Out of ALL of your videos on Chattanooga that I've watched so far, this one by far was my FAVORITE. I am planning on moving to Chattanooga in 2022 and have been sooo nervous and unsure... but just like you mentioned-- it has Everything that I love to do! kayaking, paddle boarding, hiking, water and mountain views... I LOVE IT... my family thinks I'm crazy because I'm moving my family soo far away, but listening to you has really helped me.... The more I researched Chattanooga, I just KNEW... You voiced exactly what I was feeling in my heart-- it was like the Confirmation that I needed !!! Thank you so much... I'm still a little worried because I am a minority and I keep hearing that minorities are not accepted there.... but I can't change how I feel and what I love. All of the hobbies that I enjoy are NOT where my people are....... My family thinks I'm weird cause I like rock climbing, back packing, and the like.... Sigh... When you said "Don't let Anything Stop You"-- that was FOR ME

Know you posted this a few months back, but did you decide to move here and do you like it? I’ve lived in Chattanooga all my life. As for minorities (I’m gay btw), it’s not the worst place you could be. Lots of places downtown are very accepting of all sorts of people, no matter race, sexuality, gender, religion, etc.

I really liked your presentation on Chattanooga. I live in Southern California and want to escape as well. And, just to be clear, my politics are conservative and that's what I'm looking for. I don't want to move to a mini California. I have a few questions: Is there a Costco there? Do you feel safe living there? What about crime and safety in general? It sounds like the cost of living is a lot cheaper. What does it cost to buy a house?

Thank you for making this video. We are doing the same exact thing! I have lived in Tampa, Florida my whole life, except for about 7 months in Daytona Beach. In the past few years, my grandparents died, my mother passed away (last Mother's Day actually), and any other family either died or moved away. Same with my husband's family. We have always said we'd like to "live somewhere where there's 4 seasons on day, maybe with mountains". A few months ago my husband and I just said screw it, let's go to Tennessee! He's in his early 50's, I'm in my lower 40's, our children are 18 and 20. They're coming with us. We just finally got the go ahead from his work to transfer yesterday! It's hitting right now that our dream is becoming reality. I have never seen fall leaves in person, the kids have never seen snow or mountains. In our research, Chattanooga just 'feels like' home. Maybe not living in the main city, but a suburb outside of it. I'm going online and house hunting today! Here in Tampa, it's awesome. I love it! But it's changing so much. It took me an hour to drive only a few miles yesterday with the traffic. We live in South Tampa, on the end of a tiny peninsula, where they just want to keep building more and more apartments and condos. More cars, more traffic. Crime is rising, property taxes are rising by the minute, and gas is insane! We are SO done with this place. Tennessee, here we come! Man I wish this was Facebook, I'd send you a message and ask you a few things. I'm going to check out your other videos now!

@AshinTennessee4 жыл бұрын
david hill I’ll have to check out those places! Any recommendations on good camping spots?
@davidhill19114 жыл бұрын
Ashley Kaye there’s plenty of camping going up highway 64 east of Cleveland towards Ducktown. As you head further up, eventually you will see a dam, and a lake, places to camp after that with some beach areas, roads that go up Chilhowee Mountain, that’s a popular place also The Ocoee River was where they held the white water rafting for the olmypics when it was held in Atlanta Georgia, they poured cement into the bottom of the river to make class 4 rapids and the pavilion with all the flags are still there and it’s a nice place to swim when they shut off the water further up which makes shallow pools of water. I’d like to think we pay some form of homage to this place, and the Indians who called it home over a hundred years ago, at some white water rafting outlet near by I remember seeing a t shirt which read, “ run like a river, sit like a mountain, shine like the sun.” Attributed to an Cherokee saying, who knows it was real or not, could have been a gimmick, but it definitely feels different out there, and names like Chattanooga, Hiawassee, Ocoee, Chattahoochee, Even the name Tennessee isn’t of an English origin but means “meeting place”, just reminds us of the culture and people who lived here before. I’ve lived here a bit too long maybe lol, but I find it fascinating, other than that you can get another good camp ground right on the Tennessee River overlooking Harrison Bay at Chester Frost State Park.
@davidhill19114 жыл бұрын
That’s all heading off to the East, there’s also Interesting history in Ducktown, as it used to be a copper mining operation which turned the landscape all around it a musty orange and red and literally killed all vegetation, heading towards the Cumberland plateau to the West Fall Creek Falls is a wonderful spot to camp as well as Virgin Falls natural area those are more towards Crossville, but truly popular.

