I look over at them, their face very perplexed. And they ask who I was talking to. I was so confused, and asked them if they'd never noticed that I constantly talk to myself. They were home, but I was just doing my own thing, going in and out of rooms, picking things up, and generally meandering. I was honestly shocked they'd somehow never found out before then o.O because we've seriously known each other for about 2 decades... Definitely a surreal experience.

When someone tells me “ Who are you taking to”? Well, I am talking to myself, it is just a monologue, I am learning or I am practicing my foreign languages spoken skills” I am singing or reading an article out loud or telling myself a story. I am rehearsing what I am going to tell to my friend. These are my excuses to avoid the truth. Michelle, people don’t know much about schizophrenia, bipolar disorder or my illness “ schizoaffective disorder + ADHD”. I only take medication for my ADHD. The other meds for bipolar with schizophrenia symptoms cause me massive side effects. I don’t want to sleep in inappropriate places. The meds make me sleep too much. Teachers had to wake me up in the classroom. The sedation effect was too much for me.

Makes me think that part of your brain recognises that they’re hallucinations/delusions. I have similar hallucinations/delusions but most of the time I consciously know almost right away and do try to stop them even if they’re not nasty. I’ve had them for a couple of years and found that they have reduced a bit from trying hard to stop them as soon as they start. But yeah, they take a shortcut in the brain and are accepted as real right away.

Do you kind of feel like you're in a daze half awake half asleep state of mind during your episodes? Because that's what I go through. Sometimes I think it might be because I live alone and have been living alone for the past 3 1/2 years and maybe I just missed my ex-husband or Mom and just hallucinate them being around.

@@hristinakikaa8949 It is definitely genetic and I would not recommend having children to subject to schizophrenia. The chance they have a mental health disorder is extremely extremely high. It sucks truly! But plenty of people have kids anyway because they're hoping and praying their child is "normal" but most end up Bi-Poplar, Scizophrenic, or a combination of things.

@@SchizophrenicNYC I dislike such comments. Religious people should take this problem seriously. What you have is real, it not a demon who is stalking you. They do believe you are possessed by satan or a demon and you need a priest who can cast out the demon who is on your mind. It is detrimental how religion can brainwash your brain. Please stop writing such comments, religious people. You are not helping Michelle with your comments. She has schizophrenia, not a demon who entered in her body in her childhood. Please stop assuming she needs Jesus Christ to save her.
