Every character in MvC history and then some (Capcom characters from Tatsunoko and newcomers), almost every stage in the library (BTW a mixture of XvSF and MSHvSF stages given the recolors and such, some stages from Children of the Atom and MSH and maybe a stage or two from Street Fighter and Darkstalkers), 3v3 gameplay with a 5 meter gauge, mixture of modes from years past, story mode written by better people and if Norimaro returns, MAYBE bring Stan the Man as a fighter (despite his passing but voice clips are a thing??)

Outside of bad graphics, bad story and forgettable music it actually did everything right. A proper roll back netcode, simple but functioning lobby, rematch button and dev support (til it got stopped of course) . It's just proof that the phrase "Graphics doesn't matter" is bullshit, it also didn't help that the game had horrible PR which where the roster issue got overblown.

Anyone smart enough know that the thing people love about the Versus series are the famous characters from the comic books/animated series from their childhood mostly. Well, that assumes that everybody views the game-play as good, which is quite decidedly not the case. People were not solely complaining about the art-style, though it was a huge one. In pre-release and near-release reviews, I had seen a decent number of prominent fans of the series, and fighting games in general, have many concerns and criticisms about the game-play. With many of the complaints about the music and story that I DID hear, the people offering said complaints would often admit that it had little to do with their over-all view of the game - since that is pretty low in priorities for why a lot of people who delve deep into any particular fighting game, or the genre as whole, do so. Now, this is all just anecdotal, and I don't care to go around compiling the examinations and opinions people would offer around the time of the launch of the game, so it isn't of that much weight. The art-style complaint, however, was a common and important one, from what I did see. While I do agree with the negative perception of the presentation as a whole, I would consider the unattractive nature of the models and textures to be rather innocuous, as it is nearly impossible to notice during actual match game-play. My bigger issue with the visuals is the effects and camera. The effects look fine on their own, to me at least, but the size and amount of them that get plastered over the screen makes it a bit of a cluttered mess. The camera snapping around so quickly from all the tags and assists, and the zooming and angling of the camera for Super flashes, does the same. Tie those to the frantic mobility of the Marvel series, and things can become quite disorienting, which CAN impact game-play. Marvel Three had similar issues, but how the assist system is actually a tag system in Infinite exacerbates the impact of the issues. And, speaking of how the new assist-tag system is handled, that is actually a pretty important reason as to why a decent number of people did not enjoy this entry. This is not to uncommon in fighting games in general - new installments in a major name mixing up their formula, and players not being receptive to the changes, or out-right rejecting them. There was also the addition of the Groove Select style Stones, which could have also been another similar catalyst. I had forgotten about the roster size being another component of the negative reception of the game, but that could also be considered a game-play complaint as well, depending on the specifics. If the "functions" a person enjoyed from the previous game are absent in this one, then there might be no character that said person finds engaging to play anymore - possibly solely on a mechanical basis. That would be another example of dislike stemming from game-play reasons. All in all, this is just to say that many people who disliked this game did so because of a dislike of the game-play, at least in part.

Hiryu going for the super, then Ultron comes in and super blasts Hiryu out the super, Monster Hunter ducks Ultron's lasers stands up and just sniped him out the air with arrows and go in for the finish. Beautiful. Really a shame Capcom didn't revisit this game after the Fox merger. They had a really good blueprint, just needed some aesthetic changes and legacy characters thrown in

Some of those characters did look pretty bad especially on the Capcom side and if they just use models from previous games thst would've been fine if nothing else. Me personally, I didn't mind how it looked by itself, but when compared to MvC 3, which I actually bought BECAUSE of its art style, it was a hell of a visual downgrade. For Infinite's visuals to be as big as a deterrent for fans as it was still boggles me though

I was a huge fan of the comic-esque heavy dark lines and effects, so abandoning that in favor of what they went with was off putting for me. I didn't actually play Infinite myself though. I determined how garbage I was at fighters after 3 and told myself never again 😆 I really enjoy the spectacle of it all and still like watching Infinite when Max plays it. I just wish the negative connotation associated with this didn't exist. Nobody should have to feel bad for enjoying a game that is truly good at its core. Capcom should've believed in their product and went forward with it instead of giving up. I'm still hoping, since legacy characters were part of the deal breaker, they revisit and rerelease the game with the Fox licensed characters and a few balance changes

