the issue is not you poppy, you've changed and that's fine....the problem is the content of your channel, people probably want to see you as a travel vlogger around the world...not living the hippie life in a van in australia.....but this channel ultimately is yours so just do whatever you think is good to energize and give good vibes to your audience!

I am a returnee viewer. I stopped watching this channel before because I saw a lot of inconsistencies and negativities and ego-trippings in many of the contents. I guess, that's the reason why the viewership has not grown tremendously as compared to other vloggers who truly inspire. I hope Poppy will find her very CORE - that inner value that defines her very essence...her true self...that even though she faces challenges, changes, transformations, she will always find herself not lost and confused, but gracefully maturing and joyfully accepting the end-result of her metamorphosis from those situations. Enough of drama! Start inspiring by showing us the authentic you emanating from the discovery of your CORE.

I watched the whole video. I know exactly how you feel in this vid even if you find it hard to put into words. I've gone through a similar process. I started creating travel videos 4 years ago, but after 3 years (1 year ago) I slowed right down and only uploaded around 1 video per month because I felt the same and still do, not motivated to upload. I'm honestly not sure what the answers are but you are right about changing, you need to change to stay sane, to stay creative... which unfortunately is not what the algorithim or audience wants. Audience wants consistency and algorithim wants watch time. But, if you keep uploading the same stuff over and over you will go crazy, even if the content gets views you'll still go crazy because you'll either feel creatively bored... or mentally burned out. I started making travel videos 4 years ago and back then I was watching FunForLouis and considered his videos the gold standard for travel videos. Since then, over 4 years, his subscriberbase has stagnated on 2 million, his views have decreased from 100,000 down to about 20,000 and he himself has taken breaks and expressed uncertainty about what to do next. Now he seems to have changed from this transient world traveller person to a kind of pro-sustainable living hippie person who wants to live in treehouses and in communes. I've done my 4 years without giving up my day job, but I think it's so much more difficult for people who make the digital nomad thing thier lifestyle. So difficult because of the challenges you face in terms of marketing yourself, keeping up with youtube, and the other non video challenges of just day to day living. When I look at my top performing videos, it makes my heart sink, because the "artful" videos I put heaps of effort into don't get watched and instead it's those evergreen how-to/instructional videos that seem to do well. But... that is actually useful to know, it tells you that there is value in making evergreen videos, because they will keep performing for you (people watch them) even in "the bad times". The hardest question I've found to ask myself is, will I be happier 1) making videos I want to make... but nobody will watch. Or 2) making videos I hate, but the audience wants. That's a tough one to mull over. And what I'm discovering is there is actually a 3rd option which sounds aweful but I believe it it worth considering... 3) Stop making videos for an audience and do something in your life that really really makes you happy. And mabey that 3rd option doesn't even involve any video cameras. Option 3 sounds like quitting, but then I look at several youtubers over the years who seemingly dropped off the face of the earth (they just stopped uploading) and I think a lot of people actually change so much as people that they go with this option... it's the only way I can explain them stopping youtube uploads alltogether.
@Checo13 жыл бұрын
The problem with your 1st and 3rd option is that when you start generating some kind of economic benefit, this becomes a job where your customers (viewers) want a product. (content) Now it is up to you to see if you want to take advantage of the opportunity of being able to generate money or live doing something that not everybody have the fortune to do and continue living your life outside the cameras or lower the curtains and end the show. In this case apparently the clients (viewers) do not like the change in the new content, including me, I think he success was the traveling and how she show the cities, talk about the different cultures, their gastronomy, etc. As she says, life has changed but sometimes unfortunately some things have to remain the same so that they continue to work and that life change continues to be possible.

Here is why I agree and disagree somewhat with you. It's good to chase after our dreams but we all need a little guidance in life when we're stuck not knowing where we're going. A gentle well meaning nudge by a well meaning person may be all it takes. I somewhat disagree with you on the "you do you stuff" because that validates people's behavior which may be good or bad. Last time I've seen a comment of this kind was of a girl getting her eyeball tattooed after she had no more space on her skin...pretty cringe if you ask me yet the comment section was just in glee and a ton of "you go girl", "you do you" and etc.

