I am 100% with you on this one. I have, and will continue, to skip games simply because they don't offer a physical copy. Heck, I don't even like digital distribution in the first place. IMHO, it can even be argued that it is slightly anti-consumer in that it removes control of the ownership of the "license to play" from the user and puts it in the hands of whoever owns the download and authentication servers. Yeah, maybe I am also a bit of a petty luddite, but I like knowing that if I am somewhere with no data connection, that I can still pop in my cartridge and play my game without the added cost of buying massively sized SD memory sticks. It is a double slap given the portable nature of the Nintendo switch.

Capcom should bring the DMC HD collection, DMC4 and DMC reboot to the Switch as well. It would sell on the system considering 5 will be out soon. Yes 5 won’t come to the Switch but, they could release those ones on it for fans that want the games. Preferably all physical but DMC Reboot could be digital and I’d be fine with that. But, seriously tho Capcom needs to stop with half physical and half digital. We want physical as well and not have to lose the games we have bought after the console shuts down!

I'm not buying if the games aren't on cartridges, I'm really tired of capcom f*cking people over I really wanted to repurchase Resident Evil Revelations, the Mega Man collections, and the upcoming Ace attorney Trilogy but wont pay money for a physical game that isn't completely physical and I wont support companies like Capcom who have the money to make physical copies of their games by buying them on the online shop. Just a correction - FFX/FFX-2 is on a SINGLE card in Asia. Not two cartridges. That's even more infuriating. Good news is the Asian version includes the english language option so most collectors should just buy those instead.

yup the logo on the game box should have a Square Enix and Bandai Namco, bcuz Bandai Namco help to distribute games in Asia and they do it right by putting FFX/X2 in 32gb switch Catridge. Overall game is 26gb!

This is why i buy certain games physical for certain consoles. Mainly playstation is my go to system for all my gamer needs. Only buy digitals for games i dont care too much for or if i have the physical already. One thing i wish Capcom and most ( all) game companies is to have inserts ( the cool booklets that came with games back in the day). I think living in Japan has given me perspective when it comes to digital vs physical collections. The Japanese frequent 2nd hand stores like crazy and never tend to hold onto things for the long run. I purchased resident evil 2 the week of release and not even a week in, the game was already traded in to several nearby stores. The Japanese never keep their games. That's probably why digital games aren't selling well and they have the option unlike the us. Just my opinion I could be wrong but this would explain why the most obscure titles get physicals and the us gets squat.

An update email dropped today. Both FFX and X2 will be on 1 cart for the Asia version(WITH ENGLISH SUPPORT). Play Asia has them. “The official distribution network for Asia has issued a correction regarding the physical cartridges included in the Final Fantasy X / X2 HD Remaster release for the Switch. I think the replay value is great for collecting aspects. Also with re4 brings me back to the Wii when it appeared then. Using that gun attachment for the will made the play different compared to console controllers. I originally did my first play through on ps2, but when I bought the will for my son an girlfriend at the time r4 felt fresh with motion control. I'm hoping capcom aleast tries and push motion as an optional feature. Or something new with each game.

Man after playing RE7 and RE2 Remake I desperately want them to remake RE4 through RE6 in that survival horror fashion. RE4 especially would be awesome with a survival horror aspect!!! Less enemies less supplies more darkness and atmosphere. What I have envisioned is amazing... I hate the old tank control PS1 games though. Remake them all to play exactly like RE2 Remake I would be stoked.

Higher sales numbers in the US actually isn't a good reason to give us full multi-cartridge releases like they do in Japan, but quite the opposite. They're selling the single cartridge versions here for the same price as the multi-cart version so they are making more money from each sale in the US since each one costs them less to produce.

I haven't bought most of the Capcom Switch releases due to the half-physical state. I avoid digital as much as possible, I like to own my games and let my roommates borrow them. Capcom seems to be the worst offender. Nintendo did do a similar release with Bayonetta 1 being a digital only and Bayonetta 2 on the cart.

It makes perfect sense, lesser GB cartridges are much cheaper. When capcom is worried about sales they’re going to lean towards using the smaller,cheaper cartridges. Monster hunter and street fighter will NEVER not sell. Old megaman games are definitely a little tougher sell.

