Hello Tracy / sorry but not a fan of renewable energy - or - electric cars - but I prefer - Nat Gas - although it's not perfectly clean - but much more reliable and plentiful and efficient - even the transportation systems could easily be converted / I feel the future is bright for LNG - SO stocks such as - Keyera / TC energy & Alta gas are players i prefer / As far as vehicle stocks - its a bit trickier ... but I like Toyota ... and their attitude of understanding their client bases needs.. and preferences... just my thoughts... all the best 👍

Ok. About the future: i would look at what policies are coming in, like net zero targets, decarbonization, , what investments are being made to infrastructure, renewables, it’s driven by government regulations and policies.

I agree Fts is a good investment. People might find it boring but they have been consistent. I love buying when it’s on sale. TD too I try as much as possible. Me too I want to sell AQN…

I’m in it for long term. Imo: it reminds of apple when alot of people didn’t like it..when Steve jobs passed away, it had years of pain. The big accelerator is the smaller cheaper car and their robot and FSD, which I personally have and see the year to year changes on FSD..

@FinancialNirvanaMama I don't intend to convince you otherwise. I never liked Tesla. I never liked Bitcoin. Many people made fortunes on both. I know that investing is not about 'what I like', but about ' what makes sense'. Still, somehow, something is telling me :'Don't touch it'. I am in a very different place age wise, though. I pretty much live off dividends in my retirement. I don't make too many changes. I don't touch the principal, and I am loaded with Fortis on the Canadian side. Good luck. I wish you all kind of success. You will do great. I am not even half as smart as you're, but it worked for me.

Hi Tracy, if algonquin were to sell their renewables as their new direction and they were able to pay down debt.... would you reconsider algonquin? Or if rhe stock were to fall further.... is there a re-entry price that may catch your attention again? I hold algonquin, a average of $9.10

if they sell renewables to raise money - it means their direction has gone south which is for sure NO for me. I'd be looking at the dividend payout ratio - specifically their cashflow payout ratio and see what their plans are for reducing debt and if they actually keep to their word.. (quality of execution). Its not entry point, but rather trust in management to do the right thing.

Hey Tracy, I will be just starting up my kids RESP upcoming here in April. I am wondering if you would go with SP 500/NASDAQ ETFS early for growth stocks, then slowly swap over to dividend stocks as the RESP builds to lower the risk. Cheers!

Really depends on your style of investing. ETFs are set it and forget it pretty much. I would work backwards from how you you use it for your kids. Some use it for tuition, others use it as a downpayment on a place for the kids, and others hold off until grad school. For me: Definitely growth was better because my kids were so young and I have Time to recover when markets drop which was many. Depends on your personality.

Hey Tracy, what are your thoughts on Visa and Mastercard? They are cash cows, but the valuations appear to be high.

I love the two companies becuase they are super cash cows like 40 percent margins! I haven’t checked valuations: I suggest a quick screen is looking at their price to earnings ratio now vs the past, it’s like comparing a price per lb of ground beef on the present to the past. You can find this on simply Wall Street, or a free resource like quickfs

Only if it pays US dividends then yes there’s a 15 percent with holding tax on the dividends. For example: google doesn’t pay US dividends so that doesn’t apply

This is a horrible investment if you're new to investing. You're really just banking on dividend income with fortis. The SPY will serve you much better if you have a longer horizon
