Hi, I have owned a Photon S for a few months now and can say that if you update the firmware Chitubox does work with the photon S. My FEP also came scratched but didn't reduce the print quality. The lcd screen compared to the original photon is not the same as the photon S. The Photon uses a Uv LED while the Photon S uses a UV Matrix. where I live the Epax x1 costs more than the photon S which makes it a better buy for me.

Fellow X1 owner here! Just got mine last week. Love that resin drain stand. I gotta do that.

Amazing video and made me decide to go with the EPAX X1 but eye contact every few minutes would at lest be nice, otherwise just show other stuff instead of a face cam with you looking to the side.

Nice review - helped me decide on the Epax (was leaning that way already). Would love to see more about the dimensional accuracy of prints, how that is affected by cleaning/curing, etc.
@MattBilsky5 жыл бұрын
Hi John, I can't really share too much about what I've learned but what I can say is that OCD helps. Cleaning is critical to fine detail. Curing under water seems to help as well. There is some information out there but for the most part engineering tolerances and dimensions are scarce in low-cost 3D printing. That's what you theoretically get when spending $5k on a better printer. But regardless, I've found that you can't do much better than a couple tho in absolute precision/accuracy. Hope this helps!

Hello! I am possibly getting a Epax this year for the holidays.. Can you comment on how you deal with fumes or any mods you have made to deal with resin fumes? I know several folks have made vent additions to hook up particle filters. Thanks for this video!

To be honest I just keep a window cracked in the attic, sometimes. I really don't notice them at all. I think Siraya Blu has been better than others but it's all relative. I also have heard of people adding filters, ducting the fan outside, etc. but I think the easiest solution is just to put it where people don't mind the smell

I got the EPAX X1 to work wirelessly...sort of. I had to use a wireless extender with an Ethernet port coming out of it. I connected the printer via the Ethernet port and it pulls down a IP address from my network (DHCP). Chitubox finds the address, sends the file to the printer's thumbdrive (yes, you have to leave the thumbdrive plugged in). Once it's sent, Chitubox asks if you want to print. Goes without saying that you should make sure your build plate is clear and resin's in the vat before hitting the print button.

That's how I do it as well. Although it is slower than molasses (or resin draining) to upload. I have some footage I just need to edit together showing my experiments.

Thanks Matt - very informative! Just ordered the Anycubic yesterday (rats!), but hopefully I won't have the curved build plate or other issues. Well if it doesn't work out, I'm getting the Epax! Besides the superior build of the Epax, you can't put a price on solid tech support.

You should be fine...there are plenty of happy Anycubic users. Check out the Photonsters on GitHub and on FB. People are very active and always willing to help there.

I really want one of these but not being the slightest bit interested in gaming, miniatures or jewelry making I'm searching high and low for an excuse... I use my filament printer to make practical things and for part prototyping, resin printing perhaps because of the size limitations seems more oriented to decorative things without much practical value. Unless that's what you're into, of course. At least that's the impression I get.

It's been fascinating to see how the resin printers have taken off in the miniature market. I don't do any of the things on your list. Most of my robotics development is done using FDM. But I bought it to do some mini gearbox development and I got some interesting results. Today I actually made some pcbs using it. I find it another tool in the mechatronics engineer's toolbox

Hola buenos días desde España muy buen video. Sería posible mezclar dos resinas en la batea, haciendo un efecto agua.
@MattBilsky5 жыл бұрын
I used google translate and it said you were looking for a water effect? is that a color or a texture? I have read about people mixing resins. You can also add dyes to the resin to change colors. If you put two different colors in the vat at opposite ends they may diffuse towards each other.
@universod35125 жыл бұрын

@@universod3512 I can visualize what you are describing. I don't think there are any precise formulas for it, but again, people have been mixing. It sounds possible and I don't think you'll break anything (no guarantees) so I think it's worth a try. A clear and a colored resin. Pour in opposite sides of vat then mix with your pattern. You'd have to print quickly otherwise they'll start to diffuse quickly
@universod35125 жыл бұрын
@@MattBilskyI would like to refer to that. I would like to thank you very much for the information.
