You're such a great player, Shawn, your demos are a big reason why I own 6 Pettyjohn pedals. I mostly play 2x12 cabs, and I like when speakers compliment each other. I can't find anything that pairs well with a EVM12L, so I also ended up checking out Celestion. For 1-30W amps, I have a 2x12 loaded with a Celestion Alnico blueback and a G12H30 70th anniversary. For my 50W amps I have a 2x12 loaded with a Celestion Alnico Goldback and a G12H30 70th anniversary, but I'm thinking of trying a G12H75 cremeback in that cab. And finally, for 100W watt amps, I have a 2x12 loaded with a V30 and a G12H100. Cheers.

I've been using V30's since the 90's with my Mesa 1 x 12 and 2 x 12 Recto cabs. Just love the mid range cut they provide in live mixes and yet still pack a low end punch with smooth highs for me (Rivera TBR 1-M rack amp head).

Yeah those speakers sound great.

Right now I have an open back 2x12 Orange with V30s that I really like but definitely want to try a closed back version to see the difference. Also have Greenback loaded 2x12 that can be open and closed that also sounds pretty good, but I've never done a true comparison like this with them. Mostly run them in stereo if not just the V30s. Also excited for the 2x12 (V30/Creamback75H) I'll be getting with my Generator 120. Should be a blast.

Yeah, I think the V30/75H in an X pattern sounds really good!

I love both the V30 and the cream, i utilise a mix of the 2 in my zilla studio pro, alternating between a G12H and a neo cream. My next zilla cab however is likely to go the other way with a neo V and a alnico cream mostly as a test. But all in Celestion are in my heart (live a stones throw from the original factory in Ipswich Uk)

V30s are always great, but my favorite Celestion is the G12K-100. It’s so incredibly balanced.

Right on! I have yet to try that speaker.

Thanks Shawn! This was great! Awesome to hear them back to back. I definitely agree with your assessment. Vintage 30 for the win! 🤘🏼

I remember the revv cabinet used to come with wgs veteran 30s over the celestino vintage 30 (which I think the newer batches changed to recently). I love both, but would love your input if you know why the change was made. Really like the revv amps with the wgs.
@AdrianNWB3 жыл бұрын
If I remember correctly, Derek from Revv mentioned on one of their livestreams that they had run into some supply issues with WGS.

I just bought the BluGuitar Fat Cab to have a closed back option for my Syn30 Combo (I figure a Friedman BE isn't meant to be heard from an open back cab). Also to have something not everyone else has.

Wow great video Shawn. Wonderful comparison. Vintage 30s hands down. Have you tried the Celestion V30 cab update for UAD Ox? If so what are your thoughts? Thanks so much Shawn. Stay well and safe. Cheers.

Yea, I def like the V30 for a 1x12.. I recently swapped out a NeoCrm65 for a WGS Vet 30 and couldn't be happier. One thing to note: if you plan on getting a Cele V30, get the one from UK or get it from the Mesa shop and do NOT get the ones made in China. (This is not race hate.) I personally bought a new V30(China batch) and A/B'd it with a UK one and they are NOT the same speaker. I went with WGS Vet30 just out of curiosity, and was pleasantly surprised and relieved that it was closer, if not more in the same voice as a UK V30, than the ChinaV30.. I agree with all your points on the speaker voicings , as I grew up influenced in the same way musically, through the 80s😅👍

V30 mixed with either a creamback or greenback. I kno the newer revv two notes ir has a creamback in the 4x12 but i wonder when the version with the creamback miced will be releaed if it will be.

Yeah, the V30/Creamback combo in an x pattern is pretty great sounding.
@JackNance223 жыл бұрын
The Creamback and V30 sound very different, but I like them both. The V30 sounds more well-rounded and suitable for multiple styles, whereas the Creamback seems more suited for a "signature sound". It's interesting to hear the impact a speaker makes, great comparison.

The Creambacks are very versatile are not just suited for a signature sound .. They are designed to be a speaker that can cover vintage and Modern . They are meant to bridge the Gap between the vintage low powered speakers and the modern higher wattage speakers. Many modern voiced higher Gain amp manufacturers are using Creambacks as stock speakers and their versatility is the reason why . The Creamback M and Creamback H combo are one of the most versatile combos you can get and are highly recommended for both vintage and modern amp circuits.

I like the vintage 30 but I have my love and hate about it, on a fender HRD i tether prefer a creamback g-12m 65 it's just give that sounds you want to play many different genre of music especially thru a fender Hod rod deluxe series amps
@ShawnTubbs3 жыл бұрын
I think the Creamback in an American-voiced amp is really nice sounding.

I think V30s are great, but the difference between them vs any of the others demoed here was so infinitesimal compared to anything you would do with the amp, compressor or eq

That might be true but there's always that 10 percent variable that all of us guitar players are after. ;)

Playing GT12t-75 since 96. Love them. Had old Mesa boogie metall grill 2x12's before that, black shadow on Top. Didnt like them
@ShawnTubbs3 жыл бұрын
The GT has a softer top end for sure over the Black Shadow which could be a bit strident, especially in that cabinet.
