@@karmstrong6566 i understand where you're coming from, and i agree it is important to understand the difference in severity of situations. however, my exams definitely put me through hell and made my depression flare up. it is totally valid for this person to have a depressive episode from exams, and i do not mind at all them comparing our situations. i know you come from a good place and are trying to spread information, which is always a great thing to strive for, but i don't find what they said demeaning. for some who were/are having a worse time than me, perhaps someone with BPD, that reply could have been an upset and could have felt like it was lessening the situation. however, it's always good to know people are there stressed with you, that you're not alone even to different degrees, and i did not feel upset at all by that reply. its important to let people speak for themselves in this issue and make sure the reminders that you do say about this kind of thing are gentle and are sharing both perspectives (if a person might be upset or might not be, and ensuring that both are fine).
