I like the walk and talks: it shows what metro really looks like, not just the posh parts of BGC or the IT park in Cebu. There is lots of poverty that is not shown by most vloggers and the scene at 6:00 is pretty typical
@marimar316110 ай бұрын
Nahh. He's not even showing what most of Makati looks like. He's in the slummy part. Downtown Makati is beautiful and walkable like BGC. But no one ever goes there and shows what it's like

Oh, this is going to be very, very interesting. I'll be in the PI from Nov 2024 - March 2025. I have no intentions of spending time in Manila as I can't stand big cities but, depending on what I see between now and then, I might be convinced to do a few days visit. I've always understood Makati to be somewhat expensive.
@deantucker146410 ай бұрын

Good to see a vlogger breaking the tradition of staying in the entitled and wealthy BGC.
@marimar316110 ай бұрын
except we all know what Poblacion Makati looks like. Vloggers go there all the time. It's the redlight district, afterall. But what about the nice part of Makati? It's as big as BGC and almost as nice, but we hardly ever see vloggers go there.
@WestYorkshireGuy110 ай бұрын
@@marimar3161 we do see voggers go there because many stay in the hotels, because BGC is too expensive for them. Why be prejudice on Tom going to an area where there is Prostitution? There is Prostitution all over Manila, it's just not as obvious. You trying to claim Tom is going looking for Prostitutes?
@Peter-td3yk10 ай бұрын
well if you have been to PI its a sheet hole in a lot of places. Medical care is poor. Electricity is a after thought. water can stop. traffic is horrendious. If i go back it will be in places like bgc. why i deserve to live like that and would. I can always go slumming in some barangay but then sleep in a developed home. I lived in asia 2 times as an expat. quality f life is important, as one ages medical moves to the forefront. Ever hear chickens noise, pigs squeeking, motorcycles load with NO exhaust. Sit in traffic, get out of taxi and go to a mall untill traffic subsides thats nuts..It gets old. save your monies goto a nice place life is short
@WestYorkshireGuy110 ай бұрын
@@Peter-td3yk So you are one of those typical entitled Westerners who never fits in to Filipino society, tells Filipinos how it should be done, complains and insults the culture and doesn't really belong. The same types live here in the UK but come from Muslim countries. I bet you complain about those immigrants yet you are one of those immigrants too.
@lightner692410 ай бұрын
BGC is way overpriced and is designed for rich foriengers. To pay for something half decent you need to pay a stupid amount. You're begegr going to Thailand. The Philippines is a shit hole.

@willsmith3910 ай бұрын
Lived in both myself too as was stationed to my company Manila office for 3 years and later did 2.5 years in Bangkok. Didn't find it all fake smiles in Thailand at all to be honest, quite the reverse. I found people in the Philippines for sure very friendly. So both great in that regard I found. Both places have their plusses and minuses but personally I much preferred Thailand on balance due to the food and Thai culture and accomodation. That said I'm now retired and chose neither as I went with Malaysia as it edges both for me in the things I care about. Its all subjective of course

I enjoyed looking at you, taking me down memory lane, to the other parts of Manila. The one you ate is "daing na bagus" fried milk fish. Filipinos are chatty. 195 pesos is $4; that's already a heavy meal. You can get a good meal at 160 pesos. With your kind of foreign attitude, you'll survive in Manila. Live like the locals do, you'll go a long way.
