After living in southeast Asia for over 3 straight years. It is almost time for me to pack up and move back.

One thing living in China has taught me is being a minimalist. If you have learnt that too - and I know you did with those videos of 120US/m flats for rent- your return to Canada will be a glory. Most Canadians are not used to that. This means you find a 60k+ job and rent a studio, buy a 2nd hand Honda Civic 2008, cook your own food (now that's a learning curve for you ;-)). You'll come back to Thailand in 2-4 years and can purchase a land & build a hotel ("Thom's Hotel" ?). And I'll be your first guest :-) All the best and hope you keep this channel alive. You have a unique perspective to offer and thanks for that.

People think Thailand is cheap, yes 25 to 30 years ago it was cheap, I come from the UK and was getting 75 baht to £1 English pound now I am getting 41 baht to £1 English pound, if you have any problems where you need to go to a hospital you will need a mortgage to pay for the bill, in England I get free healthcare, plus if you have a accident with a Thai person you will be the one paying if you were in the right you will still be paying for there bike or car plus if they go to hospital you will pay the bills. Plus if your thinking of selling your house in the west and buying a place with a Thai girl, go to your doctor and have your head looked at first, when your money runs out or starts to get low, that’s when they will move on to the next man and clean him out, I have seen it so many times, I only go to Thailand for two weeks of the year with my girlfriend no she is not Thai, don’t get me wrong there are some good Thai girls but there are a lot of bad ones waiting for your money, if you do go rent a place, and rent the girls, never stay with them for more than one night, there are plenty of them to have a different one every day, good luck and stay safe.

If you still young and has a good job in Canada, there's no point to move to Thailand. Save more money, retire early and then move to Thailand. I love Thailand and planning to move to Chiang Mai later this year. But after my last visit in January, I changed my mind because I found that the cost of living is quite high compare with last year and it is increasing. Also everywhere is jammed with tourists and not as peaceful as before. You are lucky you have a Thailand Passport that you can go back anytime in case you change your mind.

I live in Jomtien about 6 k outside Pattaya so I have the best of both Worlds. Jomtien doesn't have a lot of bars but many restaurants but Pattaya has anything you want, bars discos and huge shopping malls plus the beach.

I am looking at Taiwan these days. Most westerners can get free on arrival travel visa for 3 months without anything and can extend it for another 3 months for free. If you are Canadian or English, staying 6 months in Taiwan and 6 months in Canada should also qualify you for the Free Healthcare for the whole year. (Though I haven't try this, correct me if I am wrong)

There ain't a horse that can't be rode, There ain't a cowboy that can't be throwed, There ain't a thing that can't be bought, There ain't a man that can't be caught. I appalled this Tuber for taking his shot at what he visualised as being his destiny. No one can ever take that away from him. And I am sure he is smarter for having taken that leap of faith. I made a similar decision a few years back after having traveled throughout southeast Asia for the better part of 10 years (periodic vacations). Thought I had it all figured out. Thankfully I was able to pull the plug at $30k left in savings. But let me tell you, actually pulling that plug must have been akin to going cold-turkey of crack cocaine or heroin because brothers I was definitely hooked on bouncing around southeast Asia as if I was a blind man looking for a set of new eyes. Too much freedom can be a bad thing if you have never had full ownership of it. But man, the absolute wisdom gained from going through something like that is incredibility powerful once you have recovered financially. Keyframe5, I wish you all the best. Do what you need to do to get right in the pockets again man!!!!

In the UK the major identifiable benefit is free health cover. The NHS costs £2,000 per head. Most of that is on the old. The average cost for the young is much lower. Thai insurance companies obviously exclude people with huge health problems. People with these problems probably wouldn't move out of a country with free cover. The cost of providing health services is lower in Thailand because the cost of labour (and most everything else) is lower. *So why the hell is health cover in Thailand so expensive?* Okay, maybe long-term residents in Thailand have funny characteristics: drinking, smoking and the like. But it still seems expensive. I think the real price should be 1,000 baht a month, or thereabouts.

It was always a holiday . Hundreds and thousands of Thais would kill to have a better financially stable life in the West . Most Farangs want to go to Thailand in their retirement . Thailand can't sustain a farang who doesn't have his own money from the West ,or an income or a pension , and it's getting harder seeing they have to leave 800000 baht permanently in a bank account . Back to reality . Still a fun place ,great holiday destination , people should go there and enjoy it .