It's good to hear you recognise that chatting into a camera can distract you from your surroundings and that you are self aware and thinking about how uncomfortable many people are when a camera is shoved in their face, also how annoying it can be to be around someone who is chatting into their phone ... Like when you're on a train and someone is having a loud conversation on their phone. I realize you want to share your journey and that involves filming etc and I enjoy watching your journey. I know the locals at Byron Bay are fed up with KZbinrs and Instagram "celebrities" taking over their town and peaceful surroundings talking loudly into their phones and filming themselves. Maybe it's about finding a balance that you are happy with, I appreciate your honesty and that you don't want to live an unauthentic life.

Because you have changed (and that’s fantastic) so have your interests and so you’re altering your content output and some people don’t like that. BUT more importantly, it sounds like you’re happy where you’re at, not just geographically. Nurture that and PROTECT that, even if it means keeping some of you off your content. If you need KZbin for an income or as a platform, then manage it as such. You’re the boss and you have to make this venture lucrative. Film/post what gets views and serves the algorithm, but you’ve gotta free up your identity from it. IF you want to share yourself authentically, then only those that are in it for Poppy will be your audience. People that were following you for the travel content, adventure babe and other gimmicks etc. may leave because you’re not giving them what they want and they’ll let you know through mean comments 👎🏼 🙄 ... Bottom line, protect you, keep yourself healthy. Viewers will get their fix one way or another through thousands of other KZbin channels. But you don’t have another life to live, so live this one authentically to you. None of these viewers will come to your rescue when you need it most .... Depend on God that He’s already sorted it out for you and rest your mind. 💛🙏🏽

Hi Poppy, first of all, I would like to send you my deepest love and appreciation for everything you do and create into the world. Most people prefer to stay at home and watch others live great adventures while complaining about this or that and leave mean comments as if the person they are watching doesn't have feelings, but that's just part of being on the internet. Hopefully, you're not reading some of these comments, and if you are, I hope you can read them with a grain of salt and be grateful for your own experience and journey and remain in your truth and authenticity. ✨ The social media environment can be really toxic, and some people don't think twice before leaving a mean or judgemental comment... but I'm happy that you found a beautiful tribe of people that love you and cherish you for who you really are (in real life, and of course your subscribers who appreciate you for who you really are) Secondly, maybe you have to create a strategy for the videos? Like sitting down and editing 2-3 h every day and posting every Monday or something like this? Little goals and milestones and you set yourself (it's challenging when you are your own boss as a creator lol) Thank you for the update and looking forward to more adventures from you 💖 Your Romanian name twin, 😊 Andreea

So sorry about the van. Just be you that's how this started and what will keep it going. I see so many channels change directions and worry about people leaving. Let them! Because most wont and you will pick up more. Most people watch a channel for the personality not because its travel or sailing etc. Yes if you bought a house and got a 9 to 5 job and tried to film that it would a problem but as long as you are living an alternative lifestyle and seeing different things people will watch. The van situation really sucks and prayers it works out but like you said that my me the sign that you needed a change. Cant wait to see whats ahead.

I think in response to the first part of your video, talking about your struggle to post, I think you're feeling what's been called "COVID fatigue," not a physical tiredness, but a mental, psychological one. It's a tiredness that creeps up on you without warning and it drains you. To me, the fact that ANY content creator on KZbin is still making videos is impressive, and for me, the content you've been making has been so enthralling to watch. As for what do we, or I, want? Personally, the number one thing I would want from you is to be happy. Be happy with what you're doing. Be happy with the content you're putting out, the energy you're putting out, the side of yourself that you're showing. I honestly love where you've come, what you've changed into, since it's so different from anything I see in my life. And yes, you look soooooooo happy, and it makes me happy to see you happy. If you want suggestions on what to make, I love your van-life videos and seeing the friends you've been making in Australia, but bottom line, again, I think you should make content that you enjoy. I hope you find this helpful. I'm wishing nothing but the best for you, a lot of love, light, safety, and joy. Blessings from the U.S.!

