Google Fi is running a special for $60 Fi credit with link below! August 2024
As a weekend cruiser, I travel a lot internationally just about every weekend and need a strong cell phone provider. After some astronomically high bills, I switched to Google Fi Wireless's Unlimited Plan because of their strong international calling and data plans. It is truly the best international cell phone plan.
After 2 years and 34 countries later, I'll share my review of Google Fi. It has has drastically enhanced my international traveling experiences! Though, there are people who should not use Google Fi...

Great video Brandon! I couldn't agree more that Fi is the best international option. Nothing better than waking up in Nassau and automatically having service! I got H+ in Spain a couple of times. Was pretty exciting.

It is very true! Even randomly sailing around, I will wake up and have messages from where it connected in middle of night! Love my Fi!

It does! When i first got the service Bahamas was BAD. It was very slow and wouldn't always connect without playing with the setting. VERY glad they fixed that and it just connects now.

Agree on everything except the customer service.. Everytime I've called Fi with an issue, the service I received was stellar! Ymmv, but my experience couldn't be more different.

Out of curiosity, any chance you’ve used Google fi in China? If so, was the VPN required to be turned on before you go, or you can turn it on after arrival? I see that China is listed in their locales you can have service and data…I currently have Tmo and I did the 7 day Google fi trial, I had zero issues with it and I actually liked the app…very easy to read, simply laid out, etc. Thanks for a great video!

@@flatt585 hey hey, saw your comment. So I was there and can confirm that the phone service worked perfectly fine. I left the built in Google VPN on just because it’s an extra layer of security while being in China. Used it in a couple of other countries along the way and it pretty cool, when you go into the Google Fi app on your phone, it’ll actually automatically update a message box at the top of the app screen and tell you what country you’re in and also tell you what features you have that are covered. No guessing or trying to figure out what you can do with your data. Biggest thing I want to point out to you is that you need to go into your cellular settings in the phone and turn ON data roaming. You don’t get charged anything extra, it just actually allows your phone to locate and use data outside of the US. I couldn’t get data to work at first when I was in the first country outside of the US, after a few minutes of problem solving I turned the data roaming on and it was perfectly fine after.

Maybe it's better than T-Mobil but AT&T charges only $10 / month all-in for international travel. It activates automatically when you land and deactivates when you return to the US. So if you're gone for less than a month it's $10 total. It includes data & everything just like your existing plan. So whatever you pay on your existing plan, you still pay that as if you're in the US. You're just paying $10 extra for each month that you're outside the US. Easy peezy!

I have a $60 off Google Fi referral code: NJA93U -If you sign up through my referral code you’ll get $60 off your bill after being active on Fi for 30 days. -I’ll get $60 off my bill too. - everyone wins:) I’ve been using my google fi sim while traveling abroad for extended periods of time, and it’s been great - unlimited data and text while in roaming, and calls at 20 cents/minute. I used to buy a local sim card when traveling, but I had no need to this time after switching to fi.

Their customer service is beyond atrocious. I have only used Fi for one week and in that week they lost my 18 year old phone number (It ported itself out of my account somehow!?), this caused my account to close, which terminated my introductory billing credits (Which no one is willing to fix, or says they can't fix) so I don't get billing credits for my new phone purchase anymore. And ontop of all of this, I have had to fix all of my 2FA to a new number. I have spoken to three separate supervisors and not one of them has even so much as appologised. TERRIBLE PROVIDER. Good if it works I guess, but man if you have a problem, it SUCKS.

My gawd you all have expensive cell/internet service..........I pay 8 euro a month for unlimited data and here in the EU we have free roaming (perfect for cruises LOL) Cool that what you're talking about you can use in all those countries. We can usually do a "x-country plan" to add on for a few euro. You're talking stuff I don't understand at all LOL I don't want to talk to people not on the ship anyway ;-) OOOOHHHH okay well at minute 10 I should've just deleted this message but thought I'd leave it up anyway 😀

I pay like $300 for my T-mobile unlimited unlimted with world connect plan. So it works everywhere except Nepal. Nepal is a problem. T-mobile does not work in Nepal. But no cruise ships go to Nepal, so there's that.
