I agree, I retired here in east Tennessee from Michigan, I left behind my daughter and her husband. my son also. My wife and I wanted to retire where it was nicer out and not so busy nuts. I love doing things outside also. We bought a nice place here. I don't pay the taxes and cost of living that Michigan had here. It's cheaper here. Great move didn't look back. I love the weather also.

I got teary with you when you talked about leaving your family. It's so hard! I did it 20 years ago when I left Washington State for California, so thank God we don't have to go through that again, but we do have friends we love like family. The upside, is that so many of our dear friends have already left California, most of them are just a day drive of less away from us and this is exciting to think about. We moved to Goodlettsville, TN, two years ago from Seattle, and we left all our family. Leaving family was tough, but like CA, Seattle was expensive and lots of red tape. I really like Tn but I miss the mountains. The Smokey's are too far away from Middle TN to hike regularly. I'm looking at possibly relocating to Chattanooga soon.

I live in Chattanooga.. ive recently been to Goodlettsville... trust me, Chattanooga is much nicer, and much less stressful, than any large city ( or suburb). Chattanooga is arguably the nicest city ( middle sized to large), in Tennessee. Forget any large city. I moved from Atlanta to Chattanooga 3 years ago, and am very happy about it !

Welcome to Tennessee! Chattanooga is a wonderful city. I was born and raised in northern East Tennessee. When I was 25, I moved to Kansas City, MO for almost a year and hated it. I have been back home since 2008 and wouldn't think of calling anywhere else home. The great thing about where you're at is proximity to all sorts of things to do. They have a lot of concerts in Atlanta (when they start having them again). You're only about 5 hours from the beach. The Great Smoky Mountains is close by. And since you like the outdoors, you definitely should check out Cades Cove near the GSM national park and The Lost Sea, America's largest underground lake and the second largest in the world.

Please pray for us because we have to take care of bills and finances and find a way to buy a house when we do leave this Godforsaken state. So as we are from NY originally moved to Sacramento in 86 moved to Orange County in 93 finally Corona in 98 when our girls were small. This was our home we loved it here now we don’t recognize it and we will be leaving family as well. We just need to settle some place quiet to start the next chapter of our lives. High Cost of living, high taxes, high crimes, and high homeless rate Oh - regarding taxes - they are proposing to increase taxes our taxes in CA x2 (~12k per household). People run from CA because of the high cost of living Yet they still vote blue - which democratic politicians WILL INCREASE TAXES No Income Tax in TN? Not for long if it turns BLUE

Lake Elsinore and Ontario are not representative of California in general. Personally I wouldn't live or work in either if them, or any other Inland Empire community. Enjoy Tennessee, if that's where you are happy. I can't see myself ever living in a "red state ".