To be honest, it's not as though you can gallivant around the globe anyway at the moment so it was totally natural to find a different path to tread. The most important thing is you are happy, an emotion and state of mind everyone endeavours to find. Your core fans will follow you, adapt to the change and embrace it. The rest? Well, as you know youtube is a very fickle and transient world which means you don't need to please all, just be who you are now and you'll gain new people interested in the ride....

For those out there thinking of traveling.....Travel is FUN..if you do it the right way...IT IS NOT A DISCOMFORT..if you do it like a hippie...MAYBE..but if you plan it right, you can have the best time, SLEEP and Relax comfortably , eat great food ....stay in clean places , where you don't have to share a bathroom with 20 people and be wondering if it is clean that you will not get sick...catch a fungus and GOD knows what other disgusting thing in those share bathrooms...and you can still do it on a budget...I do it every year..I work save and take from 3 to 5 vacations a year.,.and believe me I am not in discomfort...I meet great people. and I have lots of FUN. Hope you can find what you looking for..hope you can find back the spark you had when you started traveling...my suggestion , don't try to see in the world in one week.....Is to BIG!..Hugs.

There was a guy who was commenting regularly on a financial channel about the joys of van life. I referred him to this channel, and he never commented again - I guess he couldn't feign the joys of van life anymore. Van life is hard; living in an Airstream would be luxurious by comparison. (BTW, here in Alberta, there are apartments that cost less than Airstreams.) Nonetheless, you make van life and busking look fun.

Hey sis! I’m glad you posted and let us know how you are doing. I will prolly never go to any of the places you have taken me to through your videos so I wanna say I watch your channel for you-Poppy! So no matter what you decide to post I will be here watching. Even if you just feel like hanging out with everyone on a live stream for 2 hours. Love ya!

The more one changes the more one grows. I am at least twice your age and rarely go to bed as the same person as I was when I woke up. Keep it up - follow your muse and stay a vegan.

Do what ever makes you happy Poppy, run your own race, you wont please everyone. Personally I have enjoyed all your video’s, slightly biased towards the Australian content being from West Australia. Just enjoy life, adjust to what each day brings. Be safe..

Hey poppy. I’ve been watching your content since the China days and what really made me watch your videos was the way you made them and always thought you did a good job. So I guess to answer your question about what content do people want to see I suggest you make more travel videos because you are good at it: also other videos of maybe how you make money now, why did you change to plant based, and how van life is in Australia. But only make videos if you have a passion for it and not just to save your channel. Keep it real as you always do. Thanksssss

I hope you do influence other young women to travel with out fear. I have just returned to Australia (in quarantine in Melbourne) from 2 years in SEAsia I'm an old goddess but I have changed because of throwing away the fear of travelling as a woman alone, Show the way, love that you are living the best life, a happy life. I hope you can fix your van. Look forward to following your journey.

So, now you are being validated and no longer need validation from KZbin?
@mettakindness59993 жыл бұрын
Great to see that you are enjoying Australia. You have a great KZbin channel. The pandemic will end soon enough and eventually you will be able to travel internationally again. Is it not a good idea to do a little bit of editing each day or sometime during the week to keep your skills up to date. Like you said, everyone and everything changes but you have a good thing going with your channel and excellent video editing skills? Even if you are not uploading a video as often as you were previously, wouldn’t it be a good idea to at least be involved in the process a little bit each week? Maybe start small at just 5 minutes of editing or thinking about the process and build from there? Maybe there is some content that you can create that doesn’t involve other people?

Just do what you like, sometimes when you are losing old audiences, you also can attract new audiences. Also, travel may become more difficult due to the virus, i think people can understand, or they also need time to adjust/ realize your change.

