Anger, irritation, frustration or annoyance can be seen as 'bad' or 'harmful' emotions.
Yoram Mosenzon says that we can love our anger for what it's trying to communicate to us-and cautions us about the thinking that accompanies anger that we need to be more aware of, if we were to harness the power of our anger.

Thanks Yoram, it's so moving when stardard thinking is to label anger as something negative and out of control...instead you push us to see from another perspective...it is a sweet-vulnerable feeling covered by a tragic, intense package. I love that

Thank You 💓 and not what I think....or say necessarily matters, as you don't know me - however - Thank You for evoking tender feelings and understanding around how anger may be perceived as a beautiful, bountiful gift in relationships for conserving life and the love of life. Thank You for evoking the beauty in what it means to love, protect and serve one another. Thank you for standing to honor All emotions and setting forth that of beauty in living it.

I find nvc's take on anger to be incomplete. I'm still looking for the words to express what is missing.

I agree that anger is a protective energy and it wants to protect life. I'm just not sure it's accurate to say that there is no such thing as a wrongdoing, or if we believe someone is wrong we are acting like we are God. Sometimes someone did do something wrong. For eg, the abuse of a child. Narcissistic abuse especially from parents. There is rage and even hate in the child which he or she is forced to repress or turn on themselves, and it shows up as anxiety or depression later in life. As the now-adult is helped to explore their feelings, a tremendous amount of unexpressed rage is encountered at some point in the journey. So I guess I'm wondering how it's possible to heal unless it is also acknowledged that something wrong was done to the vulnerable child.

Thank you for this comment. Is it that you'd really like for there to be an understanding of how much harm has been experienced as a result of someone's actions? And that this is such an essential part of the healing process, and supporting the child to make sense of their experience?

What if their insensitivity hurts you? Does it not help to tell them so that they don't hurt others?

(From the NVC Academy team) - Our understanding is that we can connect with our needs and then choose to express to the other how their actions have impacted us. What's important is that this expression comes from our needs, rather than our angry thinking. How does this land with you?
