Please specify what southern traditions and way of life you are talking about. What is a "true southerner" in the USA today? Everywhere in the USA today, there are a lot of people formerly from somewhere else. Your "way of life" is not under your control, you can only control yourself.
@franka27433 жыл бұрын
@@chrysr7773 these points could be argued until we're blue in the face, however once upon a time many Southerners did indeed have their own culture, and some still do, and no it wasn't just racism. Of course there's our accent, and there's variations of our accents depending on the region, we had our own taboos and "southern manners" thing going on, and what northerners call "soul food" is/was simply food to us, its just what we eat.. And back in the day religion was taken way more seriously in parts of the south (hence, "the bible belt ") and there was a church on pretty much every other block, but of course this varied I suppose. I remember when I was little it was still shameful (and mostly unheard of) to have multiple "baby daddy", to be drunks, etc., and most everyone in an area knew everyone else. And in the more rural areas people would (and some still occasionally do) even wave at you as pass each other on the road in cars lol (the "southern hospitality" thing, again), etc. Time just flowed differently for us. I remember this very well when I was a small child (I'm in my early forties now). And contrary to popular belief there's tons of black people in the South and for the most part we've gotten along just fine for a long time now, at least where I've lived. Also, black Southerners have their own variations of culture as well. When I was a youth and visited up north the differences in our cultures were obvious. But of course white Southerners are the only people for whom it's PC to make fun of, so we catch all the hell. But the South was much more than racism. By the way, to the haters, I don't give two fks what you think about us. ✌️to everyone. P.S of course it could be different for different Southerners from different places and different situations, I'm just speaking from my personal point of view. And when we ask you to respect the way that we live, just asking you to leave behind the politics and thinking that destroyed the places from which your fleeing.

I worked in downtown Nashville, and the funny thing was that almost everyone I knew at work was from somewhere else. This made it even better because we were all able to learn from one another. It was also cool how everyone brought a little piece of their previous culture with them. My friend from Boston who was Italian taught us all how to make the best sausage & peppers. My friend from Louisiana introduced us to amazing Gumbo. My friend from Georgia could make peach anything. It was so cool! Also, the food there is amazing! The sweet tea is the finest. I so wish I could figure out how to make it the same at home. Also, when I moved there, my cost of living decreased by about 50% and my income only went down about 5%

Most Appalachians, but especially NE Tennesseeans, have a very deep, but quiet relationship with God and Nature....Most NE Tennesseeans grew up farming, near farms, in churches or near churches, on/in the river or near the river... We have confronted the environment, the Laws of Man, the spiritual, the supernatural, as in our dreams and as in a part of our souls...We reject the totalitarian powers of Washington, D.C. and beyond... WE embrace the damn-near Libertarian ideals of Emancipating other Human Beings from bondage, taxation-as-theft, and we love the HELL out of our GUNS. Jonesborough, TN printed the "Abolitionist Papers" for God's sake. As the people of the 423, we deeply respect the Acts of Charity, Kindness, brutal open honesty, observing cleanliness, and being very kind to other human beings and animals....we're the polite "Japan of the South"...hahaha, my Japanese teacher said that once. Just please remember why you are fleeing your state and how it made you feel when it started to change for the worst. I think the remedy for the tragedy of Cali is people moving to new places like TN and learning a new happy way of life. I would be lying if it didn't scare us a little at first but but I have faith in our culture, beliefs, and way that has the power to really give people what their true heart desires instead of just filling the hole in their soul temporarily. Tennessee changes from one end of state to the other. West TN. Is flat and open. Memphis probably not the best area. Nashville is nice in the outskirts, but downtown is turning liberal. Chattanooga has small mountains, good shopping. Knoxville it good place if you don’t mind crowds. Northeast Tn, has mountains, trout fishing, hunting, it is excellent for outdoors people. Not as populated. A 1800 sf home in rural TN is less than $200k. No state income tax.

Found a home in east tennessee and fell in love with the people and it held my values which I love. I never want it to change, I hope people who move here did it for the same reasons you and I did. God bless brotha.

Living in Alabama for years, but Seriously wanting to move to east Tennessee. I love mountain towns. As someone who grew up living in So Cal back in 1981-94 when Cali was cool to live there. Everyone wanted to live in Cali. When people back east would ask what So Cal was like, there was a lot of pressure to impress others. Brands, style, what you own. I saw the early signs of every problem they have now, overpopulation, pollution, drought, higher crime, Democrats from everywhere moving in. Reagan was prez. Too young to understand what that meant to USA. Conservatism was to be proud of. Hope TN doesn't suffer the same fate. Or any other.

