I just rode this the first time the last two days, and this video hits it spot on. The first time walking up the universal employee said "don't go in single rider line, go through the queue, it's much better than the actual ride". The first time I went I was sat near the back, and that was an experience in itself, the second time I was sat at the front.... let me just say..... sitting in the front is even more hilarious with how badly they didn't even try to hide the immersion, you can see the end of the tunnel the entire time, the edges of screens, and everything else to tell you that you were not moving at all. You really can't do anything but laugh. Side note- Jimmy Fallon's ride was so much better than I ever expected....I was not excited for this at all, but it was at least fun to do.

I've been saying forever they need to just steal Test Track's technology. Have guests choose between 2 lines (Dom or Brian) who are going to race against each other. (They might have to CG Paul Walker or just use a different character entirely). The cars are brought to a starting line and are doing another routine street race until one of the many villains shows up and ruins things. From here on out, the cars would go through various intertwining sets trying to subdue the villain until eventually ending at a BBQ gift shop where you can get your photo from the ride with Family-themed frame. Would it be super expensive and potentially non-practical? Probably.

I have to respectfully disagree with this video. This ride should have been anything but the lazy phoned in attraction it is today... Imagine if it was a high speed rollercoaster type ride with screens projecting a thrilling race. That could have been a great experience for the entire family. Still I do think you bring up an excellent point that the Team Members are doing their best to salvage this attraction anyway they can. They truly deserve a gold medal for what they have to deal with.
@PoseidonEntertainment3 жыл бұрын
I've seen a lot of people suggesting a coaster or a Test Track slot-car style ride system, but I'm not really sure if that would really work. The showbuilding for this attraction is huge, but I'm still skeptical that it would be enough space to house anything other than something like the Mummy. Even then, you'd have three similar coasters all right next to each other which would be weird. I know at one point, Fast and Furious was supposed to replace Back to the Future and be a simulator attraction, which I also feel probably wouldn't have worked. If anything, I think that the KUKA technology for Forbidden Journey would have worked the best here. Ride vehicles made to look like cars, but mounted on the KUKA arms might be an interesting idea.
@imaginationstation37353 жыл бұрын
Good point. You do have three other coasters in the park. But if I may present a counter argument. In WDW, You have Big Thunder Mountain, Space Mountain and 7 dwarfs in the same park... So I'd argue Universal is in the safe zone... Plus it beats a motion sim imo. But the space might be an issue. True...
@PoseidonEntertainment3 жыл бұрын
@@imaginationstation3735 I take your point, but I meant more that it would just be the same ride system repeated. Since Mummy and Gringotts are so similar as indoor coasters and even have strikingly similar ride vehicles (despite having two different manufacturers), if you're walking around the west side of the park and doing attractions in order, you would essentially be doing the same type of ride three times. In contrast, obviously Magic Kingdom's coasters are more spaced out and offer completely different experiences. I suppose Thunder Mountain and 7DMT could be compared, but they're quite far from each other. Then again, I would personally be in support of more slow-moving omnimover attractions placed around everywhere, so I could also definitely be wrong in this regard.
@aaronsharpe28543 жыл бұрын
@@PoseidonEntertainment Studios already suffers from too many simulators and screen rides. If you enter the park and go clockwise. You got... -Minions (Theater simulator, but with soap box style cars) -Shrek 4D (Theater simulator, but with regular benches) *I know it's closing in 2022 but my point still stands + I believe a clone of the Dreamworks Theater in Hollywood, an attraction with the exact same ride system, will replace it. -Jimmy Fallon (Theater simulator, but the theater is a giant pizza disk) -Transformers (4D Dark Ride with Simulator ride vehicles) -Gringotts (Roller Coaster, but with simulator elements as well as relying heavily on screens to tell a story) -Simpsons (IMAX Theater simulator with box style cars) If Universal is stepping away from screen rides, but still desire the thrilling attractions they're known for, then either Roller Coasters or thrilling dark rides like Jurassic World Adventure or Indiana Jones Adventure are the best route to take in my opinion. I don't even think screen rides are bad, I just feel that CGI is still not realistic enough. Back To The Future was good cause even though it was a screen ride, the ride film was made up of physical miniatures, giving it a sence of realism that CGI at this moment of time still cannot.
@jeremystoeckel99032 жыл бұрын
How about whenever Rip Ride Rockit is inevitably torn down they replace it with a BETTER coaster that uses the Fast and Furious theming? Then they can use the Supercharged space for something more worthwhile. That would seem like a win-win at a park that could really use some major updates, or else it's going to look really dull in comparison to Islands and Epic.

