I'm glad I discovered this video. I recently beat (and played) Ocarina of Time for the first time. I'm 26 now. That game lit a fire in me, and now I'm on a mission to beat them all. Zelda is so refreshing to play, and I'm excited to take this journey.

Twilight Princess for the Wii was the first Zelda I played when I was in 1st grade. My dad bought a used copy at gamestop, and he had played TLoZ, ALttP and OoT so he wanted me to try out a Zelda game. I instantly fell in love and we downloaded ALttP on our Wii later, so that was the second Zelda I played. I think my third might have been OoT, the my fourth was SS I think.

IVSAKENSOUL do yourself a favour and don't play Breath of the Wild until you have played the other Zelda games. That game is so amazing that it blows away all the others. Source: I tried playing Windwaker and Twilight Princess yesterday, after 700+ hours on BotW.. it did not go well lol. all 3 are amazing games that I enjoyed through my childhood, bit BotW just blows them away. especially because of graphics

My dad got a PlayStation when I was little, but until now I haven't been able to afford another console. I have always love legend of Zelda, and I used to always go to the library and take out the Zelda graphic novels. I poured so many hours into those books but I really wanted to play a Zelda game. Finally I saved up enough money for a switch and I got breath of the wild. I feel like I can just escape and be in the Hyrule i've always known and dreamed of.

This one hit me hard. Zelda was my escape to a brand new world during some bad times. Every new game that came out put you in a different experience than the last. This video made me realize that was the reason the series really stuck with me. I could have become attached to the idea of playing nothing but Ocarina of Time, but after I was through with it there was an entirely new experience with much different tools waiting as Majoras Mask. I wish I could have afforded more growing up but I'm glad the series name stuck with me. Not only my favorite game franchise, but also my favorite hobby is to just play Zelda. I don't think you overspent on your collection. Looking back at what defines me through the course of my so-far short life, Zelda is the thing that sticks out the most. I dream of a collection like that bro.

Stumbled upon your Channel watching vids on Nintendo Switch reviews. Kept seeing that really big Skyward sword display and figured you're a HUGE Zelda fan like me. I'm going through Chemo and Radiation and video games are my escape...Skyward Sword being the game I'm going to start playing for the 2nd time. Your love for this franchise reminded me why I love it so much!! Thank You! Also Ocarina of Time is the best Zelda game and prob my Favorite game of all time.

When I was in my early-mid twenties, I was diagnosed with a very severe form of arthritis. When I wasn't at university, or working in a bar, I was at my flat, and too tired and in too much pain to go out and do the things you're supposed to do when you're a student. So I picked up a cheap N64, along with a few different games. One of them was Ocarina of Time. I already had Link to the Past on my Snes, but hadn't played it much. But Ocarina blew me away - it was just so damn good. Compelling story, great gameplay and difficulty curve. Everything was beautifully thought out. It took me out of that world of dealing with the day-to-day agony of my condition, and from that point on, I was a Zelda fanatic, and have picked up pretty much all the games available on different systems. Good times.

My story is very similar to yours in the fact that I went from NES to 64 with a minor PS1 era in between. I got my 64 when I was 13 on Christmas day 1999. And of course the one game I got with it was Ocarina of Time. I'm not exaggerating when I say I didn't play another game for atleast a year and thus began my deep rooted love for the series. I had played and loved Link to the Past but Ocarina is the game I credit for shaping my passion for the series and gaming overall. Great stuff here man, keep up the great work!

Ocarina of Time was the first video game I ever played. My older brother had it when we were kids and we played through the whole thing together (he would do all the fighting because I was too nervous). It took us months to complete, and I cried so much when it was over. I cherish that memory very dearly. To this day it is my all-time favourite video game and I still think of it as the greatest game ever made. It's what fuelled my love for gaming, and Zelda has followed me throughout my life ever since. My older brother fell out of touch with gaming shortly after that, and it's been that way for almost 20 years now. But that's all changed with Breath of the Wild. When I finally managed to play it last year as a reward for graduating university it quickly became my second favourite game ever (after Ocarina of Time). I showed it to my brother and he was so blown away by it that he immediately bought a switch to play it himself. Now we're both sharing our experiences of playing Zelda - just like when we were kids... Thank you, Nintendo.

I grew up with an NES as well and that's what started me off. When I got older I was introduced to table top RPGs and fell in love with D and D. Another way to escape and play a character who represented who you really wanted to be. The hero you wanted to be but couldn't be. Such great stuff and brings back memories. I feel the same, Wood. My Grandmother, who died before I had many memories of her, but I knew she loved Zelda. So after she died, everytime I would spend the night at my grandfathers, I would play her GameCube with her copy of Twilight Princess. My family fights a lot, and everytime I would be put in the middle of one of these fights, it would always end up with me playing Zelda. Zelda has always been my comfort spot. Honestly, a big reason I started watching your channel was because of the Zelda stuff, and it made me so happy to see someone else who loved the series as much as I do. Thank you for this episode.

