my goal is to simply give some insight on how to use the various features and instances roblox studio, and show you some fun stuff you can do with them. thanks for checking out this roblox scripting tutorial :)

Hey man, I'm new to coding on Roblox and followed this guide to mess around with some stuff but I noticed that with the cooldown mechanic even though it is set to put whatever key you pressed on cooldown, it also activates when you press other keys. For example when moving around using WASD that causes the cooldown to activate, or clicking with the mouse. I tried making it to where the "db = true" after the button is pressed but it allows for a couple key presses before the "db = true" I know that there are probably more efficient ways to make something like this but I like this method. It could also be a fault in my code but I pretty much just copied and pasted it from this video.
@byteblox100
@byteblox100 29 күн бұрын
There’s definitely a more efficient method and that’s doing the cooldown on the server. So what I would usually do is make an empty table on the server, add the player id inside of it during the event, wait my cooldown, and then loop through the table and remove the player id

good job overall I like your method of genuinely explaining what is happening rather than just punching in code and saying "just copy this!!!", but personally I feel like you drag on your explanations too much and consume a lot of time doing them additionally, please consider moving the cooldown to server-side. client-sided cooldowns can easily be exploited.
