Some quotable quotes I’ve taken to heart from other craftspeople I heard over time: * “Was what you made meaningful?” * [if you want to be able to attract the high end clients] “make things some people hate”. Both bullet points were achieved with this project, and I understand how much of your life you’ve poured into this along with the other things going on that have sidelined it. Your transparency and vulnerability to the Wilderness of the anonymous internet is how I discovered your work, and acquired forever a supporting fan in me.

Thank you Aziel! I can see that my way of being comes pretty good to those who want to. The others I am not so much interested in. But I hug them anyhow. They just arrived to their personal limit and are afraid to change! All the best and thanks for your friendship 🥰 Edgar

A violin is prized for its tonality and craftsmanship made from the most basic materials. Any superfluous material which acts as a price increaser is not in any way related to the voice of the instrument which is the main purpose of its being. This is like increasing the value of a watch not by crafting a complicated movement but by placing precious stones on its bezel. However,there are many people who like these decorations and value their ownership.

Exactly! But decorating a violin influences the final sound result. And in distinction to a watch the challenging part has been to find solutions to obtain a great Italian sounding violin! It has not been easy but I realized it very well! I am very proud that I succeeded that well. Now I am organizing a comparison sound recording between the Osmium Violin and a classic violin of mine.

Is there any scientific evidence that decorating a violin increases its tonal quality?
@nickiemcnichols539711 ай бұрын
@@debashismitro3255that’s a very good question, and it deserves an answer. I’m a beginner with the violin, so my knowledge is with a different instrument. I play the ukulele, semi professionally. Once an ukulele is built, any additional pieces of decor can reduce the tonal quality and volume of the instrument. I’ve spent thousands of dollars trying to get my holy grail. I have another one under commission with a fine instrument luthier that will cost a grand. That’s little compared to a very good violin pricing. But I assure you, it will have no pieces of decor added to its surface. (The most expensive ukulele I’ve ever heard of cost 14 grand)

It looks and sounds like a superb instrument and is an example of a very high and rare level of craftsmanship.

Why I would think you would make this instrument? Because you are a master artisan... You need to create... And a new idea is exciting. And it's up to you to make it great! And you did... 😊

If you pause at 2:30, it looks like the top has a relief, the year rings looks 3d ish, how do you accomplish that?

I just “clean” with scrapers the spruce, sand the surface with 400” before wood preparation and varnishing; not too much sanding during varnishing; and not too much dark pigments for antiquing but a little bit with in some areas where needed!
