Thank you for your honesty. It's a real gem here on the internet, where everything is neatly arranged and mostly fake. Fake people, fake attitudes, fake feelings lead to fake lives. And who on earth wants that. :) I like your life philosophy, so I hope that you'll develop your chanal in that direction. Of course, life in Siberia is an interesting topic to learn and hear about. Greetings from Serbia. 🥰🥰🥰

Here is Natalia from Poland:) KZbin suggested your channel to me and I instantly fell in love with your content and the way you deliver it. I like the way you talk about ilusionary boundaries and still place we live in shaping somehow the way we are. I learned russian at Uni and was lucky to have wonderful teacher teaching us about your wonderful (and quite often similiar to Polish) culture. But the snow and frost you have there in Siberia! Oh! How lucky you are with that! Here in Poland winters are warmer and warmer, not that nice as in the times I was a child… I definitely would give a lot to live surrounded by that frost and snow! Hugs from warm, spring like Poland!

I understand what you are saying, I live in an outer suburb of a city and yearn to live in the country. I have had the well paid job and tried to live up to an ideal, I tried to fit in, but the more I tried I realised I lost myself. Living as far out from the city as I do, I appreciate the simple things in life. I don't want a big house or a fancy car, I am happy with a roof over my head, food on my table and a warm bed to sleep in. My cat, also a black cat, is my constant companion, I am also married but it is a very unconventional relationship, I never had children and now am facing my retirement. I do understand the pressure to fit in and to be socially acceptable, I choose not to do that. I love listening to and watching you, and it is lovely to learn about another part of the world and how alike we all are.

I'm 57 and 2 statements struck a chord in me.... We are basically the same. That is an epiphany. Second (new idea, and you can take full credit for it) Big cities can take over your personality. So can social media (its whole cities in itself). Being off all social media has been the best thing I've done towards becoming more self actualized. I'm not guided by a 👍🏽button. And I hope you never are, either, dear one

Hello Ana, I can fully relate to what you are talking about in this video. In my mid-twenties I thought I should become a policeman and went through the training quite near to my home village but ended up after four years to be sent to munich to serve duty for at least five years. After almost two years duty in munich I quit my absolutely well payed and safe job as an official and went back to my little home village. I did various low paying jobs afterwards but got back a few years later to the police again in a little town nearby as an employee in the administration which pays me significantly less in comparison to an official but I´m much better off with that, living single and somewhat modest. I feel more myself again and not soaked up by a big city and a lifestyle that I don´t really want. I am your new subscriber from germany and I like your videos, the topics and the way you present them and also especially those about high sensitivity because I see me in that kind of corner as well in some way... All the best to you! Heiko

I recently discovered your channel and I am enjoying your videos. When I was young and growing up in Canada I didn't have a lot of things but that didn't concern me at the time. I lived in the country and I had a happy childhood doing simple things like riding my bicycle, playing baseball ,going to the beach, fishing, etc. During that time we only had two channels on TV, so I spent most of my time outside or helping my father who was an autobody repairman. He had a little shop a home and worked in the city. Over time I learned the trade and made enough money to be able to go to university. I recently retired, and I spent most of my working life as a Project Manager in the petrochemical and IT industries. I have nothing to complain about as I was paid reasonably well and I was almost never out of work. My career was quite stressful though with lots of challenges related to working with people and adhering to tight, often unreasonable, deadlines. It's nice to be able to relax and to be free from stress. I definitely don't miss the corporate world and as long as ones needs are met, things aren't so important.

thank you for this video Ana! i am Romanian and living as an immigrant in the USA, since 2011, and in NYC since 2012. when i moved here in my early 20s i wanted to push myself creatively as a designer and illustrator. but the truth is that it doesn’t get easier in a big city like NYC; i instead became wiser and tougher but at one point it can feel like a circle! i think NYC is great as long as you find you inner balance, have friends, and a community along with a better life and work balance. all of which are still hard to manage at the moment. we move to big cities to achieve certain things, and the scary thing is that after years go by, we start to rethink what is next and changing things again is the hardest i am happy you feel better in Siberia, i do feel calmer when i am back in Romania, less anxiety caused by a big city, and a foreign country but i guess it is all a process and i hope to get more clarity soon good luck with everything and your channel! 😊

I lived in a small town until I moved to Bucharest where I worked for 14 years. The best years of my life were given to the big city and what I got in return was sadness and a strong feeling of "not belonging". The city made me angry because I felt I was surrounded by people who did not care about anyone but themselves. Everything was a competition and I wanted out. I left my country 9 years ago to come and live in Ireland where I could embrace the countryside. I don't miss Bucharest at all. I miss some people there, but certainly not the city. I think if I had stayed there longer I would have lost my identity completely. Leaving was the best thing I could have done.

