Congratulations on getting 5000. I enjoy your talks about gear especially Nikon, and especially vintage Nikons.

Congrats on 5K+ subs! I like gear related videos, so those are nice. However, I also like personal stories about photography experience, especially from veteran photographers like you. Maybe you could make some videos like that - just an idea. Thanks!

Yes, the push pull was loosey goosey on my 80-200mm 4.5 with the squarish baffle on rear element. The 35-70mm 2.8 was a macro also with a push of a chrome button. Gave these to one of my sons when he was starting out shooting film along with an AI 20mm 3.5 5 prime. Congrats on the 5K Jules. I still haven't figured out why I listen to you😂 I'm intrigued about you mentioning the events video and will put that down to watch.

@@C2CDisciple I much prefer AF zooms. The Z mount zooms are especially good. Thanks for watching.

Jules, congratulations on reaching 5000+ subscribers, well deserved. As far as manual focus zooms, I have only one push pull zoom, it is a Kiron 80-200 F4.5 that I purchased for my first Nikon. I do like the lens, doesn’t get any use anymore but I have to tell you that I do like the function of a single place to grip to focus and zoom. Anyway, that is just me, I am sure that you will get half of your viewers like them and half will be with you and not like them

@@julesvuottosphotofocus4696 BTW, for ideas for future videos. I would be interested to see your method of saving your digital photo works. Do you save everything you shoot? Do you create individual client folders? How do you deliver to the client? (JPG, TIFF, etc...) what do most clients request? How do you save and backup you digital works.

I have only one manual zoom and I rarely use it. It is the 80-200 and I didn’t buy it. It came with the F2 that I bought. It was advertised as a F2 in a camera bag with some extras. The best part of that purchase were a Vivitar 2X and several Nikon extension tubes

I prefer the 2 ring zooms but I still have and use on a nikon dslr the 28-50 3.5 , 50-135 3.5 & 100-300 5.6 ais lenses when I shoot landscapes / slow moving subjects and find them to be sharp but the images by the 50-135 are almost to the same quality as my af 180 2.8 which is my equal favorite lens to the af 55mm 2.8 which are both from about 1987. My 1st slr was a Minolta x-300 c/w a 35-70 3.5 2 ring zoom which was much better to use than the 80-200 one ring zoom which I bought to join it.

@@johnarmstrong5727 I never owned the 50-135 and I agree the 100-300 is very sharp. I had the 180 2.8 ED manual focus, very sharp but also best for stationary subjects. Thanks for watching.

When I have to take a shot that really matters I haul out my F2 with 80-200. Otherwise I spray with Canon digital.

Nikkor 50-300 ais is a lens I purchased but not shot much with it…big and heavy…doubt it would convince you otherwise. I picked up the 80-200 push pull because I saw or read Steve McCurry used it…but like you I was not really impressed 🤷🏻‍♂️

I would like your opinion on the Nikon 500mm mirror lens. I do have a couple of push pull lenses now, but some complained of lens creep when pointed down. I mainly used and still have two Tamron Adaptal zoom lenses. My new Canon mirrorless body does not have a setting for "fire without lens," while others do, so not able to use new or vintage manual focus only lenses.
