Hey Bryan, I can't agree more with your introspection. Seems like we're in the same headspace as I'm in that transition now as I move on from selling residential real estate. I think the biggest lesson I got was to take inventory of your personality and to chase your curiosity, albeit still having the means to take care of yourself financially. We're both in our early 20's and I think having these working experiences with time to reflect will afford us good direction in the future. Keep making content! I get some inspiration for my channel from your stuff.

Totally agree with you. I joined banking (not IB, but another front line unit) half a year ago, and people are so overworked and processes are so inefficient. I definately do agree finance is not the field for everyone right now. I even would say that most young people right now would not necessarily like banking just because of the bureaucracy. I feel fintech companies is a area where innovation is at the core of the culture so if you like innovation and finance might be something to look into. I believe learning how to code effectively is a good starting salary as well for a undergraduate with more value in the long run for a person starting salaries can easily be on the 80k plus side depending on where you work. Hours are a lot shorter than IB as well in general except when critical deadlines are around the corner.

Nothing annoys me more than organizations that don't question their old outdated processes. I remember this one time I was producing a report for over a year that literally no one looked at but for some reason my manager had me doing on a weekly basis. I got so annoyed with it one day I went around the office and asked every person if they ever looked at or needed this report at any point of the year. No one knew what the hell the report was and my manager's head was still stuck 10 years in the past and never thought to question anything. I told him no one needs this and I'm not doing it anymore and he accepted it.

What I like about Bryan is that, while he personally chose to leave investment banking, he doesn't speak negatively about his firm, colleagues, or the career . He also strays away from the toxic nature that many other KZbinrs have, which only adds to the genuine nature of the channel. When I found Bryan's channel, I was still interested in pursuing Investment banking. I eventually changed my mind but I still enjoy watching every new video. I think everyone can agree that your personality and authenticity have contributed the most to your success on KZbin. It's rare to find these types of people anymore, but I know all 11.4k of us are glad we found you.

I don't need to look at your video to understand why you choose to leave. You leave bc you know that you won't make much money by working 8-10 everyday and get paid 150k a year. You are selling your time for a cheap price, and there isn't much growth once you get the resume stamped and basic skills trained. Banking isn't as techinical as tech industry where you can actually digging deeper and deeper for more self growth and value increasing. You start your own business for career guidance session or something, you realize that it's rich dad's vision that you need to have ur own business for financial freedom. Yes, I don't need to talk to you to understand what you are thinking in your mind. The real question is, there are tons of smart people out there, some might be even smarter than you and me. What makes you think just starting your own business will make you successful? You need to be better than just being 'smart'. What you are thinking right now has been thought by tons of people, yet the ones who succeeded are still small number. You need to have real edge that makes you successful. You need to dig deeper into this world, into human nature, to everything. Welcome to the real world, my friend.