Definitely I agree with that. Been in Thailand for 10 years. Had two thai wives. First I was with over two years. She was not a bar girl. Worked in a hotel. Turns out she had a thai husband. 2nd wife had another boyfriend whilst I worked away. Found out by her texting the wrong person. Almost 3 years with her. She was not a bar girl. She designed clothes for a fashion designer . She married an Australian man. 1 year later she wants to come back to me. Should have bought a condo. I lost two houses. Being now single I have met many ladies but they are jealous, selfish and unfortunately do not have the same understanding. I actually find professional ladies have the same hang ups as the bar girl. As many professional women are not paid that highly I have met many who work night shift as it were. A lady who works the street can earn at least 60000 baht a month. A nurse will not make 20000 baht. I know many ladies who have a thai husband or boyfriend who also have a farang taking care of her. Thailand is good but forget the thai wife. Rent only and enjoy eating and travelling. Buy a condo but remember immigration law may one day stop you living here. Especially as you get older and have more health concerns.

But I suppose that life is far more lucrative in the West, at least gives the ability to build up a chunk of cash for investment or creating some sort of business, that can be run online. Whatever you are going to do I wish you great success. On the fiming side of things, you have have a real skill for it. Including your narrating. You have a listenable quality to your voice. So the money is half what you would earn in the west but the cost of living is less as well. Resources are running low, I understand, could you not take a job teaching in Chiang Rai? Basically you have run out of money and have to go back to Canada to make some more. I have lived here for 8 years and have no problems with "resourses". You are obviously Thai born or otherwise you wouldn't get a Passport.

Check out these remote recruitment websites: www.yonder.io/post/remote-work-job-boards and www.itkariera.com/fwd/the-best-sites-for-finding-remote-work/ I am leaving Thailand and going to Malaysia as Thai immigration is really scary and I don't have the time or money for all that running around! You're very lucky you don't have to deal with that! Glad to hear you're open to exploring your options :)

@@Keyframe5 I hope so too. Three months on entry for Malaysia, without doing anything. It's constant bureacracy in Thailand which I respect coming from a country (Ireland) where they hand out passports like sweets. But on my last visa run, I was taken to a back room and told, 'Show money! Show money!'. Why? Because I didn't have a two-month visa in this instance and was just going to get the 30 days at the border instead. Perfectly fine, but somehow this makes me a target! Go figure! That was enough convincing for me! Malaysia seems much less expensive and the two-tier pricing system (Thai and falang price) gets annoying after a while. Apart from that, it's been amazing. But definitely time to move on after seeing what goes down at immigration. A Spanish guy was also asked to pay a €100 'tip' for no apparent reason! I have been in Thailand for six months. How are all these DNs managing to stay here for years at a time? Best of luck with your job search! Keep us posted! :)

@TravelBug you're supposed to have cash with you when entering the country, but immigration rarely enforces it before unless they think something is suspicious about you.. maybe they think you are trying to live long-term with a tourist visa. The amounts of cash you need vary for different visas (it could also be in other currency equivalents to the Thai baht): 1. Transit Visa holder: Must hold minimum THB 10,000 per passenger or THB 20,000 per family. 2. Tourist Visa holder: Must hold minimum THB 20,000 per passenger or THB 40,000 per family. 3. Visa on Arrival: Must hold minimum THB 10,000 per passenger or THB 20,000 per family. 4. Non-Immigrant Visa holder: Must hold minimum THB 20,000 per passenger or THB 40,000 per family. If they ask for money and you didn't do anything wrong (overstay) then don't give it to them. Those digital nomads probably have an Education visa or business visa. You can get them for about $1000 each. Even if you don't have a business here. You have to know where to find it.

This is painful to listen you. Your halting English is made far worse because it seems like you have no script, no plan, no guide you've set for yourself in making your points. You might try recording in very short clips and getting it smooth and perfect. You probably want it to sound spontaneous but unfortunately your English is just not good enough. You struggle to find words so your speaking is constantly being paused as your brain seeks the words you need to express yourself. Short clips may help this a lot. Think exactly what you want to say and get it said flawlessly no matter how many takes it requires. One sentence at a time perhaps. Then the video will flow. And why in the world are you reading comments? Once again your English is too slow. Its like listening to an 8 year old trying to read, stumbling, halting on word after word. Just display the comments. Most of us can read just fine. Or show them in the Description of the video. You're taking way too long to get to the point. So I gave up. Way too many other videos out there from people that can get to the point fast. KZbinrs think they are superstars and they have this vast following. Its laughable. Solve people's problems fast....that's what the world wants and needs.
