One thing that always makes me revert back to ground zero is when my motivation/spark is over, and I believe it's because I would forget "why" I'm doing what I'm doing in the first place. Routines do get boring, even though I would tell myself "I could eat this for the rest of my life" and a month later I'm turned off by it. And the "why" aspect of it isn't that I'm trying to form habits, but I'm trying to form an identity, and I'm realizing how hard it is to go against the tide day after day-night after night, of doing things I don't want to, repeatedly, daily, whether I want to or not. It's a job. You can't just call off sick because if you do, and you'll get a day off or two, you can't get more days off for a while, and us being f**ked up creatures of "habit", we'd rather get another day off than grind through the pain. It's extremely difficult for those starting this as an old dog, even middle age, even in 30s. Personally, I would even tell myself that I don't care about anything, I don't need to succeed, I don't need money, I can live in a car in the woods for the rest of my life. What's the point in all of this? That's my problem.

You have to really want the objective internally ... Not just because the society at large wants you to do it. It has to be filling an emotional void in you. Meaning if the emotion is not there, you have to create it first ... For example: ... Simply trying to compete with someone else and believing you are better than them can be a big motivator ... Now when I splurge, I either imply that I had to borrow big time or I don't tell anyone. So when I went to Europe on a family holiday, no one knew that we flew business class instead of economy. If you can't share your financial situation with your wife then what is the point of being married? I want my wife to know everything about my finances because if I get hit by a car and she suddenly has all of my assets, she will be prepared and won't feel shocked when she sees what was in my bank account. Seems kinda messed up to hide that type of info from the person who you are supposed to trust the most. @@mikemansour4634 very good point. I do not claim to understand life in all its aspects, I just think that these things may improve our lives and maybe also the lives of the people around us. Maybe the fact that it never ends is a good thing, because once it ends and someone cannot find meaning anymore anywhere, than they start getting depressed. Indeed, some people or things around us do not change. I think the way we change and become wiser will just allow us to accept easier the things which do not change.

Fellow german here. Well, I think it's about what business you wanna build and what success means to you. If you wanna reach financial success, than this means you gotta spend 4 hours a day to look for oppurtunities, gather a skillset and execute your ideas. So if you want to make a financial successfull business, you gotta do some research on the existing market, e.g. looking for local business prices, gathering Information about comparable top-businesses, use trial and error and adapt, et cetera. Its just about taking a specific amount of time every day, really dedicating focus on what makes you successfull. I might have gotten it wrong, tho.

Love the ending discussion. To me, the meaning of life is different from person to person. We all have our own definitions of words and what they mean to us. My favorite comical way to explain that is I for example don't like chocolate. So the word "delicious" may mean something different to me than it does to you. I think this stance should also be taken with someone's meaning of life. When I was younger in school I came up with a 1 sentence MOL (meaning of life) and a 1 word why. My MOL is "to be as happy as I can and spread that to as many people as I possibly can." And my why is "illuminate" because when you shed some light on someone else's path you also do on your own. Which I find is exactly what you're doing here with these videos like this!

I think you might have mixed up happiness with pleasure. Doing drugs gives you sensual pleasure. After doing them, you probably get left with an empty feeling that isn’t happiness. I agree that most people search for fulfillment and chase their inspirations. That leads to happiness.

There is a saying: life isn't about being happy, but about doing something meaningful. You can do meaningful things even when you are sad. Sadness is the absence of happiness and without sadness there would be no happiness. Emotions like happy and sad are only on the surface and while a deep dopamine spike can feel meaningful, doing something meaningful has to do much more with the core of you. Tiny successes every day (a tiny bit of happiness) and not needing that much dopamine in order to stay motivated (so there will be also less sadness when it is over) is helpful to doing something meaningful (fitting to your abilities and needs regularly).