I took my friends there for the first time and really hyped the ride by not giving it away and telling them to remember that Vin Diesel was normal sized. We had the best pre-show comedians I've seen on all the times I've been on it, then got hit with a 20min delay after getting on the ride, and ANOTHER 20min delay at the front of the boarding lane after everyone had to get off because they couldn't figure out how to rotate a defective vehicle off the track. On top of that, we got the "quick" intro (many rides have separate full and quick intros depending on weather, crowds, etc.) and none of my friends could understand what was going on. The whole time we were joking with the other riders about waiting for the party to start, and how uncomfortable the ride vehicle seats were and incondusive the setup was to an actual party bus. In the words of our pre-show girl, this ride is "something about family, I dunno".

I mean if Universal is able to maintain Jurassic Park I’m sure they could update Jaws to have the easier refurbishment that JP has. Also Jaws could’ve benefited from adding things to the area like maybe the arcade seen in the movie, more boardwalk/fair attractions like a merry go round for the kid’s. Maybe even a seafood restaurant themed after Quint’s Shack.

Want to REALLY enjoy it? Try throwing yourself into each role the ride conveys... "WERE GONNA PARTY! OH SHIT, WERE ALL GONNA DIE! AND PARTY! BUT SERIOUSLY, WE'RE ALL DEAD! AND PARTYING! You can't follow along that yo-yo without laughing your butt off!

Something about the Studio Tour edition of this ride made it really hard for me to dislike it. The bits of buildup and excellent ride experience beforehand really makes it feel like a fitting campy conclusion to the Studio Tour. The bad dialogue and laughable action scene makes it really hilarious although I hope they do something else with it.

Not filming it together isn’t an excuse for the awkwardness. A lot of the actors in Sin City were filmed separately and you really can’t tell.

I disagree. The camp wasn't intentional. And the action segments of the chase are poorer quality than the worst video games. I admit I've only ridden it a few times. BUT, I don't ever want to suffer again through the cheesy (not campy) pre-shows in order to see low-quality graphics. I have agreed with your opinions in all of your other videos, but not this time!
@PoseidonEntertainment3 жыл бұрын
Sorry, I haven't watched the video in a while so I don't recall exactly what I said, but I believe I was referencing the films when I was talking about intentional camp. If you're referencing to what I said about the spielers in the pre-shows, it seems to very much depend on the person. A lot of them are really good and completely eliminate the "cringe" when they're funny.

I'm just sad since this could've been the opportunity to create an amazing dueling rollercoaster to the theme of Fast and Furious.

I personally didn't think it was that bad, but I think it's because maybe when I was in Orlando I was in a way forcing myself to love absolutely every ride and attraction. My girlfriend at the time said as we walked out "well that was f***** s***" and I never really understood why. I'm now learning that it's generally hated by everyone probably over the age of 12. Seeing it back in your videos I can now see it was just a huge cop out by creating yet another screen based ride. A F&F themed ride that would be a combination of Test Track and Spider Man/Transformers would have been so much better. Imagine the street racing, drifting, over the top high speed chases. Why did they not think of that?? I'm sure it would have been hugely expensive, but a good investment at least.

Went on the studio tour yesterday and wondered why everyone hated this so much. I mean it wasn't good, especially the beginning, but as an end to the studio tour they could have done worse. Then I learned it was a stand alone ride in Florida. Oh god, what were they thinking.

By typical standards the ride was terrible. But the fact that the team members knew how bad it was they were joking the whole time, that made it funny. They really leaned into the awkwardness and I loved it.

