I wouldn’t have directly thought you were playing a JH record hearing that accapella as it’s MEDUZA’s track, and so the accapella is not JH. Especially if it wasn’t from his remix and over the top of another tune! But regardless, was a sick set and you smashed it! Keep it up bro🙌🏼🔥
@D4nielJ4mes9 күн бұрын
Yeah, I agree, which is where the technicality is, I believe all it was was a simple misunderstanding that someone thought I was playing james remix which as I mentioned, I wasn't. I am still forever grateful to Rashun & the team for giving me this opportunity!

this has been an unwritten rule for years. its because you never know if the artist is going to use it or not. some djs will say i was just showing respect to the artist and its actually disrespectful to do it. sorry it happened but it sounds like you understand and wont do it again.
@D4nielJ4mes13 күн бұрын
@victorsanchez-pp1mn 100%! Thinking about it after it's something I've always known & abided to as a rule with the other events I've done in the past. I believe that I was just not in my normal state of mind due to being so busy with my other job & putting so much pressure on myself to do well with this opportunity. Still so grateful to the team & all of you for the love & support!

They cut your set short because you played ONE JH song????? To me that would be a compliment
@D4nielJ4mes9 күн бұрын
So I think it was a simple misunderstanding, I wasn't playing a james track, I was playing the acapella of piece of your heart by Meduza, I think it was a simple mistake from whoever heard me playing it, worked in my favour though as people are clearly talking about it! Huge opportunity which has given me the boost to push on for 2025! 🙏
@JulesVicDJ12 күн бұрын
Sounds like it was a momentary lapse - under a lot of pressure. You’ve said you know not to play headliner tracks when you’re warming up. It’s all experience. And you still totally deserved to be there!
@D4nielJ4mes9 күн бұрын
Exactly that Julie! I was so all over the place the days leading upto it that I just really wasn't in the mindset I should of been for doing something like this but I've been told I still smashed it so can't complain! @D4nielJ4mes9 күн бұрын
Hey there! I believe I was "pulled off" as someone thought I was playing james Remix of the piece of your heart by meduza, but it was the acapella from the original tune 🙏
@DJ_RIGGERZ9 күн бұрын
@@D4nielJ4mes That's terrible, I don't think they where in the right to do that, it's not even a JH song! You should've tried to explain that it was just the original acapella - not the JH remix.

@DJ_RIGGERZ I had but by that time it was too late, no hate towards them or vice versa! Just one of those things, still super grateful to be on the lineup for something this big! Given me the motivation to push on for next year, some sick things lined up 🙏💪

Wait so im new to the djing world and would like to try my best to play at some stages in the future if you make a set and are playing on a stage and you like a certain artist songs you cant play it? ....please educate me here is there a dj copyright law or is it how somebody feels about it?
@D4nielJ4mes7 күн бұрын
Hi there! so its un written rule of djing that if you are playing at an event that you shouldn't play any original music or remixs from the headline artist or anything connected to them as its music they will most likely play & the people paying to go to the event will want to see the headlinder play their own music not someone else. I hope that makes sense! any other advice or tips please feel free to ask :)
@kaizenking227 күн бұрын
@D4nielJ4mes I see just to confirm that's only if you happen to be playing at the same stage as them that day correct?
@D4nielJ4mes7 күн бұрын

@andrewdickens701612 күн бұрын
I’ve always thought if it’s just one or two it’s going to get people ready for what’s coming. Plus the crowd will still react again because of who is playing it
@D4nielJ4mes9 күн бұрын
Yeah I agree to an extent, I can see it from both sides, at the end of the day if you are going to a james show you want to hear him playing his tracks not someone like me, we learn & move on though! 🙏

An outside opinion from someone into a complete diff genre of music. Sounds like you was outshining… as in they didnt expect you to kill it. Sounds negative but I watched your previous video and you was going hard. Hype literally said it. So they was waiting for that one little thing they could get you on. An acappella wtf 🚩dodgy that mate. Great video regardless 🎉

He didn't do anything wrong, if a dj cant play music on the fly and think on the fly instead of prerecorded sets he has all setup before he gets to the club is quite sad to give this guy stick, whoever is saying he made a mistake is quite wrong. not wearing headphones just also makes this whole debate sad!!

@MarqueeRene13 күн бұрын
Great performance! Actually it was also a bit risky by James Hype's team to take some fans playing besides him as many DJs in this group will be extremely inspired by JH and would also play same tracks and same transitions/tricks of course. Would have been a good idea to tell you upfront NOT to play songs JH will usually play in his sets so you can prepare something different. But pretty sure Rashun also learned this and will give more instructions if they would ever do something like that again. But very good idea to use this statement also to increase your channel... It is just a bit late from my point of view. That statement and the rest of the set should have been released on your channel directly after the MovingDiffernently episode. But good luck ... and also record your full set. Would be stupid not to do this. 👍😉

Oh for the love of.. So what if someone plays a track the "headliner" was going to play? You shouldn't get cut off. Im disappointed in James Hype. Theres an unlimited amount music out there who cares if an opening dj plays something you were planning on playing.

I’ve heard djs play the same track many times even at the same show. As a Dj myself I think it comes down to what u do with the track. I see both sides. Should have been ok as long as you’re not trying to copy another djs mix or style. If anything maybe just ask him not to play the same tracks that night.

red lining the mixer was more of a problem.... lol dont worry about mr over hyped
@D4nielJ4mes9 күн бұрын
In most cases venues will have a separate sound engineer that will control overall levels so redlining not a huge worry unless in a venue that doesn't have the above or a sound system that can't handle it, appreciate it!

It is a bit sad mate. James Hype should of been able to take it on the fly with all his experience. DJ'ng is not like it used to be - unfortunately its more about the performer and their social media following these days. All this prancing behind the decks and the paid for crowd behind the turntables just makes it a circus. Bring back vinyl, 1210's and ban smartphones from the clubs, then we see where the big boys are ;)
