Being someone who is going to take the very step towards the aim of being a doctor I sometimes feel nervous and scared and think whether I will be able to do the hardwork and give dedication that this profession demands but at the same time my other self being rational tells me that if I have the determination towards it and I have found it the best for myself then I am definitely gonna make it .So everytime at the end The conclusion ends at "I will definitely do it".After watching this video I totally love the way you express yourself in this video and also love how you think everything in a certain way. I am solid sure that you are gonna be a great doctor!!!!

From one doctor to another: you’ll do great dude. :) it’s definitely scary at first, and especially in that first year you’ll feel way out of your depth a lot of the time, but every doctor that ever came before had to go through what you’re about to go through. So just do you best, reflect and learn well, and treat every “mistake” as a way to become a better doctor. There are actually significant parallels in this between medicine and being a creator, but those I’ll let you think about! Take care.
@dabi_2 жыл бұрын
PS if things all seem real dire, just remember: disease happens to people, and we’re the witnesses since we put ourselves there, but we’re not the cause of the disease nor of nature’s outcome. Probably especially useful to remember in what I’m sure will be some pretty intense times in the wards.

Wow this is taking me back. The best thing I did in my fifth year was to stick with the F1 and do what they were doing. My supervisor also made me do a night shift which I wasn't too happy about but it was one of THE MOST HELPFUL things I did in my final year, so if you can I'd do that. Like you said take it one step at a time and whatever obstacles come up, know that you'll be able to face them. I can't promise you it'll be smooth sailing. I left medicine after foundation training and it's only recently that I've been thinking about returning to the NHS. C'est la vie. It is what you make of it. (I think.) Good luck!!

I really enjoy your videos, and I've learned a lot. I'm not in the medical profession, so thanks for showing us all how it works. I've recently been a patient dealing with multiple doctors. The difference between a good and bad doctor? The good doctors repeat back what the patient says to confirm they understand and to build that memory. The bad doctor doesn't and that's why he noted the removal of a malignant tumor as a biopsy of a benign mass in my medical records! I hope you continue to make the vlogs so we see how you grow as a doctor, and I hope you continue with organizational and reflective videos as you enter this new phase. Congratulations and best of luck! I know you will be an excellent physician!

Than you so much for sharing this ! I can totally relate , the upcoming change and responsibility are so overwhelming that you can't help overthink the whole process and it's like endless questions popping up about the future and you just have no answers yet , you have no idea how it'll turn out to be. And at the same time you need to be completely focused on the tasks at hand like exams and clinics training and all that . It's definitely a challenging transition but surviving it will definitely shape who we are and our perspective on life . But seeing this video feels like I'm not the only one going through this , so it's just a natural part of the journey and not just me freaking out . Good luck to anyone who can relate 🙏💓✌ it's just a matter of time until we figure it out ..

This video came in a perfect week for me. I am in my last year of my under graduation in teaching English as a foreign language and in this week I started at my first job as a teacher. Until right now it wasn't terrible but I also have made a lot of mistakes. I am so scared of do something wrong or not teaching in the right way. So many thoughts are in my head right now. In this week I started to think 'you now, maybe I am not good enough for this'. But I have to keep doing it, because this is what I love. I've been studying for four years now, and still feels that I have so much to learn. Your videos really motivates me to be better in my studies and in my work. It is good to see that I am not the first one to be afraid of start working and that I am not going to be the last one. Thank you Nasir.

Hi! First time commenting here and I will start by saying how much I have appreciated your videos and still study along with you from time to time (10 weeks left of my M.Div. at U of T). I am currently in clinical pastoral education at a local hospital where I not only provide this listening and reflective space you are exploring here, I also do this for the staff and students in all departments. What I hear in your story, which you could explore further (what I would do with you if we chatted) is to take a narrative therapeutic approach (the work of Michael White) drawing on other times in your life where you have already made changes in identity and draw upon those skills you already have into the present. Never been to the UK and if the option is open to you, the spiritual care team or chaplain (does not need to be religious, most times it isn’t), they may be able to help you move into that reflective space if that is supportive to your journey. You aren’t alone in this!

Let me tell you from someone who just finished residency, I’d rather go through that again than go through medical school. While it’s a different kind of stress (because the stakes are high, you are literally handling people lives) it is EXTREMELY much more satisfying than just inhaling the theoretical knowledge. It’s a big learning curve (I did the training in a different country than my own), it’s very normal to feel anxious, but usually I tell my juniors now to give it 3 months and they’ll find themselves pros at what they do.. best of luck!
@marwa-bella2 жыл бұрын
This also makes me worried the closer my graduation date is that after a few months the responsibility will be on me.. I always find myself thinking what if I make a mistake, what if I don't know the right medicine, what if I take the wrong treatment...All this makes me more afraid of exams, in the end it is a human life that is in our hands.
