To clarify, by 'Re-seller', i'm certainly referring to 'Bad Re-Sellers' or 'Scalpers' that buy up multiple of anything off the bat, to sell them for 100s as soon as they can. I have a lot of friends (sometimes close to family) that sell games. Re-selling isn't inherently a bad thing. So assume in this video every time I say that word, I just mean the bad ones :) Love you guys! Enjoy the video and i'll see you in the next one! Wood

Same, as beyond the stock controller the N64 is one of my favorite consoles of all time, and the prices on most games are still reasonable when I go out thrifting, and one of the main reasons I keep a 27in CRT with component inputs in my gameroom next to my 47in Samsung HDTV. So a Mini N64 with HDMI would be awesome.

+gameplayer 119 There are especially slimy scalpers out there that get around those limits. It's a lot of work but possible, and they find it worth their time. The only real solution is for Nintendo to produce enough. ....and it would also be nice if people in general had some principle and refused to pay any substantial amount over MSRP. The scalpers would disappear overnight! But people are stupid, so not happening.
@Gameplayer-vm5ml7 жыл бұрын
***** Well shoot. I think these Classic or Mini editons should not be available for pre-order nor online. If it is only in stores, there is no way to get around buying more then 1. Plus if it is for "nostalgia" for most people, and buying the product in stores is also more nostalgic. But the fact that it is only for a limited amount of time also hurts it badly.

I feel the fault is also with the retailer for not adhering to the policy of one per customer. I purchased items from smaller companies that sell exclusives and they have the capacity to limit a purchase based on IP and credit card used, why cant the bigger retailer companies do the same? I tried to get 2 NES classics for myself and my brother but they only allowed me to get 1, then I see 1 guy walk in and pick up 7-10 under his name? Really?

here's a cool story. My birthday was a few months ago (April 29th) and we went to a GameStop where I had seen an NES classic! I rushed in and the guy said they were out of stock (why did you keep the box out then!?) I left with a $35 éShop card. I saw the NES there before so I imagined getting it to be the highlight of my birthday...BUT then we went to Best buy because I wanted an amiibo and I saw an NES classic! In fact, it was the last one! I bought it and the amiibo that day! It's a pretty fun console but I don't think I'll get an SNES classic. (Or stumble upon one like that)

You made your points well, Woods. Unfortunately, and sadly, I can't think of a single law written that prohibits these 'profiteers' from buying in bulk. The only saving grace would be if the shops and superstores limited each customer to a maximum of two. But then i'd imagine they'd send out their friends and relatives to buy one each. You're right though, it's not right what they do.
@lukaskidd46217 жыл бұрын

Retailers should limit them to 1 per person/2 per household. Won't stop scalping but would severely slow it down and give people a chance. I love when someone is like "preorders were available 3 days after it was announced" as if some people don't live on a tight budget and can just order something right when it is announced.

Some companies seem to be starting this with other things, and while unfortunately it doesn't seem to fix the problem in all cases, I hope it becomes more common. Not to be a dick here, but while I dislike resellers, I view it as an emerging market, that, if Nintendo kept supplies up like Sony and Microsoft this wouldn't be a thing. That resellers can help others in regions where they can't find the object get what they want while providing a job for them as well. While I still have a great disdain for overpaying, I hope that some of those resellers actually do it for a job rather than extra money, and I am sure they do...
@ChromeClad7 жыл бұрын
It's called scalping because morally, it's wrong. If you wanted to eat for 20$ but I bought all the food and resell it for 200$ a plate that's morally wrong. What if you don't have 200$? It's a similar situation. Scalping is the result of human greed, if you have this as your 'job' than I believe it's time for you to find another job that doesn't abuse the system. Hope I could explain!

