I don't think it's a big deal not to have 48mm mode, because the sensor uses Quad-Bayer filter which means the effective resolution is 12 MPx and when you use 2X crop, you end up with upscaled 3 MPx photo. It's useless if they don't have sensor shifting to get more details in the shot.

@branimirteodorovic22976 ай бұрын
The main reason why I wouldn't buy Xperia phone is, the gap between between 24mm and 85mm focal length of main camera and telephoto camera is too big. Also, it doesn't make sense to stick to single exposure approach to photography while at the same time using smaller sensors than the competition. If I was making a smartphone for photographers and content creators, I would go with 20mm, 35mm (or 40mm) and 85mm focal lengths. The sensors would be as big as possible to fit a camera bump similar to Nokia 808 camera bump. I would put a Xenon flash with a diffuser. Instead of using single exposure, I would make sensors that support staggered HDR and use those two simultaneous exposures to boost the dynamic range. And I would never use high resolution Quad-Bayer filter, because it's only purpose is to help the marketing team. I would stick to 12 MPx sensor.

Not a fanboy here, but also not a flagship camera phone buyer: because of the price, the phone is constantly compared with those large clunky camera flagships, which is an entirely different market. I will never use a clunky phone because it has a great camera. At this stage I would just take a point and shoot camera with me and have battery for the whole day of shooting, and have better pictures.

Ive testing now the 1 VI for 2 weeks now. And i am impressed with the Battery life the heat management is better than on my S24 Ultra. What was actually before the 1 VI the coolest and best battery life phone. But the 1 VI kicked my S24U. To photography i see some improvements when not much compared to my 1 V, but their are improvements. Especially seflie video and video alll around. Macro shots coming by me out pretty good. And very impressive too. And now i compare the macro with my Huawei Pura 70 Ultra, that is to this moment still the macro king. All around i think the 1 VI is in terms of battery heat management and some camera improvements are pretty solid phone. But would i upgrade from are 1 V? I think no. But the new form factor i kinda like the wider screen ratio. But its also taste 😅i think the 1 VI is worth for people that are Sony fans but dont have the 1 V already. Or for people that wilm try are sony smartphone. But for me the big pros are heat management and battery life. By me it goes up to 4 Days with 5h38min. Of SoT. I make are first impressions after almost 11 days on my X account. @Fujiwar79319671 But i also understand your video and i agree with you for that kind of price and that little changes is it sad. As an Xperia user, most of this is spot on. I'd say it's not worth the upgrade from the 1 V but good enough if you came from anything older than that. However, if you're not into macro, losing 4K or longer zoom rangers, the 1 V is 90% 1 VI and cheaper, or go Vivo or Xiaomi which is cheaper and stronger hardware wise but not software wise, if you dislike Chinese software that is. 1 VI seems to be the first generation of Xperia's new approach, which moves away from professionalism and gradually targets common users. Therefore sony fan boys seem to be dissatisfied with 1VI. Because of those changes, 1VI's sales are better than 1V's. But it seems they have lost some of the unique features of Xperia. So many people feel disappointed. And losing a certain strength in the eyes of opponents, with an amount not much cheaper than 1V, it does not stand out from the opponents. I heard that 1VII has comprehensive changes. @ShibiChanАй бұрын
I linked an original interview in the pinned comment. I clearly state in the video I'm talking about the 1V not receiving what was promised, not the 1VI. It's up to you whether you care or not about a company like this directly backpedaling against something previously promised. If you don't care, that's great. But if you do care, then this is something that should be called out more. The feature promised was different to that than a standard 2x crop on a main shot. I mention the 5V as the aforementioned feature was available on it, further proving that Sony had the capability to follow through on their promise for the 1V. I've used Sony since they started their new 1 and 5 series. I'm tired of supporting a company that so blatantly doesn't care about their customers or pursue meaningful innovation. If you like the SD card and headphone jack that's cool, buy the phone then. But I review devices based on their cameras and how these companies advertise the devices as portable shooting options. And the 1VI, for it's asking price, is a terrible value imo. Thanks for watching though

