Because I was no longer riding this one and cleaned the tank for storing the bike. Hard to ride all 53+ bikes I have.

@@shaunsavage1726 you can order a DG silencer from DG. There is a air box for sale on eBay right now…query 1979 YZ 250. Look for other parts online you will find them. I have a stock exhaust if you need one.

Charlie I just bought a Yamaha it250 from an Old Guy original owner and it has less then 500 miles and is perfect. I was wondering since your an expert on these older bikes what fuel to oil ratio do you recommend. Or do I stick with the 20 to 1 in the owners Manuel. Thanks

Hi Rick! For the 1979 YZ 250 I ran the VP racing fuel T2 fuel mixture which is 40:1. This is a great pre-mixed fuel for the older bikes. For faster riders 40:1 is a good mixture and you can never go wrong for any bike if you ask me at 32:1 to be safe. For an IT 250 the 20:1 is on point and the bike is probably jetted for the 20:1 as well. If you run anything other than the 20:1 then do 32:1. If it were my IT 250 I would run the 20:1 recommended ratio with a minimum of 91 octane.. Let me know after your first ride how the bike runs.