I lucked out with the NES Classic Mini. I got my hands on one during Best Buy's FINAL shipment a couple months ago. I had to wait for 3 annoyingly awkward hours for them to open their doors. And I got VERY lucky. They only had 6 of them, and I was the 5th person in line (I would have been the 4th if I hadn't been waiting in my truck at first). I want the SNES Classic even MORE, and I'm SO worried about whether I'll get it or not. So far, stores in North America aren't taking preorders. And I hope it stays that way. Because I'm getting up SUPER early that day.
@zeek35807 жыл бұрын
if people are buying them for ridiculous prices then it's not the scalpers fault. people need to stop crying about em. it's simple to me if I can get one for 80 I'll get one if not then oh well. I would love an nes mini but not for 200+. if people would stop paying the prices scalpers would be forced to drop em. blame the customers.

in australia we can pre order already and put a $30 deposit and have the rest pay off when the thing releases, i dont see the issue here unless nintendo doesnt make enough of them you should be able to afford it.
@JComX7 жыл бұрын
Well when Nintendo discontinues the entire product, leaving millions of people with no choice but to buy from third parties, then what are people to do? The customers are to blame least of all. Scalpers share blame because they are total douche-rockets for taking advantage of the system, and Nintendo is responsible for the vast majority of the blame for screwing over their customers.

Re-sellers were such an issue for the NES Classic Mini, that when the SNES Classic Mini was up for pre-order, they made it so each person was only allowed to buy one copy at Australian retailers. At first I thought it was because stock was limited, but it turns out it was mostly to prevent people from re-selling the system, at least in Australia anyway.

I get your point. You're totally right, I agree. Now re-edit this video and make it shorter by about 12 minutes. You don't like re-sellers, I don't like re-repeaters. Still, you're right. Resellers should only be allowed to buy their groceries from resellers.
@longhorn841007 жыл бұрын
Most of the retailers I have talked to about this have said they plan on only allowing one console per customer. Now that is not to say there isn't a way for re-sellers to acquire multiple consoles, but it certainly does make it more difficult for them. I also think that if retailers do offer pre-orders on these consoles, they should ask for payment in full up front on top of only allowing one console.
@VOAN7 жыл бұрын
Most of those came from people who work at retailers (like Amazon, Target, and Walmart), they got the console on day one then quickly purchase them when they arrived, took them home, and immediately sold them on eBay for twice or triple the MSRP.

Would love to get one of these but almost positive it will never happen....I think when you preorder there should be a limit of 1.....kinda like with the fire stick. It doesn't totally stop the resellers from hoarding but it does make it a little more difficult for them to wipe out a store in seconds.

I simply kept up to date with updates via Twitter and other email alerts (from Nintendo and Amazon and other retailers). It really wasn't that difficult! If you are a big enough fan, then you will put in the effort required to keep on top of release information. If a scumbag scalper can put in the effort required to pick up stacks of them at RRP, then YOU can put in the effort required to get just one of them!

Is getting a pay-per hour of 25p on a wii u (with games) worth going for a switch?

I just got mine on Saturday (Wednesday today) and there was two left so I took the advantage and got me both at Best Buy. They were two SNES classics and I asked them about the original Nintendo and they said they should be getting them within a month or two. So I’m pumped up and ready to get me a least three. and no I’m not reselling them. I may give one to my sister since we both used to fight for the Nintendo back almost 30 years ago

Dude, just buy it off MightyApe - its a New Zealand online store and always have stock. I got the 3DS limited edition majoras mask console off them like months after it was released. NZ has a really tiny Nintendo fan base but somehow always get a decent supply of consoles and games.

I got my SNES Classic Mini from JB Hi-Fi. The Eb Games pre-orders sold out in one day, later on the same happened with JB Hi-Fi.

It's up to retailers to limit preorders/orders of this item, it's the only way to partially solve this problem other than Nintendo producing more, blaming re-sellers is treading water and will make no difference.

I got my NES mini about a week after release, same as the switch. No problem getting them in Aus.

what happened in my area is that the store managers and employees bought them all before they even touched the shelf

I pre-ordered one from EB games. and they had a limit of one per customer which should help the scalper problem hopefully