Hilariously bad is the best thing that can be said about this. I don't really care about the movies either, so no surprise there. Earthquake was pretty great. Would've been better to just update that. I am also sick of screen-based rides, so that definitely doesn't help.

I’ve only been to Universal studios Hollywood and while fast and furious is arguably the…. worst part of the studio tour it’s also the last. everytime the fast and furious segment ends i’m laughing because of how ridiculous it is- and that’s what makes it fun cause it’s just so crazy. I always leave the studio tour with a smile on my face. Plus, my mom who i visit the park with everytime has said that fast and the furious is her favorite ride in the ENTIRE park- i think when you put aside that the screen attractions are kind of lazy, and just enjoy fast and furious for how ridiculous it is, it’s so much more fun. ride or die!

I mean, fair. However, Hagrid's only opened the year after Fast so I think at that point they knew they had to change a few years prior. It seems to me that someone at Comcast was likely making decisions for a few years and attractions like Fast only happened because the R&D had already been invested.

I think people would have complained because another iteration of that same ride system would have been tedious, but I can imagine a much better attraction using that technology.

I had family come into town and they were visiting the parks a few weeks ago and I was their guide for Universal and Islands of Adventure as when I was growing up, I used to have an annual pass, but hadn't been there myself in almost 10 years. I knew Earthquake had been replaced, so I was excited to see what new stupid thing was put in because I've never seen anything Fast and the Furious, I don't even think my visiting family had either, and immediately, it was just a wreck. Poor layout moving guests from one room to the next, we got split up so many times. The exposition dumps were just confusing and for whatever reason Tej looks like a videogame character and not an actual actor, the lighting on him is terrible. However, the actual employees were hilarious. Small little interjections, predicting what the next line was, or intentionally getting it wrong, it was pretty funny. Then the ride began, and it was that awful screen tech that really only works from a distance. Why have this empty room with screens? I don't get it. Then the car chase happened, and we had about the best minute of our lives. I had no idea what to look at, we were bombarded with wind and water, but it was fun. And then it just abruptly ended. It could have gone on longer and that was our main complaint. We spent more time setting everything up, and then when the ride finally commences, it's over just about as soon as it started. Earthquake was definitely a better experience overall; it was about how movies get made and their various techniques, what's not to like when the theme park is titled Universal Studios? But had the car chase gone on about double the length it actually did and had a proper conclusion, it wouldn't be all that terrible and I wouldn't mind it as a replacement. It's still bad, but I didn't hate the experience, it just needed a bit more to make it more worth while. This is when I was glad we had fast passes from their hotel. Despite the wait time not being long regardless, if we had to wait 30 minutes just to get to the preshows and then a screen, I'd be upset, so I definitely get the negative reception most people would have.

My biggest gripe with this HORRENDOUS ride, is that is is a HUGE missed opportunity. It could've easily been a HIGH SPEED coaster, giving us an actual, awesome coaster, inside UO. Mummy is one of my favorite rides ever, so don't get me twisted. But it's an indoor coaster, and it's more family friendly than say.... Velocicoaster. If they made FnF an intense coaster, it would make sense with the "theme" of fast, and also furious. And I think UO really REALLY needs a high intensity thriller. Mummy is great, but not necessarily high intensity. RRR, although I disagree with you, and think is a fun coaster... It's also not high intensity. There isn't a single inversion in all of universal. Which is in itself, an injustice. They could definitely fit a great coaster on that spot, while keeping a lot of the themeing of the cue(maybe rearranging it, and downsizing, and getting rid of the stupid TV talks) They have had a lot of fantastic luck with Intamin. Just order a coaster, pop it in, and call it a day lol It would make a huge huge difference, not only in the park as a whole, but with the way we now view FnF in the park. It needs a redemption lol I'm not a FnF fan by any means, but I get the desire to have a ride in this park. It's one of their biggest franchises. This ride was just such a huge swing and a miss. But I genuinely think it's not too late to fix it. Close down the atrocity, and swap out the bus ride for a coaster. Boom. Fixed.
