Hey Mark, I wanted to say thank you for putting effort and sharing your credit cards journey video for us. You got all your viewers going wild. You set the bar extremely high, now I'm curious how many credit cards does Ask Sebby or Ben Hedges have since they been in the credit cards game for a long time. This video was absolutely valuable, detail, and informative for credit cards enthusiast. After seeing your 41 credit cards, it felt like you present everyone your Pokemon cards collection or Yugioh deck. I have an idea, if you ever collaborate with Ask Sebby in the future, you guys should have credit cards dual (Yugioh reference). Lastly, I would love to see your inactive/closed cards.

Just one comment regarding pickup orders on delivery apps (DoorDash, Grubhub, and Uber eats): many restaurants will list menu prices that are higher in those apps than if you were to order pickup directly from them (since these apps can take up to a 30% commission from restaurants, and restaurants will offset them by listing higher prices on those apps). With that in mind, your food credits from those delivery apps can be worth less (even without delivery fees/tips) due to inflated menu prices, depending on where you order from. This whole video is very fascinating though and I find it interesting how you justify such big fees. Thanks for breaking everything down!

I'm active military and pay $0 in fees on all credit cards, and I still can't justify having a lot of cards. I can never remember to buy food on the plane and every year I end up with about $0 in airline incidental and food spend. Also I find myself end up eating crappy food and ordering from the food delivery services just because I have credit cards. I also end up forgetting which cards do what. One thing I did was transfer Chase points to United and book two trips to Panama and Mexico this year, so that worked well. I'm sitting here not being able to justify a lot of cards even though I pay no annual fees and this dude is justifying over six grand in annual fees lol

How did you get around inquiry and velocity sensitivity? Especially looking at your Chase Ink Unlimited, if I'm counting correctly, you were at 8/24 when you got approved. I know the Inks themselves don't count toward 5/24, but isn't 5/24 considered when applying? Also surprised about the Citi approvals, as I've heard they're pretty sensitive to inquiries in the last 6 months when applying.
@MarkReese2 жыл бұрын
The Chase Ink Business Unlimited was obtained back when the "Black Star Selected For You" offers bypassed the 5/24 rule 👍 Not sure if Citi's inquiry sensitivity is more recent history...I've not had denials due to inquires from them.

I was approved for the Custom Cash with 4/5 (depending on exactly where the 6 month cut off is) inquiries on Experian. Cards are a tool to help you reach a goal, if our goals are different, that means different cards should be involved.
@JamesTodd13352 жыл бұрын
Awesome video Mark! Appreciate you sitting down and going through each and every one in detail and the story behind them. It was very informative and you've been such a good guidance in my own credit card journey! But one thing I will ask, and it's the reason I don't get annual fee cards is this; if you didn't get the credit cards for the bonus/credits they give you from the annual fee, would you still actually do said activities? For example, if your card gives you $500 back a year in hotel credits, but you didn't have the card, would you still go to the hotel? If not, then aren't you essentially still paying for it? Unless it's for work or something, I don't really understand why people do things like this.
@MarkReese2 жыл бұрын
Yep, I'd still take 4-6 trips per year even if I had 0 credit cards ✈️ So paying a $450 annual fee for that Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant card makes sense for me. Since having it, I've gotten around $700+ of value each year even without the first-year welcome bonus. So you can think of annual fee cards like getting a discount on things you'd normally pay for. That's why buying things in bulk at Costco / Sam's Club / BJs can make sense vs. buying things individually or in small quantities.

Awesome video, I’m up to 11 cards. Opened up Amex Cash Magnet in January. A local FCU called me up/emailed me I was pre approved for a rewards Visa. Approved me with high limit and soft pull approval. Off to the garden for me.

Mark how do you justify so many platinum cards? i mean theres only so many times one can order from Uber and use the wireless credit. Did you get a second sign up for each of the 2nd personal and business cards?

Cool looking pool table. Yes to that video and as usual, enjoyed this video. I'm at 6 cards, started in August 2020, have a bit to go to get to a pool table full of cards. With having 41 cards, have you been flat out rejected for any cards even after trying to get reconsidered? I wonder how many more cards would be on that pool table.

That will require a separate video 👍 Also, the answer will be different for 1 person to another. For a simple answer, do you want to redeem rewards for cash back, domestic travel, or international travel?

Please make a video including the inactive cards. I enjoy watching it and now that gives me an idea which credit card to get in the future.😁 quick question, can you apply amex gold and pink to get both cards?
@MarkReese2 жыл бұрын
I'll consider that follow-up video! Yes, you can apply for more than 1 Gold Card in different colors, but you'll only receive the welcome offer on 1 of them. For that reason, a better approach might be: (a) Get 1 Gold Card and then (b) Get the Green Card or Platinum Card with a bonus...followed by an up/downgrade a year later to the 2nd Gold.

Mark, Can you really justify all these annual fees every year? Or basically every other month depending on how your yearly rotation is lined up. Another question, what do you do for a living?
@MarkReese2 жыл бұрын
Every year...likely not. I typically revise my card lineup only when fees come due. No need to think a year in advance for each card when you can get the fees refunded within 30 days of them posting ✌️ Regarding Question 2, I do KZbin full time.

@MarkReese2 жыл бұрын
Nah...I only use 3-6 on a regular basis...pretty simple 👌
@crimsionCoder422 жыл бұрын
Annual fees are 100% bogus for the consumer. It's just a premium barrier to entry for exclusivity. They say it's to pay for all the benefits but they already charge the merchants you shop at a higher rate for a more premium card 4 to 5% of total sale vs 1.5 to 2% for lower end cards. That's why merchant CC processors need a business processing statements before they give a quote. They need to see at least 3 months worth to average out what kind of cards your customers use so they don't loose money on the average rate.

Hey Mark, I noticed that you have 2 personal Amex Platinum and 2 business Platinum cards. And 2 gold too. My question is did you get bonuses on all of those? My understanding is that you can only get bonus once on personal and one in business card.
@MarkReese2 жыл бұрын
Correct, bonuses on all of them. Made sure that the Offer Terms for the duplicates did not have the 'lifetime language' anywhere, which usually says something like "Offer not available if you have or have had this card."
@rajanchauhan32792 жыл бұрын
Thank you! And did you apply on their website or were you targeted by them in mail or on amex portal? I know you were targeted for Gold one but what about platinum?

@@rajanchauhan3279 - The duplicates were all targeted offers. The 'no lifetime language' does not appear on the regular Amex site.
