It's not perfect, it does have very slight vignetting, and the center is sharper than the edges, but I don't think it's nearly as bad as some other lenses I've seen for phones. I plan to do more videos on it, and I have a lot of videos planned but haven't gotten to them yet. I've been quite busy with regular life stuff so I hope to get around to it soon ~

That's true and the quality is just massively better 😅, but there's a difference between carrying a phone lens (considering that the phone includes multiple focal lenghts), and carrying a proper camera with its lenses

Using an S24U atm, video quality is pretty mediocre. Overprocessed and oversharpened garbage. Mcpro24fps/MotionCam save it. Sony video is unmatched. Xiaomi video is decent too.

I actually agree with you. It seemed to be much closer to 60mm when comparing with the Xiaomi's 75mm setup

@ShibiChan I had a lens from this company for 60 mm, 1.5x magnification. I was a little disappointed, as the image clarity suffered greatly. True, I was shooting with an open aperture. And by the way, happy new year!!!)

I doubt it is. I don't think that's something easily accessible to devs outside of Sony. I think instead it may have an option for the extreme ranges, but not an optical zoom feature. Basically whatever is visible via the API

It doesn't, on any app. Only Sony Pro apps will get you the full zoom range, unfortunately

I didn't get any vignetting with the Xiaomi 14 Ultra! Thankfully it seems to have been made with more modern phones in mind

I haven't had anything special on my little camera circle and haven't gotten any scratches yet. If you are concerned, you can get a sticker that covers most of the glass parts. But I recommend not putting anything in front of the lenses themselves, as it'll likely degrade image quality

@@saurav4180 I wouldn't put my phone in the same pocket as keys or loose coins though, because I'm sure then it would scratch up. I'm pretty particular about keeping my phone separate from other things

@@ShibiChan yeah, I'm vigilant about that, there's a case from nillkin which covers the camera island completely with a lid but aesthetics took a big hit imo, and it's really expensive like 50 usd here in india...

I linked an original interview in the pinned comment. I clearly state in the video I'm talking about the 1V not receiving what was promised, not the 1VI. It's up to you whether you care or not about a company like this directly backpedaling against something previously promised. If you don't care, that's great. But if you do care, then this is something that should be called out more. The feature promised was different to that than a standard 2x crop on a main shot. I mention the 5V as the aforementioned feature was available on it, further proving that Sony had the capability to follow through on their promise for the 1V. I've used Sony since they started their new 1 and 5 series. I'm tired of supporting a company that so blatantly doesn't care about their customers or pursue meaningful innovation. If you like the SD card and headphone jack that's cool, buy the phone then. But I review devices based on their cameras and how these companies advertise the devices as portable shooting options. And the 1VI, for it's asking price, is a terrible value imo. Thanks for watching though

It doesn't work well, it loses too much clarity in my opinion. These types of lenses are definitely designed with the main wide camera in mind