I'm 13 and have only ever read the mangas and watched gameplays of oot, mm, tp, alttp, and ww. Now, after a year of waiting, I'm getting botw for Christmas and a switch! It's going to be my first Zelda game! I got a chance to explore the great plateau for a few hours because there was a switch on the teen club, at a cruise we went on not too long ago. It's beautiful! Even though I didn't get to the fourth shrine by the end of it. But when I get my own and spend over a hundred hours on it, it's going to be my first actual Zelda adventure, and my first peep into Hyrule. Oh and it's going to brought by my own money, so I'll have that attachment to it.

I think the reason your my favourite youtuber is videos like this. I have suffered from depression since i was 11 and now though I am 30 i would like to say it didn't impact me but it does. And its so hard having a wife and a kid and feeling that way still because at this stage in my life I know i don't really have a reason to feel that way. My childhood also wasn't great shall we say. So seeing you able to make the life you want. Knowing I have done the same it's just fills my heart with hope for every kid out there in a similar place. I also used Zelda to escape and ocarina of time. That moment I pulled the master sword and realised that i hadn't even scratched the surface of this game. I will never forget. Keep up the good work. I appreciate your honesty.

Majora's Mask for me is like your Ocarina of Time. I played the remastered version on my 3DS when I was 11 and though I had played Wind Waker HD before this, it was the first Zelda game I finished. And it was the game that started my love for Zelda and video gaming in general. Breath of the Wild is coming close, but I'm not sure if it beats Majora's Mask yet. I’ve been watching your videos for about a month or 2 now. And I noticed this was posted 2 years ago and it’s 2019 right now. But towards the end of the video you mentioned that video games were your escape. And it was like having a friend.. I was in the same situation.. my father wasn’t the best.. I was bullied all through school. Since I had first started school up to my graduation day. And Zelda, Pokémon, Mario and all these other games were my escape as well. I’d lock myself in my room, or wait for my parents to go to bed so I could play my Wii or my Wii U. I mean In the year 2016 I was 16 and still not allowed to go to town and hang with anyone. So my Wii, Wii U, gameboy, and ds. They were my friends.. I suffered from depression as well. You made me cry honestly. Lol I’m 19 years old and hearing what you said made me cry. I am genuinely so grateful that I found your channel. Thank you

Wow- I relate to your story so much. Was homeschooled and did not have many childhood friends. My family was always moving around and I could never keep any childhood friends (the few I did end up making) . I loved Zelda and reading. I actually got to a point where the characters in books were so real to me I couldn’t emotionally separate them from fiction and reality and was attached. When I did get a job I worked a lot and got the consoles and games but I usually let my sisters play too and never got around to finishing some of them- finishing up majoras mask and now that skyward sword is out again I’m playing it too. Thanks for sharing man, love you and Kimberly your channel is great 😊

I’m ‘obsessed’ with Zelda as well. Once I finish one game I start the next. Even when I’m still playing it I think of the next one I want to play. I’m from Australia as well and I have depression among other mental health problems. And Zelda has helped me with that. It was my escape. I would come home from being bullied at school and play Twilight Princess. I just finished Link’s Awakening and loved it. My childhood was good but I saw things I shouldn’t of seen. When my parents fought I’d play Ocarina of Time. It’s not just a game for people. It’s an escape, a blanket, a hobbie or even a money maker for KZbinrs. All the best in your journey through life

This was an amazing video. I’ve always been fascinated by the Zelda franchise, but growing up in Pakistan, we only had the PlayStation available ( with the pirates CDs lol). BOTW is the first Zelda game that I played,. I bought it in 2017 and still haven’t completed it, but it’s my favourite game of all time. It’s relaxing, and hyrule just feels like an escape from life every now and then.. I really love my life, but diving into hyrule every now and then feels relaxing.

Zelda means so much to me, I became a fan through Ocarina of time on the 3ds after getting it for christmas when I was ten, it the first game console and first game I had all to myself, a game I could definitively call my own and I played it and instantly fell in love, helped me through many a car trips, parental arguing, and rough patches

I really enjoyed your story and I can relate to so much of what you went through! I had a really isolated childhood and gaming was always a way for me to escape the loneliness and unhappiness I had growing up. Even though I didn’t realize it at the time, these magical stories helped me make my way through some really confusing and sad times. It’s really sad how people overlook this median of coping simply because they don’t relate to situations that kids like us went through.

