It has too many people over too vast a territory. Brazil is the same way but Brazil at least lacks the imperial baggage and evil nationalist religion. I would opt for Brazil for more serenity but Belize has English as a common language and I am not fluent in Portuguese (Brazil's language).

And that's just for starters. I don't want to wake up, work, sleep and repeat. That is literally the definition of living in America. My family grew up what we would call lower to middle class in the islands. And they had nannies and caretakers, house keepers. Here.... you have to be rich for that stuff. I ha e a great job, I make a good living, and I'm checking my bank account to make sure my ends will meet. 🤦🏿♀️ it shouldn't be like this!

So many truths you speak. To have discovered these truths at such a young age makes me so envious. Everything you said I can relate to, except for being black - although I have two mixed-race daughters who felt/feel very much like you did/do. It also made me sad how your soul was suffocating in a country that is supposed to be the shining example of freedom. I know exactly what that feels like. America is toxic. We've lost our way and I fear we won't be able to get back on the path and are too stuck in our ways to forge a new one, a better one. My favorite quote from you, among many, is you just wanted to breathe. My soul has been suffocating for decades and I felt so free in Belize. That I could truly be myself there. That I could finally breathe. We are a mixed couple married for 33 years and in Belize no one gave us funny looks like we still get here in the States. No one shunned me for having a black husband. Ladt year, after three visits over three years, my husband and I purchased property near a small fishing village in Northern Belize. We can't afford to build just yet, but hopefully we'll be permanent residents in five years or less. I always say I wish we could've discovered Belize when we were younger and I'm so very glad you did. I'm interested in your journey through life and perhaps we'll run into each other one day. Live free, my friend...and just breathe!

You dropped so many quotable gems in this video. I've had a hard time putting what you delineated into words. The part that really stuck with me is when you mentioned that you're not able to be yourself. Even if you move out of your home state, those people from your childhood, church, college, work, etc still follow you through social media. That doesn't change anything because it's still the same culture. Everywhere in America, the same overarching values persist: Capatilsim-first, soul-sucking work environments, and an illusion of freedom when in actuality we're indirectly forced into the status quo through immense societal pressure (i.e., everybody ganging up on you if you have a dissenting opinion). Also, American soiceity enforces these rigid archetypes on us: If you act outside of the archetype that has been pushed on you (e.g., the funny guy, the sweet girl), then people say "you're switching it up". It's exhausting and I found that you NEED to conform to the narrative to survive in the states. You mentioned this as well. I'll be sharing this with all my brothers and sisters looking for change. Thanks for the post.

Love this comment! Thank you so much for watching and for sharing your perspective so clearly. I have learned that people are people where ever you go. Even afterl these few years in Belize I can see the way people hold on to comfort and the "status quo" as a way to avoid change or having to grow or think for them selves. Great soundtrack!! I love the background music. I’m from California and ever since I’ve been little I’ve always felt like the American lifestyle is not the move. Everything here is so superficial and I actively surround myself with down-to-earth people but in addition to being Black in America, the American Dream requires you to be asleep. I never intended on staying here but once I finish college in the Summer of 2021, I’m hoping to pursue my desires of traveling the world and leaving America to do international Work. But the real reason I want to leave is to feed my soul. It’s very intoxicating when you see your friends family and loved ones be suppressed in some way shape or form spiritually, mentally, or even physically from expressing themselves because of the society we live in. It’s the most painful thing that goes on every single day and I don’t know if it’s an American thing or if it’s a Western Culture thing but I have always treasured the idea of getting away from it all, looking ahead no turning back. Thanks for the video, very inspirational!!

