An excellent prodding and drilling of the governor on the nitty gritty of governance in Edo State. And undoubtedly the governor represents the way governance should be conducted in the country. He clearly saw the malaise in President Buhari economic policies. Moreover, he has repositioned Edo State for further economic development. In addition, he carried out critical reforms policies in the state, and revamped abandoned and neglected infrastructure. Furthermore, he created enabling environment for future improvements, including embarking on new projects. Also, he displayed empathy for the civil servants in the state to mitigate the negative economic impact as a result of currency devaluation. Most importantly, he reduced corruption and minimized or possibly, eradicated the insecurity in the state. In fact, he is workers friendly and the construction of the labor house is to give voice to the labor movement in the country. However, Edo State was fortunate enough to have him as their governor. Bravo.

There is nothing wrong with what Governor Obaseki has done here.Inflation has increased and automatically Govt automatically must increase the salaries of workers to match up with inflationary trend. That is standard basic economics.However, I have always been concerned about the state of some of the roads in Edo state(my wife is from Auchi) but my views were allayed when Obaseki presented a clear statistics that all the 90 percent of the untouched roads are federal roads.He has tried his best and i wish the next Governor all the best.Obaseki is still better than my own Ogun state Governor who doesnt know what he is doing.

What's surprising in this. Are these people okay at all. This is a great thing to do for people by someone that truly has conscience and feel for millions of masses in abject poverty currently. Good one but is 200k even worthy of living wages considering the economic situation of Nigeria. All the states need to do more in IGR so that they can pay workers worthy wages. Also, add subsidised transport and mortgage plans for them. With Nigeria's minimum wages, it will be hard for people not to steal or beg. These governors need to really ask themselves is fair. There are so many dilapidated schools in Edo State. This is a fact because there is a community in the United States that I know of that had raise fund to replace the roofs of the buildings in the secondary school after the government has failed to maintain the school. The school in question has only three teachers that are being paid sometimes from donations from their diaspora. All the Governors developments have been focused on Benin as if it is the only city in the State. Increasing the minimum wage to N70,000 only means something to the civil servant. While the Government is not responsible for payment of salaries in the private sector, any minimum wage whether or the state on National level should be enforced for all workers in the state meaning employers in the private sector should be included in meeting that requirements because it is a law. If the Governor did not consult with the private sector on the minimum wage increase he has sectionalized the people that he is supposed to govern on equal basis. Every citizen of the state is going through the same hardship regardless of who they work for or party affiliation. There are a lot of infrastructural decays across the state that make development in the State to be far behind other states in the country. Developments seen only in Benin. The schools and roads which most need within the state are horrible. Lack of these amenities along with healthcare system is more important to the citizens than announcement of wage increase most especially when a lot of people have no jobs. Therefore the governor must understand that not every community within the state careless about this wage increase when schools, healthcare facilities and roads are deplorable. It is election time in the state so the governor has to find an opportunity to blow his horn.