Two years have passed, and still nothing. I personally want them to just release an MvC 5 with things like this: 1. Get some help from professional fighting game developers, such as Arc System Works, SNK, or even NetherRealm Studios (Ed Boon said he had a conversation with Marvel about making a fighting game and is excited about it.) 2. Go Smash Ultimate style with the next game (include every single character in the series and every single stage, with maybe some newcomers. On my wishlist is Nero, Leon Kennedy, and the X-Men.) 3. Give the player a choice between comic/cel-shaded or Infinite’s art style. It would make the game WAYYY heavier and graphics-intensive, but I have faith because of the release of the PlayStation 5 in 2020, with an Xbox Two basically guaranteed since Microsoft needs to rival Sony in any way possible. 4. Add more content. Self-explanatory. Capcom NEEDS to learn from it’s mistakes, for it’s own good. 5. Add a second chapter to the story. Infinite had an after-credits that left me suspenseful. 6. Optional, but would be awesome: custom character creation Mortal Kombat: Armageddon style. If it’s going to be considered unbalanced, make it either check your moveset to see if it’s fit for online, or make it offline only. If custom character creation isn’t an option at all, add custom variations like in Mortal Kombat 11’s Gear and Kosmetics system. (Sorry, I love Mortal Kombat because of the customization it offers, lol! 😂) I know it SOUNDS like a lot of content that would take up big-time space in a hard drive and a monster-graphics machine, but hopefully PlayStation 5 and a potential Xbox Two could save the day. And I mean come on, Red Dead Redemption II is over 100 GB big! If a company can do it, any other company can.

The one thing that bothers me the most about Infinite is actually the stages. The stages look so generic and boring, that i can only count 2 stages that actually look sick and are unique, Valkanda and the Symbiote Hell. Seriously, i mean, compare MvC3‘s Asgard stage to both the bridge of Xgard and the throne room. Both Bridge and Throne room have nothing special on them.

M. Mirza Know Moon is my personal fave. And the MVC3 stages are non existent since everyone only plays on Bonne Wonderland and Training stage. Asgard there looks great and So do Daily Bugle and Shield Helicarrier but everything else is pretty meh and most of the other stages are at night. Wish they brought back the mvc2 stages. Easily best in the series when in cane to stage variety.

With all this netcode talk recently, I had to watch Max play this game after saying it has great netcode (yes I watched his review of this game's online). Not ONCE did he complain about the netcode but you watch his MvC3 videos and that game's netcode is a constant mention throughout the videos. Hey man, I'm the creator of a game called Marvel vs Capcom Maximum, it is 4 v 4, its six button, it has tag canceling like mvci together with mvc2 styled assists except they aren't "assist ok" every 1 sec it's more like every 5 secs. I actually enjoy this game. It's better than I thought. I love the heroic triumphant music. I wish they made more DLC for real. Even though it doesn't feel 100% like an MvC game, it is still a great game with good elements. I hope the next one comes out soon or maybe an expansion of the story with X-Men characters. Maybe another perspective of another villian with the DLC characters taking charge. And of course more DLC characters. It has been said that originally it was supposed to have double the characters. I'm going to be honest I think what killed this game the most was the uninspired and clearly shoehorned in story mode that was clearly just there because of other fighting games had one to great success mainly NRS games. It was essentially the tacked on multiplayer shooter did last generation.

To be fair the story mode didn't help the game AT ALL and turned people off even more but it was only a piece of the games demise. Personally I believe what killed MVCI the most was the general caftsmanship of it (Art, Soundtrack, Roster selection) which most people point first and turns people off the most, and the bad PR really just meant a lost of respect of capcom (even though DISNEY/MARVEL have the say in Marvel characters). I didn't kill the game immediately, but in the long run it became the main factor in the hate starting even before release. The EVO thing was just the doctor calling it.

Have waited years for Capcom to add Gene from the legendary ps2 game God Hand to MvC. Dude would be a natural and amazing fit to the roster. Who doesn't want to watch Gene and Deadpool interact with each other? Gene would legit be the best bromace for DP.