It might be easier to just film everything with your phone and post directly from your phone. Nowadays nobody can tell the difference in quality. I used to go around with a big Nikon camera, but I gave up on that. If you have a good new phone, you can do everything with the phone and it's so much easier.

Which editing apps do you use?
@carriewestham43523 жыл бұрын
@@Miabella22 I just use the built in apps on instagram and youtube. I think people aren't that worried about slick editing anymore. They just want to go along for the journey and hear the story. It doesn't have to be perfect.

@@carriewestham4352 Thank you, that means a lot and is very supportive. I am super nervous about coming on KZbin do to the editing and music aspects. Don’t really know about all the copyright stuff and how all that works. Still in the research process. I want a nice intro melody. Thanks again I really appreciate u.

Covid has changed our lives and some of us are happier. The question is, when covid ends and the world gets back to some kind of normalcy, will we attempt to go back to how we were? Will you sell your van? I hope your GH5 and G7 cameras are safe and sound with you, this current video appears to be shot with something else. You wanted feedback, here is my two cents. Inspirational videos are great but I like to see the grittier everyday stuff too, like the solar panel installation and whats in your van videos you did. The finer details and mechanics of living on the road, and how you deal with the bread and butter mundane stuff - guys more than girls may prefer that, I don't know how big an audience we are. Maybe you already made tons of gritty stuff for patreon and I just need to sign up! Talking about patreon, I'm surprised Travellight hasn't an account.

Keep finding out What makes you happy. Sometimes you need a break from some things to remember the joy they bring. You allow me, through your video content to believe that I will be able to travel again and that there are amazing things still to see. For that I thank you.
@futureselftherapy3 жыл бұрын
wow I can tell Aussie have affected you a little with that slight Aussie accent haha. Now I understand why KZbin is so hard, people go through stages in life and from starting up a channel to the time that people are discovering your channel can be years and people change so much during that time. Don’t let this algorithm dictate your life, your audience will change with you, following the algorithm and what people want to watch is like forcing yourself to stop growing and stay in one place which is impossible.

How do you arrange having a Permanent Visa in Australia with your European passport ?
@mangos13463 жыл бұрын
I had been watching your videos since like 2 years ago but really didn't subscribe, because it just feels like another travel channel. But I just subscribed because I want to watch your journey, your change and I echo with it. I am not surprised if you are losing viewers, but you will gather some others, and it is like starting from zero again, so be prepared for that.

i think the fact that u are talking w/ a new accent shows ur immaturity. umm... and i know u found some ppl and u tried some magic mushrooms or some other kind of psychadelic...and those experiences do reveal a deeper dimension that cannot really be accessed thru regular society. and then u see all the holes of regular society. but u dont have to change ur accent. u can remain a serious person even if u took some trips during ur trip. and u can still pursue that dimension in regular life without mushrooms

Don't be rude, some people just pick up accents very quickly, whereas others don't. I'm the same, I always pick up accents when I'm surrounded by people from a different country.

You've always been very outgoing. People don't really change per se, you'll always be you. It's your prospects or prospective that changes as time goes on. What you think or may know one day can and should entirely change over time . That's completely normal, and healthy. It's called evolving!

8:30 I always wondered about that when I saw random people in travel vlogger videos like yours. I personally would feel annoyed even if you asked me if it was cool to film me. The fact that I would have to politely decline was a bother to begin with.

please share some van life and what you're up to. I love your content and have missed it xxx
@-Oddish-3 жыл бұрын
I really don't get the impression it's you that's the issue. I think it really comes down to the content. I loved the travel vlogs no matter which version of Poppy was making them and that's what I'd like to see again. I'm personally not a fan of the van life hippie stuff, but I used to be into it, I know how authentic and good and free it feels. If you want honest feedback, I really hope you get everything you need and want out of this phase and then move on, BUT in the meantime if its what makes you happy right now then do it, and make the content out of it that YOU want. Also, what happened to you wanting to get into more legitimate journalism over travel vlogs?? I was excited to see where you'd go with that
