I’m convinced that the trip 2-8 was the bowling gods giving back for him handling the 100 game so well

I never felt happier for a bowler than when TD won that major...

He’s just a good dude who deserves every good thing that happens to him, he’s always struggling on tour and I empathize heavily with him because of my similar struggles under pressure, it’s just nice to see that you can still overcome your struggles and bowl well on tv even if it costs you a lot more titles. He still tends to struggle a lot on tv but as long as he wins every once and awhile I’d say it’s alright for him

That was a fantastic win. Belmonte was with the broadcast team for that match and his reaction was gold. You know it's a miracle shot if Belmonte loses his mind. Also, TD struggled so much on television. From what I saw, he had more sub-200 games more than any pro I've seen. He constantly joked about Rob Stone jinxing him because he called his 100 game. One of the great underdog stories in PBA history.

Completely agree! TD’s story is truly remarkable and to have the self-confidence to not give up after his 100 game and build the career that he has is incredible. Sad that he won’t be a HOFer-it’s hard to tell the story of the PBA without mentioning him

I was glad when to see him leave Storm and join the Brunswick family (Brunswick, Hammer, DV8, Ebonite, Track, Columbia 300 and Radical)

I admit that I didn't see this one coming, BUT you're right about Tom--he didn't let it define him--and when he won, he won BIG. What made it better is that he won in front of his home town and YES that 2-8 was the break he deserved for all the times the pins didn't fall his way. There's few bowlers I've rooted for as hard to win as that guy. :)

TD will always be one of my favorite bowlers, from a 100 on his debut to 4 Titles under his belt. One of the most humble bowlers out there.

TD is who I try to emulate and understand on the lanes. As a fellow one-hand no-thumb bowler, there isn't many to turn to for inspiration. I have been bowling since 2009 when I tried to use a thumb and just could not get it. Found TD and the rest was history. I have struggled throughout the years to get to a decent point but this last winter and summer has ramped up in a good way. I am hoping to go out to regionals and maybe play alongside this man if he is in the same event(s).

Awsome vid! Thanks a lot. I remember how happy i was watching him win the title. Such great sportsmanship on his part with that 100 game.

He's been through a lot, that's for sure. I think he had a 137 game on tv which probably means he has the lowest and the 3rd lowest tv game ever, and he was recovering from a heart attack before that World Championship. But what is the worst of all is that he had to bowl with that big Bowlers' Journal 100 sign in his face to win his first title.

It would have been understandable to pitch it into a telephone pole on the way home. He handled it so well you have to pay him on the back & say good work for his performances since then.

One of my favorite things about that world series was Belmo going up to Tom after he eliminated Pete and Walter and jokingly admonishing him for winning and taking away the opportunity to see the two greatest of all time fighting it out on the lanes one last time winner makes the show. What a story it could've been. But that was Tom's world series and there isn't a more deserving person on the planet. Real life great guy who handled himself with nothing but class and dignity. Also always laugh at the rob stone keep your ass at home doing soccer comment.

Tom I hope you don't let the 100 game bother you anymore. You have proven that it was a fluke. I also have a regrettable game, 1 bowled a 101 no tap game and get teased about to this day. Good luck to you and look forward to seeing you in future broadcasts.

I think that would be funny to see that score in the nine pin no-tap but I don't consider it real bowling but fun practice.

Several thoughts. 1. Tom's 100 wasn't an exceptionally bad performance (result notwithstanding). It was simply one of those games where a pro couldnt get lined up on a tough shot and kept going though the nose (which you see all the time on TV), he just happened to split every single damn time he did it. A lot of bad luck. 2. His opponent bowled a 299, and hardly anyone remembers it. In the end, it really didnt matter how tom bowled as he probably would have lost anyway. lol 3. He has very quietly picked up four titles in his career, putting him in a very exclusive class. Probably the most underrated bowler on the tour. 4. I had no idea Walter Ray almost made that 2022 telecast, and now that I know, I am devastated. lol

I threw a 267 the other night at my local bowling alley and I was going for a perfect game but in the 6th I left the 8 pin and going for my spare, I did something wrong, dropped shoulder, slight slip and guttered it 25 feet down the lane LMAO 😂 god dammit LoL 😆 but ended up striking out, funny how one bad ball can affect your game 😎
