I must say - speaking thai (even in BKK) completely changes the feeling of communicating and creating a connection with actual Thai people. Of course, people can live here for decades without learning, but, your experience with thai people can be much richer if you (even just try a tiny bit, just even niiiit noi) to speak and communicate in thai sometimes. In my experience people really love it and are so kind even if i've said wrong words and tones. The easiest way to start without classes is you ask how to say something to pretty much anyone you can when the opportunity arises. Ask enough and the words stick! Just a friendly tip 😊 again, lovely vid! Thanks for sharing naka 🙏

Rot (car) Fai (fire) is Thai name for train. Train needs energy to run and in old days, woods are burned to turn into steam to drive the engine, thus Rot Fai. Rot Fai Park used to be railway golf course and a few decades ago, the State Railway of Thailand donated the golf course to Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (Bkk city govt) to turn it into a park, which is not too difficult as there were already grown trees. A few renovations and seasoning plantings turn it into a beautiful park. It is the first park in Thailand that features dedicated bike lane. The park is near Chatuchak market which is SRT's land as well. BMA leased the land and turned it into the weekend market about 50 years ago. Before that the weekend market was at the field (Sanam Luang) near the Grand Palance. Sanam Luang at the moment temporarilyy houses Buddha's tooth relic on loan from Beijing's temple to commemorate 50 years diplomatic relation between the two countries. BTW, Rot Fai Park usually plants some flowers according to season. In December, it is sunflower, while yellow trumpets are permanent plants which bloom from December to February. Nearby is Chatuchak park which is also a big park as well. Compared to Singapore, Bangkok does not have many parks but parks such as Rot Fai, Chatuchak, Lumpini and Benjakitti in Bangkok are big, bigger than most parks in Singapore, the so-called Garden City due to its green space practically everywhere. I should know as I spent 3 months there in the 80s.

Nice video. Good length. So it costs about 800USD per month to live there? Please do one on how to earn that sort of money living there. Visas, taxes and such.
@danpm1990Күн бұрын
Thanks for sharing. I'm curious about the visa situation, you said it's easy to move to but it isn't as easy to stay (visa runs constantly), so which visa are you on?
@MangomaymayКүн бұрын
I understand what you mean! But I’d still say compared to other countries Thailand offers a wide ranges of visa’s that apply to different situations! For me personally I’m on the DTV visa 🥰

I do think Thailand is cheaper, but certain things are more expensive or the same. I do think western food is much cheaper than in the US btw. Prices have risen so much in the US especially if you add in tipping. So what are some things that are more expensive or about the same to name a few (in my opinion)? Imported cars like BMW or Mercedes cost about triple the US. Western childcare is about the same cost per month. And, Western schools are much more expensive than the equivalent quality in the US.

20+ years in Korea, and I don’t speak Korean. When you live in a multi-cultural area - you get by. Meanwhile - I’m learning Thai, it’s difficult because it’s a tonal language. You can get by with English outside Bangkok - lotta places. More rural though - helps to speak some beginner level of Thai.

Ohhh yes! Coming from Dutch (which is not a tonal language) pronouncing Thai words is so challenging 🥺. Wishing you all the best with your Thai language learning journey! 🎉

Yes and it’s so big too! Definitely a place where lots of friends and families hang when the sun is setting and in the evenings it becomes very lively 🥰 About how ‘expensive’ it is to live around here that’s hard to say. There’s quite some condos near by that vary in price I believe so there’s probably something around there for a lot of budgets 🥰