Loved your video & your thoughts on the Xperia 1 Mark 6. I do agree with you on many of the things you've mentioned, ditching the 21:9 AR is a big downside. But what is most disappointing is the quality of optics or sensors they opted to use in these phones. I'm sure if they really wanted to improve they could, with all the blabbering about their Sony Alpha optics team integration into the making of these devices., yet they still can't put a 1" sensor into their phone ..... But can totally sell one to the competition !!! I guess they really don't care about their pro consumers anymore. I believe they have lost their vision & decided they want a piece of that bigger pie so they started following the new trend of devices & while they maintained some of the good features like having a Micro USB expansion & headphone jack, they are still far behind the competition.. I still like the old Sony Xperias & that's why I wait until I see these devices go extremely cheep & then buy them. I mean I've literally bought a 5 Mark 3 for around 80 bucks & a 1 Mark 4 for 130 bucks which are both good deals in my opinion. however, while I do like natural look & feel of images & videos that come out of these cameras, as well as the amount of customizability offered in their photography apps, the quality is still wildly out dated in comparison to the competition. 3:58 couldn't agree more. Sony has been lagging behind innovation wise and it shows
@ShibiChan6 ай бұрын
It's sad because they have every opportunity to innovate and truly stand out, but continuously choose not too. It's pretty disappointing
@dtay89136 ай бұрын
I agree but I don't think they're any better or worse than their main competition. Samsung s24 ultra us the same as the s23 ultra down to the 22 ultra. Apple doesn't innovate at all, and Google just works on software. I do think it was foolish of them to ditch the 4k screen, but at least they kept the headphone jack and expandable storage, which are two massive wins for me personally. They did innovate with the continuous zoom camera, which to my knowledge, is the only phone that offers that.
@ShibiChan6 ай бұрын
@@dtay8913 I agree that in concept the continuous zoom is innovative, but the fact that they charge a premium for it is not okay imo. 10 times out of 10, shooting the Xperia at the fastest f-stop then cropping into the desired focal length will yield a better result than if you used the variable zoom. You get less light the further you zoom, and more moving parts leads to much for room for error. This likely plays a large part in the streaking seen from point light sources when using the telephotos since the 1IV. So to me it doesn't feel much like an innovation, and more like a gimmick
@jamesstratton186 ай бұрын
@@dtay8913 right. I don't think any of the top phone brands have been innovating in the last few years. Major brands have all jumped on the same train as AAA video games, merely releasing a reskin of the previous model in a new coat of paint. It's pretty sad to see, but people still gobble it up as though it's worth the yearly $1K+ cost. My point was Sony felt like an outlier with their camera phones until as of late.

Here are reasons why you SHOULDN'T pass in comparison with V: 1. Bravia AI tuned screen 2. 1.5x brighter screen 3. 120fps LTPO 4. Much much better battery performance (14+ hour SOT v.s. 7.5 hour SOT(V)) 5. Macro mode 6. Longer zoom range 7. Unified camera interface 8. Camera glass is chipped in(more protective against wears and tears) 9. Much better heat ventilation 10. Optimized sound quality over 3.5mm headphone jack 11. Wifi7(6E for V) 12. Dynamic FPS in game 13. High density battery with 1+ year more life 14. Better Hifi direct sound output 15. Bluetooth 5.4(5.3 for V) 16. Better night photography quality 17. Intelligent charging mode 18. Snapdragon 3 + A750 = 25% performance boost You know how Samsung(AKA Note7 grenade factory) improves their phone by squeezing little improvement year by year? Sony gave us a huge bundle in VI this year. I own V and it goes to my happy daddy after I get VI. If you stick with Sony, you made the right choice and you should continue to do it, bro!
@gamesnic3 ай бұрын
60% of this is actual shill talking bro the hell is as example Better Hifi direct sound output supposed to mean?? Or optimized sound quality? If you know about sound, these things would be straight up marketing and not matter. Just alone the fact that you said that Bluetooth 5.4 is another upgrade when it comes WITH THE CHIP is incredible. LTPO is several years late and even the 1.5x extra brightness doesn't match up with other phones in the market at all. That Bravia AI tuned screen isn't of any use either, all I want is a properly accurate OLED screen (which literally every phone nowadays has) and actual proper direct sunlight brightness, which the VI neither marks. Oh, note aside, WiFi 7 is also a PART OF THE CHIP! And if you would've ever looked at samples from the zoom camera you'd know it's useless with its noisy and soft output

@@gamesnic I've used the phone(Xperia 1 vi) for a few months now. Bro, I've completely forgotten the specs. I would say it's well balanced and quite smooth to use. The battery never dropped to below 20% with heavy usage. All phone cameras are scams 😂 I have two decent cameras with zoom, wide angle and macro lens. The image quality is far better than VI.

Waiting for the pixel 9 pro to see how that is and depending on that will depend on what I upgrade to from my 1IV. The 1VI hasn't changed from mine as you say, it's got the same shit telephoto which takes blurry pics and unusable in low light without a tripod. Also the 2018 level of detail wide angle camera. All my gear is sony, camera, headphones, TV etc but I'm looking forward to get rid of the phone. Average at best camera without any editing
