Why I Film 16:9 in 1080p at 30fps

This seems odd or I’m missing something about your idea of optimization. What are you optimizing filming in 4K and exporting/converting to 1080P? The heaviest part of footage, I find, is file size. Optimization would be bringing down file sizes for all of storage, transfers, and edits. I have a Nikon Z8 and like 1 minute of 8K footage was ridiculous. If I went heavy into video, it would seem 1080P would be the way to go for these reasons. Also the 30P doesn’t really seem like an optimization, just the resolution.

8K is ridiculous 😳 exporting at 1080p is such a faster process, and so is the uploading. Filming 4K and pulling the file from my SD card doesn’t take long but everything else does. And the optimization part is that shorts, reels, regular widescreen videos, etc are universally used not just on YT, but other platforms as well. Not everything takes 4K or 60fps. Not even YT’s own shorts do that right now. 24fps was the cinematic standard, and 60fps was for like sports and such, but 30fps was made for the digital space. Especially back when the monitors had that jelly scroll on the older glass screens. I’m not making movies, and 0% of my content is viewed away from the digital space, so I stick with the default standard 30fps. Hope that helped to explain better 😊

I read that KZbin shorts are 9:16 - how do I get to that aspect ratio. All my shorts get messed up because I keep forgetting to come out of 4:3

I’m not sure how you’re filming at 4:3, but you gotta film at 16:9 😅 change your settings

@@RandyNexus, I figured it out. I'd been filming in landscape and then trying to crop it into a short. There's a reason why my Twitter bio says I barely understand how modern devices work.

@@RandyNexus I think it would be cool to see and the one thing you could do that stands out front the rest is show the export/upload settings for KZbin because very rarely people show that part and it’s the most important. You could have a great video but if you don’t have the settings right for social media it will look bad. Sorry for the long paragraph 😬
