I'm single too and have always been single throughout the rest of my entire life. Back in my high school years, I got huge anxiety problem, and I was the most quiet and shy person, and always get picked last in sports. :( Then uni came along, and I ended up developing crushes on some guys; which lead me heartbroken when I found out that they were straight and have girlfriends. Then the cycle of unrequited love happened again when I entered the workforce. Loving someone, but too afraid to tell that person that you love them due to rejection and shyness. Eventually, I found peace in myself after discovering buddhism and other spiritual practices. Love Buddhism. I found this quote by Rachel Brathen that really awakens me: “Life is made up of a collection of moments that are not ours to keep. The pain we encounter throughout our days spent on this earth comes from the illusion that some moments can be held onto. Clinging to people and experiences that were never ours in the first place is what causes us to miss out on the beauty of the miracle that is the now. All of this is yours, yet none of it is. How could it be? Look around you. Everything is fleeting. To love and let go, love and let go, love and let go...it's the single most important thing we can learn in this lifetime"

"Why are you still single?".I get this alot and I'm considered as "good looking/fit/successful career" by people around me so it doesn't help as they sarcastically judge my personality and character coz I'm single. From age 18 till 26 I've been dating. The reason was not all because I needed love but I had attachment issues, emotional abandonment and all this created fear of commitment,low self esteem in me.Which let me to end up choosing someone with the same issue as me, tho I had to suffer betrayal, disappointed and cheat I don't blame any of my partner coz at the end of the day they were good person just not good lovers.But coz of them cheating my self esteem used to fluctuate like crazy.Even the most beautiful compliment seemed deadly at time and even the toxic red flag seemed inviting. And the self deprecating stage was at it's peak.It's been a year now that I told myself "ENOUGH".Now m healing, self love kicked in,I'm in my pace and peace, everyday isn't a sunshine yet it gets better, one step at the time. Whilst people may mean it as a compliment - know that makeup etc is also an art not JUST used in what others assume is to "hide". It takes time, practice, confidence! And whilst it may be meant in a nicer way - it's very much the same as telling somebody to stop doing art because idk, they can express it with words? It's hard to explain but it's still insulting to a degree that can sting MORE coming from those you care about! Relationships should be a degree of 50/50 and treating those you love with respect and willingness to hear and change tiny habits for if it helps them feel better too!! But also.. If you love somebody, you also shouldn't need to have them change for you too! Asking them to not put cups directly on a table and use a coaster is a habit you can ask them to try and learn.. their style however is unique to them, and should be embraced! SURE you can also ask them to maybe tone it down depending on an event that may be serious in nature.. but on a day to day, going out.. embrace their uniqueness!! It's hard also to explain without sounding mean/douchy I guess.. but you should always try and respect and admire your lovers individuality, and if you simply can't - they weren't for you, or you weren't ready for them respectfully! And that's fine in the end, but don't bring them down with you if you can't bring them up to the pedestal they belong on! Fashion, makeup, cosmetics.. it's all a form of expression and art that should be admired!! If you don't like it, it simply wasn't for you and that's fine! But trying to stop it is painful and harmful even if you mean well depending how you word it, and I'm glad people are learning to love themselves first and foremost!!