You've helped make sense of the shift I've had the last few years.. Bare with me, Im just goung to flow because Im writing about this very thing right now. Always seeking truth. Raised as a middleclass, right-wing, conservative, truth seeking christian. Joined the military, served with pride in 2 wars, decorated combat vet, always seeking truth. I went to school, became a Pastor in a world renown denomination , taught college level christian theology, biblical history and enjoyed biblical languages and was a gun toting member of the N.R.A. I've lead a few missions into 3rd. World countries, building orphanages, preaching the good news and leading people to my truth. I was living AND seeking truth.. it was through language that i was finally faced with some undeniable truths. Truths I didn't want to accept or admit and therfore spent a few years trying to disprove those supposed truths which only exposed my truth as not so truthful. Things didnt line up when looked at in the overall, global veiw. Different stories and histories from far away cultures. It wasnt easy to admit once I found I was wrong and it cost me dearly once I accepted it. I had found the truth and once I realized that I had been hypnotized into believing a false reality, and I mean EVERY STINKING PART from our history, our military our education, our money, our culture, the entire story of the U. S. all had been imprinted on me through THEIR vision. I was inoculated, indoctrinated, MILITARIZED (?) classified, pastorized and if you werent then you were criticized. "Tonights PROGRAMMING brought to you by__(if ya don't have this your not normal_co. _) right here on your centrally placed "TELL A VISION". I simply hit my knees and had my eyes and spirit opened. The most devastatingly beautiful blow to my ego had hit me square in my soul and I fell into a heap brokeness. Convulsing deeply with tears. My soul purging with the pain of confession, repentance and self forgivness. The self forgivness for being a part of the largest terroristic group ever known to mankind. From its manifest destiny to its constant war mongering. Claiming love and service when we actually involked fear, famine and death so we could secure their resources for ourselves. The shift was like trying to take a drink of wayer from a fire hose. But, Ive made it through and have grown to be thankful for those lessons, I got stuck there linger than I wish I had but hey, my creator had my dumb ass the whole time, I just had the name wrong, my heart was right for the most part. I love people and I love being of service, Im better without all that narcisistic ego stuff. I say all that to say thank you. You're a breath of fresh air and thats coming from the heart of a man with a severe melonin deficiency who doesn't see you as black but as a beautiful, righteous and couragoues woman. Im proud of you! Side note. Theres okenty of naysyaers from my previous life that think the cheese has slid completely off this cracker. Love.

You give hope to this old woman. It's so rare to find someone who's awakened from the nightmare - I'm so happy for you. I clicked on this because we're thinking about moving to Belize, expecting to get a Black perspective on living there, and while you didn't really say much about your actual move or such you did say more than I expected about Life. Bless you.

Thanks for sharing your video and your experience. Your video is inspiring. I have been wanting to get out of America for so long. Every time I mention leaving Babylon, my husband responds saying “ how are we going to move to another country it takes money, and what would we do for money, etc.... I have had such hatred for this country for several years and even more so now with all that’s going on. I have been watching videos people post from the African continent, Mexico, Japan. You are correct that you can’t be yourself as a black person in America due to the stereotypes and the expectation from society on what we should look like, or how we should talk or dress. I know that I am Afro-Asian descent according to my DNA. I would like to see more videos of Belize. The countries I’m interested in are Merida, Mexico; Seychelles; Belize; Tanzania;Ghana; and Pretoria South Africa. Hoping and praying that we can leave this country soon and truly be free. Thanks for the encouraging video. Blessings!

Hi there! First off, pleased to meet you, fellow Ohioan here! And I COMPLETELY agree with you..being here is hindering me and holding me back, also supressing my art and music. I am desperate to leave, and trying to convince my bf to get his passport and travel with me, when safe again. We have both been in Ohio all our lives, and I have nothing keeping me here. I am risky, I am willing to pack my things and go elsewhere. I am a traveler just like you, I would travel here and there, for concerts, conventions, meeting people, eating foods, you name it. I became co-dependent of being here, and it has FINALLY broken away from me after so many years. I had to let go of all that. It wasn't me. And it is time, and has been time, to leave. My bf is an artist as well, I tell him time and time again that we need to leave here and pursue our dreams. I am in my 30s and he is in his 40s, and I have done tons of research of places to live and be ourselves..I, myself especially, as a black woman. Belize has been on the list, and I am liking this video to show him. Living here in the States how shown me how much I do not belong. I do not like it here. I am unhappy, and that happiness needs to come out. I have a large spirit and lots of energy, and I want to be more of myself than I am here. It is beyond toxic here, the capitalism and money hungry people drive me NUTS. I want to also, much like you, know what it's like to live in my skin..my black skin, outside of living here. To feel like a person, feel like I'm heard and seen. And that is not here. Thank you so much for this video! I wish you well and a beautiful life! You have a new subbie

OMG I just said all these things to my friend today. I know she think I am going crazy. America is toxic. I am codependent. Taking pills....that's right....girl!!! Learning stuff in school that isn't true.....seeing things on TV as they want you to know that's not true. You're on point. Is there more than my color of skin. Who am I? My great great grandmother is a Dark Indigenious woman...I held the picture of her wearing her feathers and her moccasins. Yet, I keep hearing America tell me Africa is where I am from. They are so convincing...I'll give them that but my spirit screams for freedom. You inspire me. I have this persona but I hide in a dark corner and cry because I can't find ME! Thank you for this video.