My husband was born and raised in East Los Angeles. Moved to Texas in 2010. I was born in Alaska and moved to Texas when I was 5. We are about to move to North Carolina next week. We have family in Tennessee. The Southern charm and hospitality and seasons are such a dream for us. You get 1 season all year long in Texas. Rude people in Austin, crazy traffic, liberalism, etc.. Can't wait to get to NC!

I love this video brother! My house in California is in escrow. I'm moving to that beautiful state in 4 weeks. I can't wait to embrace that culture and leave this state behind. I have strong conservative christian values. I am so excited to live around like minded people. I lost my wife to cancer a year and a half ago and am raising my two amazing little kids alone. I'm so thrilled to be able to raise them away from the insanity that is here. I visited in December and it was just like you said, I expected everyone to hate me because I'm from California, but it was the opposite. People urged me to move there and told me that they always would welcome people that are California refugees like me. One lady placed her hand on my wrist when I said I was from CA. She said, "oh honey, we feel so bad for y'all over there!" Lol. I was convinced that Tennessee would be our new home from that point forward. I fell in love. Anyways brother, I just wanted to tell you how much I loved your video and to thank you for making it. Then I got excited and my fingers just kept typing. Haha. God bless you brother.

I was born and raised in California. A few years ago I completed a trip around the country. Yes, I visited every state. I was still a proud Californian then but had a new appreciation for the rest of the states. Today it breaks my heart to say I'm no longer a proud Californian but a deeply discouraged one. I'll be making the move to TN as well. I'll keep praying for California. And definitely hold on to my real estate in Cali. GOD BLESS TENNESSEE!

I live in Nashville, Tennessee born and rooted here. The reason why I love Nashville (I can only speak on Nashville) is the people. I saw how Nashville came together after the 2020 Tornado devastation it didn't matter what nationality, gender, or race...we came out to help and support those who lost everything. Every church and small businesses had food, clothes, toiletries, or anything people need to take for free. So many volunteers to help people put homes together and so many businesses volunteered to open their businesses for shelter. It put a smile on my face. I will say, Nashville gets the job done. The entire city was eager to put the city back to normalcy. That was my proud moment for Nashville. Let's be honest to those who plan to move to Nashville. I know Tennessee can be cheaper to those who paid higher taxes in other states. Those who plan to purchase homes and apartments in Nashville. Nashville is ripping you off! I watched a beautiful brick house bulldozed to the ground! The contractor built *TWO* panel style beach looking houses that has two levels on the same property and had the nerve to squeeze in a tiny driveway. No yard space, no privacy...just *TWO* separate homes, side by side, sharing a property. I watched the builders put the foundation on one day and I went to work a 12 or 13hrs shift. Later that day, I saw both houses were built with the plastic covering around those houses. To my surprise... the windows, the front door, and the roof was locked and ready! I was like, "WTH?? They just throwing these houses up!! They bulldozed a perfectly bricked house with plenty of property for two cheap style beach houses." They are selling these homes for $400k! Yes, it is a brand new house, with modernize appliances, and location. But thats it! That's what its worth! Not a stable home, because the material is cheap! Plus, the contractor hired 5 men to build those homes! That's insane and that's being greedy. My advice: Get excellent home insurance on those houses. Make sure you have Flood insurance too. Nashville sits on a flood zone. I feel sorry for those who doesn't know $400k can get you a 4bedroom 3 1/2 ba, and a two car garage home for that price and if its a brick house, slap an extra $50k or $60k on it. A 4br houses for that price will be 30 to 40mins drive outside of Nashville. "Now, to those who read this... I gave you city secrets. They are playing you guys when it come to home buying in Nashville. If you have children...do your homework! If you are single, Welcome to Nashville." Another Con: The traffic in Nashville. Because Nashville basically built apartments and lofts on sidewalks and streets. The city never sat down to discuss traffic flow and parking before development. Nashville is a city that doesn't run 24hrs. You have to have a car to live here. Its not that big, its growing, but the traffic flow...you will notice the city didn't think much on traffic flow or parking. The city were more excited on giving 'new residents' a place to stay, but didn't think about the 'new residents' will have visitors too. Soooo. Yea...if you don't have a car...it is a must and and it may be hard to find parking anywhere. Traffic's gridlock starts around 12pm-6pm. We used to have breaks during weekdays, but not anymore, its 12-6p. I say run your errands before noon Mon-Fridays. Saturdays and Sundays are cool. You will notice frequent car wrecks, they are caused by people who are impatient and some who doesn't know where they are going. Yes, we have car accidents daily, especially on the road. Be aware. ✌🏿