Saw your earlier video on your move from CA. Although I never lived in Chattanooga, my parents moved there in 1972. She lives in Michigan, now, with family. But, you should know that, after almost 40 years of living in Chattanooga, Mom misses the place dearly. She misses her friends (who still keep in touch with her), and she certainly misses the beauty of Chattanooga. As for me, I miss it something awful. @JesusIsTheLord - I mostly grew up in Chattanooga and have lived in several places in TN over the years. I'm been in Nashville for the last 20+ years. Tennessee is known as "the buckle of the Bible Belt" of the US but that doesn't mean it's easy to find a Bible-believing church. So many places, especially the large mega-churches, teach that unscriptural "Prosperity Gospel" junk. 😵 Have you considered reaching out online to a few churches in the cities you're interested in? Perhaps you can look at some church links and go from there! After emailing with questions and chatting that way with some pastors, it could help narrow down 3 or 4 that sound good to you. Then, you can get the online links to watch their weekly services yourself! Just a suggestion - hope it helps! 😄
@superXfairXgirl4 жыл бұрын
@@Sandi216 Not a bad idea ! But I am not looking for a "church", I am looking for THE Church haha. A gathering of born again brothers and sisters, rooted in the Spirit and the scriptures indeed. Since you are from there, do you know any school which could be looking for a french teacher ? Tennessee seems like a very nice place to live, especially Chattanooga, but I do not know if I can find a job there. A good job and a good Christian community would be like living a dream to me. I know we should not place our hopes on this corrupt Earth but rather on the Kingdom of God, but having spent almost 4 years as a born again in France - because I was born again in October 2016 - I am tired of being lonely all the time because of my faith. I which I could live among my brothers and sisters in Christ so we can help each other in our faith.

I haven't spent that much time in Knoxville to be able to give too much of a solid comparison. I've heard the schools are better in Knoxville area (specifically Maryville) than in Chattanooga. @@donnaevans7 Hello Donna Evans, I’ve seen several of your comments and want to ask you directly about the shootings, crime and terrible schools you speak of in Chattanooga. First off I am looking to move to a more conservative place and I’ve been researching and traveling through those areas in the South over the summer. Chattanooga was one of the places I hit up and being raised in LA originally I drove through East Central Chattanooga (I know it’s not called this but the area between East Brainerd and downtown) and could feel the low income desperate vibe there as I did in the parts of LA that I came from. However, outside of East central (Alton Park, Churchville, Brainerd, East Lake, Riverside,etc.) I felt nothing of the sort, so I feel that it comes down to specific areas one is at. Even though I was familiar with that vibe experiencing a ghetto exposure/immigrant upbringing as I did I could feel that it wasn’t as crazy as LA. Although that’s a big comparison I know and God forbid it ever get that bad in Chat , I feel that it all comes down to the specific region or even streets of the city.

Your salary might drop 35%, but the cost of living is completely different. How much is the average home in your area? Do you have an income tax? TN has a 7% sales tax on regular goods, Chattanooga adds 2.75% for a total of 9.75% sales tax. But there is no income tax, social security is not taxed at the state level, vehicle registration is cheap with no Value Added Tax, etc. Great place to live.

Yup. Just me and them. My 22 year old son may have to assist as I’m not sure I can fit my dogs and the bird in the 10 foot uhaul with my Honda Civic training behind. I’m minimizing for sure but I still have stuff like my grandmas chair and special stuff that has to go. All major furniture is being sold or gone to the dump! Man I have so much to go thru and I’m only in a one bedroom apartment lol. It’s amazing what you accumulate!! Saving up $10-$12 grand over the next year so I will just buy some new stuff when I get there.