Hi, Anna, wow, you’ve had some journeys in your life… I understand your choice, although I stayed in my big city now for a very long time. I’ve chosen 'the island way', that’s how I call it. Everywhere I create small islands, even in and around a tent. I’ve books of the nature with me, I draw or paint… If I talk about our garden, people think it’s a big one although it’s a tiny one (in a big city!), but with very various plants and small trees (figs and mulberries and a lot of others). I know all the green parts and the wilder parts around, plucking wild flowers and herbs. And I meet (or attract?) like minded people everywhere… We take seeds with us all the time and there are some islands around, we know we’ve planted them… My husband even adopted the wild middle of a roundabout and shared a lot of plants of our garden, installed some wooden signs, on which he wishes everybody a safe drive… meanwhile he got some support from a big hardware store. I guide interested people in the surrounding, where I teach them to find green places, put trash where it belongs, pick wild herbs, take a good 'forest bath' and show my books about all that, show how to bake healthy bread (we’ve a little mill) and if you ever come to our town, you’ll be disappointed at first: an ugly industrial town. With a lot of 'islands' from people like us. Good luck in Siberia! Share more about your life. One of my best painting friends is from Siberia, she told me a lot about it. Love from Germany, Monika❣

I hope that Covid 19 will be over soon so we could travel freely again. Your viewer from Alaska. Just subscribed.

Thank you so much for this, Ana, it was just as interesting to hear as I had thought it would be. Some very good points worth thinking about, and I can certainly relate to some. And of course don't share anything you're not comfortable with, seeing Ulysses, and Siberia is more than good enough to watch. Have a lovely day in frosty Siberia. 💜

Happy New Year to all. I am new in your channel. Thank you for your bright smile and for sharing with us your story. i was listening your story very carefully and we have so many common things. I have also moved from my village to the city. I study hard, I bought my car, my furniture, then I bought my house and I am still feeling this small girl in the village with poor cloths in a big family, watching the airplanes in the sky and thinking if I will ever be in that airplane. I have travel a lot but my dream is one day to move back to my village and to wake up listening the birds and with the view of the mountains and the trees. Big Hugs my dearest and may God bless you and give you strength to do the things you like 🧡🧡🧡🧡

I live in a little village in the Netherlands and would not want to live in a big city. I too like to live mindful and minimal. 💕

You have discovered what it took me years to learn. Most of us thrive the best in a limited set of circumstances, and our real task is to find out which ones fit us best. Big city v. small town v. suburb, married v. single, parent v. childless, and a host of other traits and preferences we all have. It doesn't matter what is best for someone else, if its not right for you, and all the choices are equally valuable. I myself live in a big city, but I live a rather quiet, uncluttered and contemplative life. I already did all the "cool" city stuff, and now I avoid going out. Works for me! All the best from California.

Thank you for your candid honesty. You listened to your heart and are now living with integrity from your heart. Even when we don't know where that will lead us it is vital that we learn to. Love and light to you ❤️

Societal expectations of marriage/relationship, parenthood, home owner, vehicle owner, dressing in latest fashion (wearing brand names), etc can cause a great deal of stress for some people. I prefer smaller cities than big ones. I admire your tenacity to do what feels best for you. I like your beautiful black cat. Keep marching to the beat of your own drum. 👏🏽Bravo.

Thank you for your video and for sharing your thoughts and your experiences. There are so many videos out there of people claiming new ways of living minimalistic, but many of them feel fake and part of just another trend . I can relate with almost everything that you said in your conversation and can recognize by experience a beautiful person that has walked the walk and had found new insight and a way of living that makes them happy. All of the best with your journey forward.

Thank you Ana! You approach every topic with such emotional and intellectual depth and honesty. Big cities. I lived in San Francisco for 36 years and loved it. But perhaps I was at least partially following the crowd. But I am 72 and have lived in many places, big and smaller. I think, in the end, being true to yourself comes through growth and learning, and can happen anywhere. Perhaps it was easier for you to be comfortable in Siberia, but I feel certain you would have achieved your wisdom and kindness wherever you were. I’m struggling with being alone so much and longing for companionship. But somehow watching your videos and hearing your calming voice helps me.

I was living in the city all my life, working in big corporation and flying high until I decided to sort of throw away the old canvas for a new slate. It was a total start over and very scary too. I travelled for about 3 years then decided to take a very long walk alone on one of the world’s longest trail which was the Pacific Crest Trail in the US which took about 5 months. For several weeks after my return, I had to live life like an owl. I slept during the day and only leave the hotel room to find food to eat in the middle of the night because suddenly, the noise and busy-ness of being back in the city felt way too overwhelming. It was a big surprise to me as I never realized before that it was really so much in the city compared to being alone in the wild. Quite mind blowing in fact. It’s been 3 years and I am now living at a quiet residential area about 30-40km away from the nearest city and 350km from the capital. I have learned to appreciate the quiet and subleties of a more mundane living environment away from of the hectic and buzz of big cities and more importantly, living simpler life with lesser. That 5 month living on the trail for the most part, surviving with only basic necessities and sleeping in a tent every night in the wild has convinced me that I don’t need a lot to be happy. 😍 I have way more stuff than what I had on the trail but way less than I ever had in my whole life. Moderation works perfectly for me and I’m at peace most of the time. It’s been a wonderful and pleasant transition overall.
