Thanks for showing the quick release clamp because I have tried the other and it never stays in place. Thanks for showing how easy it was to remove the blades. I work with clay for years and this was the number one thing I disliked and now I need to just cave in an spend the money and get one.

Ooh Baby! I’m sold but I’m seeing that Ed is backed up quite a bit. It’s worth the wait. 😀

I understand! Yes, an acrylic roller will work, but it takes SO much longer. They do ship the machines internationally, but I suspect shipping costs are expensive. In the meantime, you might find this video helpful: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rqTGZaeYbbt8qrs

I got mine this year and it was well worth the wait and the money. I also purchased the motor for it. Clay play is so much easier for my old hands now 😊

I bought a Monafied machine in the spring of '21. Best investment in pc made in 20 years! I need a motor due to a shoulder injury so I didn't want to spend the extra on Ed's machine, as pretty as it is. Mona's is worth Every Penny!

I first had a Darius, which broke in 6 weeks. I thought it was me. So, with a coupon I bought another. That made the most grinding sounds straight out of the box and died in a week. Next was the Makin’s. Much wider, with the coated rollers so clay doesn’t stick as much. A good machine but hard to clean. Then I Monified. I love how easy it is to clean and the machine is very sturdy. Plus, the clamp it came with was larger than the other clamps that came with the Darius and Makin’s, so much less twisting and untwisting to fix it to my table. That should last me a good few years. If it ever dies, I shall get the Ed Street modified version. I think that plexiglass base will give the machine more stablility. I imagine that over time my Monified Atlas will loosen with use and loose stability. But, I am sure that will take years. Great video. Thank you.

I’ve had the modified Atlas for eight years and haven’t noticed any loosening up of the base.

Loved the video and information but really got a kick out of the visuals you used to illustrate your journey. Cracked me up a bit but great flow matching images with your words. Do you use a motor with these? I really want to use both hands on the clay and not have to crank the handle. I know machines are available, just wondered if you have ever used the motors with them, how well they work, and does Ed paint the motors to match too?.

Thanks, Amy! I thought it would be boring to just watch me holding the pasta machine while I yammered on for 4 minutes, lol. It took a surprisingly long time to assemble all the images, but I'm glad you enjoyed it. Sorry, I can't help, but the noise of a motor would bother me and make creating with clay far less enjoyable. So I don't have a one and don't know anything about them.

@@SandyHuntress No worries, you linked us to Ed's page so I will ask him. I suspected your editing job for this one was a great deal of work and your timing with the words and images was amazingly synchronized.

Thank you so much for this video!! Your informational videos are just great!!! I just wished I knew about this earlier because I just purchased another one thru a special price with motor. Ugh. Haha. I love the way the modified works with removing only the blades for cleaning. Wow! - would Mona Kissel modify an existing machine too? Would love that feature ... I do have one question - do you use a motor? I just knew you were going to have that in the video - but no. Lol. I have bought my second Atlas with a motor and love it. Would like your thoughts on this. - Again that’s so very much for creating wonderful videos for us !! ❤️

I have found Mona’s website and yes they can modify “your own machine” too! Cool!! Would still love to hear your take on the motor 😃

Although I’ve heard lots of folks say how much they love their pasta machine motors, I find I prefer a quieter working environment. Also, my husband has Lyme disease and sometimes can be hyper sensitive to sounds. I think it would make me not want to work with clay if I was using a noisy motor. So far, physically it’s not an issue, so I have no plans to get a motor.

@@SandyHuntress thank you for your response :). And it is very noisy for sure. I totally understand the drawbacks in terms of that. 😅. Again thanks for your great videos you share with us clayers 🥰

Can you please tell me if the blades or rollers changed when the modify the machine.
@SandyHuntress

They don’t change the rollers, but they make the blades removable so you can clean them.

That is neat but I would never spend that much. The pretty colors are tempting though. *grin* My cheap one is still working great for me over 10 years later. :) As for the blades thing... one time modification of the cheap one and mine works just like yours. :D - Heidi

That’s a very good question, Alexis! 🙂 I would certainly love the opportunity to try the Lucy Clay machine. But since I have never have, I can’t say which I would rather own.
