Awesome 😎 I have a 30 year old Suzuki vx800 and use duel sport tyres, even though it is a sports cruiser. Also I have removed all plastic and shortened the frame. I will make a short video soon for anyone that would like to see it. Have many more great adventures my friend 👍

Nice video and I totally agree about the tires! A little extra vibration on the pavement is totally worth the extra traction in the dirt. Be well!

Welcome to Turkey. The name of it “Ölü deniz”. English translation is “Dead sea”. Because it’s an closed small sea which has only one small water flow from mediterranean sea to inside of it. 🙂

One should be prepared for the "worst" conditions, so it makes complete sense you'd choose a dual sport tire over a road tire.

After eight glorious summers sailing with my son from England this is where we ended our journey, wonderful coast line, many many islands to escape the crowds, wonderful. Maybe I will find the time to motorcycle the coastline again, that would truly be icing on the cake.

As you said, Pavlin. Tyres are a compromise. Until they develop an automatic tyre changer before every corner: supersport in the twisties, then longlife on big roads, then adventure on gravel roads. Your choice by push of button within milliseconds ;-) Enjoy your travels, Günter from Nürnberg/Germany

Fully agree Pavlin, the less restrictions you put on your travel the more the adventure. It is like the difference between taking a big adventure bike with road tyres or a lighter bike with off road tyres, all you do is limit the places you can access, and feel more confident and comfortable doing so.

Thanks, For the last 3 years i have used the Mitas for the exact same reason. On a 1190R. And it is true that it will cost you stabilty on the tarmac. But as soon you are riding somewhere in nature then you are so happy about it. Those Mitas i choose because of your recommendation. And i never regretted it. So also thanks for that. Now i am owning a Norden 901. And next year i will take a set of Mitas with me to also Turkey and Iran. I am also looking into sending them to Turkey. So i can replace the stock tires with them. To avoid a few thousend km using them on the road. I estimate that they have to do 6000 km'ters in Iran. I need to contact a good motorbike shop in Turkey so i can send the tires to them. So if someone has a recommedation for a good shop in Turkey please do. Or if somelse also wants to go to Iran next year please leave a message. My goal mostly is to explore the backcountry. Greetings from the Netherlands,

Pretty much any tyre grips just fine on dry pavement, it's wet roads that are the issue. But there are dual sport tyres with plenty of road grip even in the wet. They are softer compounds though, so just don't last as long. Amongst my riding friends we have a phrase, "wet road grip, off road grip, long wear - pick 2".

Hey, please go to the Patara. But not ancient buildings, 2-3km before the enterance, when you see some little markets, go to the right road. And you will see sands like desert and very very long beach. (point from the google maps: 36.27051523224915, 29.303490923115177) Have a nice trip.

Since we are speaking about tires on off-roads, I had to face recently a road which part of it had hard rocky surface, including steep climbs, and other part soft sand. I also have a XT-660Z, in my case with mitas e07 tires. Questions: 1) what tire pressure do you recommend for these terrains?, 2) regarding regulation for front fork/suspension for these kind of terrains, do you recommend it softer or harder?
@mariotapia3816
@mariotapia3816 3 жыл бұрын
being more precise: tires are e07+
@motorcycleadventures

I don't touch the pressure unless I need to ride in a deep sand. Hard suspension is better for me.

@@motorcycleadventures Many thanks for prompt answer, very helpful, I will adjust front suspension. I am new in adventure bikes, just two years. Pretty experienced in dirt-bikes, but logically is pretty different riding a 100 kg bike vs a 200 kg.

You can go quite far on a radial tire in a cold climate at low speeds - probably illegal at 20k.

What a road man, was it in construction or has been made recently? The pavement looked like new gravel and without any protections on the sides (yet). You`re truly an Explorer 😂! Nice Video and thanks for the tip concerning the tyres👌

Any tyre will cope with an asphalt road, not many tyres will cope with a muddy or gravelly or grassy track.

I guess ordering tires in advance and having them waiting for a few days is a good idea sometimes. Can get them as you reach your destination or a week later on the way back that way, if it's convenient

IMO it's a safely trade off. You are giving up braking safely on most of the miles for stability on a few off road miles.

On the road is easy to control the traction, just slow down and I am good. Off road is a different story.