I totally relate! I love Zelda games since I played Ocarina of Time, in my opinion, it’s the best franchise ever and just thinking about all the stories that it’s shown us it gives me chill and it also taught me not to judge a game just for the graphics, but the story ;3. Keep on this amazing work dude!

I'm really happy you had your Nintendo 64 when you were a kid. My fiancee wasn't ever able to come out of her room either. She understood what you said really well. We both have loved Zelda our whole lives. Im old enough for the oldest Zelda games but, A Link to the Past was my first experience. It felt immense!

I love this video so much I first got into Zelda when twilight princess and the wii was being shown and it was twilight princess that made me wanna get a wii (not knowing it was on GameCube) so to educate myself on the series I went out and bought windwaker which blew my mind being able to sail an ocean was amazing but after trading and re-buying windwaker I came across the ww/oot bundle and it was ocarina of time that solidified my love for the series and twilight princess was simply amazing so ever since I've been madly in love with this series loving every instalment with oot and ss being some of my favourite games and now breath of the wild

Zelda (ocarina of time) takes me back to my childhood, the bond i have with my brother. Hes five years older than me so i was always just sitting next to him watching him play. He would let me play when he wasn’t playing, and at the time i think i liked it just cuz i wanted to do everything he did. But as i got older i grew more obsessed with it! It truly is a wonderful fantasy world to get lost in from time to time ❤️

Born in 89 just one year before you and on my 5th birthday In 1994 my cousin gave me his NES with Mario, duck hunt, excite bike , Mario 2 (the weird one lol) , ninja turtles 3 , and of course…….Zelda . I loved all the other games but something happened the first time I loaded that Zelda cartridge in and the theme hit…… every time I hear that theme in any form it takes me back to that little 5 year old boy . It’s difficult to describe to people what this franchise means to gamers that are our age…….it’s everything to me . Nothing has ever stimulated my imagination the way this series had . Cheers brutha

Those last two minutes made me cry... I don't know if you'll see this as it's an old video, but in the last few minutes of this video where you talked about your childhood I never encountered someone with an upbringing so similar to my own. It was as if I was listening to myself talk and I was instantly transported back to playing Ocarina on a big CRT of my own. Zelda is my favorite game for the exact reasons you have- it stimulated my imagination and allowed me to feel like a hero when I couldn't do anything but go to school and practice piano (which are great things, but everyone needs a break!), when I was very much powerless against the bullies and the various negative forces that were at play, I could pretend to be a Hylian kid my own age who could grab a sword and shield and save the world however many times he wanted.

My mom actually got me into The Legend of Zelda on the Wii virtual console. she bought it to show me because she played it with her best friend in high school. she still had the original map from the NES version with all of her notes on it for the fairies and weapons and now I have it framed on my wall along with the breath of the Wild map. I can not thank her enough for showing me this amazing game series.

My four year old has a blast running around Hyrule in BOTW! He is even fighting a monster here and there. I love that this game and other Zelda games are things that my son, husband and I can all enjoy together. It's a blast to sit and play together and encourage or laugh at each other. I grew up playing my brother's Ocarina of Time on 64 and eventually got my own when I was in my 20's but on the 3DS. That's the only game I needed or wanted for the 3DS ^^

I relate to this all so much. I was much younger when I found Ocarina (about 4-5, thanks to my Grandma, who LOVES Zelda), but I will never forget that feeling of playing it for the first time. Hyrule felt massive, and sometimes I would just spend hours riding Epona around to see what I could find (if only 4-year-old me could see BOTW).

Keep up the positive work and I will be here enjoying your vids.

I got goosebumps watching this. The huge Zelda fan at home is my mom, she’s basically played every game before BOTW. I feel like she passed the torch to me when BOTW came out, she had no interest in it because she enjoys the older style, but it hooked me so quickly. We bought the Switch at Toys R Us. I’d been saving up for a few years and there was something I wanted enough to blow my savings on. I’d been in college for a year or two at the time, and I got the blue Link case for it and we picked up BOTW, FE Warriors (another franchise I got into fairly late because I was scared of permadeath, thanks Nintendo birthday discount for Conquest), and Xenoblade Chronicles 2. They were all my first experiences in those franchises, and I still can’t believe those franchises have become my comfort games up to this day. I was more of an Animal Crossing/Rune Factory/Pokémon/and Final Fantasy to an extent casual player. But man, no game changed my life quite like Zelda did. It makes me so happy to see how much joy these games bring to us as a community.