Actually, interestingly, it has been announced the Asian version of FFX/X-2 will now release on only one cartridge (not two), but it is believed it will still contain both games on that one cartridge. PlayAsia emailed customers earlier today to explain this.

I think it's a matter of software, all the games that they split they originally came to the store singularly, and they didn't bother doing a software selection screen, like with resident evil revelations and the megaman collections. Street fighter anniversary was sold as a single compilation from the start, that's why they kept it whole.

I don't actually think this has anything to do with saving money. It has to do with taking away the resale value of these games. If the download codes are used, the game loses it's resale value. If someone wants to buy the game, they have to purchase it new to get all of the content. It's just their way to keep their sales numbers up

Er - seems pretty obvious to me. Bigger carts cost more, any physical release costs an order of magnitude more than a download - so the developer makes a bigger profit from buying smaller carts and providing larger downloads. Resuting in happier shareholders. Simple.

I canceled my dark souls physical copy because it was the Same price and i know i wanted to switch the game easy and when i want. Taking out the cartridges is to much of a hassle. I buy physical only if i don't know if i like the game so i can resell it.

I wouldn't suggest mentioning Nintendo as those are their cartridges, I doubt they have to worry about the same fees that third parties do.

I hate downloading games especially on my Nintendo Switch because it just doesnt have room. I really don't want to have multiple sd cards but thats probably what is going to happen :/ but on the other hand ive recently just gotten into Re because I played Revelations 1&2 and i'll basically do whatever i have to in order to play Re4, Re1, and Re0 so i'll be buying them anyways I guess.

256GB SD cards are often on sale on Amazon for $30 or less. 400GB SD cards have been on sale recently for under $80 if you need it. Stick with Sandisk brand for the best compatibility.

What if they do this on purpose in order to discourage the second-hand market? I mean, people who complete both games and want to sell it only could sell RE0, as "in theory" the code for RE1 is already occupied and cannot be transfered.

I just beat Resident Evil Revelations on my Switch last night and really enjoyed it alot. Now I'm playing the second R.E. Revelations 2 and so far it's great. People hate on the fact the second game is downloaded to the system but it's so much more convenient, expecially on the go when u want to take one cart like Mario Oddesy but want to be able to play another game too and don't want to carry any extra carts. This was my introduction to the series and after I beat RE R2 im gonna move on to RE 2 remake on PS4 and RE 4 for PS4. I'm thinking the more of this Series on the Switch the better

I'm pretty sure the reason Asia gets the physical releases is because, aside from Japan, there's no eShop, and either have to make external-region accounts, or buy physical.

I pre ordered resident evil origins collection for the switch yesterday at my local gamestop. The employee told me and others that you get all 3 games with the physical version.

Lets not forget the worst of it all!!! If you get any game with a download requirement one day the servers get turned off and oh oh look I CANT KEEP THE GAME FOREVER. Does anyone remember Siren Blood Curse? Not only did the west not get a physical copy, but it was censored. Ordered an import which thankfully had an English manual insert for the controls AND had English voice and text options in the menu. Still glad I bought it to this day.

In 15 years if I need to replace or upgrade my SD card on my switch without modding, how can I download the digital copy if they close the online store like the Wii.

Whenever we saw Capcom be accidently named as "Capcpom" due to that type in that trailer for the 3DS original version of Resident Evil Revelations, you knew that something was definitely wrong with them. Sadly, that mentality still continues with how horribly mismanaged they have become as a company, and it is an utter shame they haven't learned squat because of their petty decisions. Their decisions on the Nintendo Switch is no exception. They certainly have not done anything substantial to get them back on the rebound with their finances since they are riddled with so much debt, and they only continue to waste money on so many things they don't need to use it on when that all should be saved to help improve their financial situation. However, I digress since that company is truly a shell of its former glory after all of its top talent is now gone. Shinji Mikami, Tokura Fujiwara, Hideki Kamiya, Yoshio Okamoto, Atsushi Inaba, and many others. I don't include Keiji Inafune because of how his public image in these more recent times have severely hurt his credibility as an icon in the video game industry. There needs to be a massive restructure at that place because their head management are too cushioned in their salary-men lifestyles to even actually give a crap in trying to restore them to their former glory. Monster Hunter and Resident Evil are just two IPs. That's not enough. And let's not forget that both Street Fighter V and Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite are a mockery with what made their fighting games so iconic amongst those that are top-tier in the genre.
