The best bike is the one that when you look outside and see nice sunshine would make you want to drop all your other plans and go for a ride, whichever bike that may be. I'm in the same camp as you, the more character a bike has makes me want to ride it. 959 is insanely gorgeous too :)

Well said. This is exactly how I feel about the Ducati at the moment. Just waiting for March and some sunshine to be out on her again. In the meantime I'm going to enjoy my Ninja 300 and give her some love. Thanks for watching and commenting. I really appreciate it.

The only Ducati you will see on the road is the one you're riding. I have the 1199s and i swear people look at it like its mythical, and would never see it again. The BMW is all over the place. Don't get me wrong! I ridden one and it's FANTASTIC! But sometimes it's good to be different.

Superb video well done in explaining why we ride bikes not just for the top end rush, but the whole experience I’ve just got rid of a CBR1000RR fireblade as felt it was soulless bloody quick yes but it didn’t give me a buzz bought a 959 first ride today in damp conditions the feel you get is great confidence inspiring this bike made me smile all the time I was riding it it has soul I couldn’t agree more with this video sums this bike up totally keep up the good work wanderlust love your vids, jon from the uk..

I was down to the same two bikes and went with the Ducati. The S1000RR was great but felt "generic" to me, if that's even possible with such a nice machine. There is just something different about a Ducati. And the sound, I could listen to it all day every day.
@tommy6058 жыл бұрын
I have the same view on everything. Perfection isn't fun. I want a bike that may at some point try to kill me or burn my nuts off rather than do everything for me. That's half the fun. Probably why I like women that are a little crazy too. For a bike, I think too easy to ride becomes a danger. We get lazy and know the bike has the possibility of saving us when we aren't paying attention.

Wonderful video and gorgeous motorcycle. I think you did an amazing job of explaining what the appeal is to the ducati's that not many people understand. Yes there are faster bikes, better handling bikes, cheaper bikes etc. But its really about how a bike makes you feel and the Ducati's really make you feel special and unique when you ride them. And for me that's what riding is all about. Thinking of picking up a 959 soon...
@Raphael19898 жыл бұрын
+Jaret Campisi Thank you so much for your warm words. Life is not always about getting the best thing on paper. There are factors you just can't measure. You will definitely love the Ducati. Let me know when you got one.
@JaretCampisi8 жыл бұрын
You're welcome buddy :) Also, I actually took a 959 for an extended test ride yesterday (about 2 hours) and although I love the charm of the bike, I found the seat and riding position to be pretty uncomfortable. Like to the point of I don't think I'd buy the bike because of it. I feel kinda heartbroken about it to be honest but man those ergonomics are kinda brutal...is it something you get used to or what?

"Life is not always about getting the best thing on paper. There are factors you just can't measure." Well said!
@carlosaero16577 жыл бұрын
Jaret Campisi the best bike is not the best look or the best specs on a spreadsheet. The best bike is that one you feel confident to ride, no matter what cc is or how many hp it does. Riding position can be crucial for some riders and if you feel too much uncomfortable it will shred your confidence over time. A non confident rider should never leave the garage.

@LinuxGalore8 жыл бұрын
the word you are looking for is "character", you can design a machine that is so perfect it becomes devoid of character. That aside I notice at the street GP in the pro class a few weeks ago the top 4 placed bikes were all Kawsaki ZX10's so power isn't everything either.

I think this is an important video, I'm not sure everyone will understand why either. Most people riding bikes now, or lets say a huge majority have become fashion minded rather than practical and love minded about what they ride. I have heard so many Vlog motorbike channels confess its all about looks, which give and take isn't such a bad thing. When you go out with your girlfriend or wife its important to feel good about her looks, but when you make love to her at home, it's important to have a connection and feelings about her if its to work out for the future. So good looks nearly as important as feelings. The Ducati makes more sense because its unique, the BMW makes more sense because its too perfect and everyone is after one. There is a few important moments in this video, one big one being " when ever you accelerate and open the throttle you always feel amazing and nice inside, and that it personally works for you and I think it would for others given the chance. Like the day when you first start riding bikes, and you buy one that suddenly does the corners well, looks better , sounds great and because almost like family. You are right there bis not one thing wrong with a BMW S1000RR, but the Ducati will always be better. Only one problem though, at low Revs the Panigale sounds like a farmers tractor until the throttle is turned up and its amazing hahah Thanks for sharing, appreciated

I agree with your comments about the 959 Panigale, I ride a 899 Panigale. One of the reasons I picked the 899 was due to it going 65mph in first gear, local speed limit on the highway is 70 mph, which means I can really get on it. The BMW S1000RR first gear goes to 90 mph, where's the daily fun in that? The 899 is really fun on the road and the track, the BMW S1000RR and Ducati 1299S are really a lot of bike and I couldn't see them being much fun the road, crazy on the track.
@Raphael19898 жыл бұрын
You are absolutely right about that. For the street a 899/959 is all you need and even on the race track most riders won't get the maximum out of a 899/959. A S1000RR or a 1299 is for semi-professional use on the track.
@bencubelo93256 жыл бұрын
I absolutely agree , I had a new S1000RR and traded it in for 1299S within 2 weeks!! Like you said , BMW is almost perfect but just lacks personality.. The 1299S is far more challenging to ride buts its exiting for me and more suitable for my weekend rides...

I love your video. Here's a parallel story of why I like Ducati's. I just came back from a trip to Costa Rica's in its jungle rainforest where I had the opportunity to horseback for the very first time in my life. I was also very fortunate to ride a temperamental "nino" that just wanted to run...nothing else. He would rattle his head and buck (really!) when I tried to slow him down. Characteristics very similar to a Ducati where you'll never ask the big twin "where's the kaboom?" It's there with character and plenty of engine braking to boot. That's what I like about the Ducati...but that's just me. Because of your story, I am not alone. PS. I own the 959 Panigale and also an M1200R.
@hfracing8 жыл бұрын
pretty much the same reasons why i got my 899.. it might not be the smoothest bike. i came from a cbr600 and that was much smoother.. BUT. the panigale feels "special" all the time :D a bit like a 2 wheeled hotrod :) and with the baffle in the exhaust disabled, it sounds amazing (899 still has the 108db small exhaust)

I always maintain - you don't buy a Ducati (especially a Panigale) because you want a motorbike - you buy a Ducati because you want a Ducati. I'm very happy with trading up from a Monster 795 to the 899 Panigale - you never look back.

Had the same dilemma. Had my 959 18 months now and still loving it - the Panigale has a soul and you won't get that from a BMW. Having said that, I would like more power from the 959 and the sound of the twin-engine is timid compared to the scream of a decent V4. There's always something to moan about! :)

It is kind of simple, If you do not care about electronic gizmos that you actually dont use and if you rather want a very light and nimble bike and quite a comfortable bike for those that are "height challenged" with short reach to the handlebars/clipons. Then there are only two bikes out there right now for you and those bikes are the Panigale bikes and the D675 bikes. They are in a class of their own if you are looking a bike with those attributes. But I do not care for the sound of the L-twin, it sounds as if you had attached a card to your bicycle so to speak. A v-twin sounds awesome and booming at slow rpm and off the throttle, not when it is pinned down like a triple or a inline four cyl engine. :P Anyway a big, heavy and long bike like a bmw s1000rr is a "meeeh" bike :P

Quick question why not go for the 1299 ?
@wilman77707 жыл бұрын
Easy. I test rode both twice. 1299 generates more heat in traffic. 1299 has too much power. Cranked it up and was doing 110 mph in third gear. Unless you plan on primarily using it on the track, what's the sense? 1299 has issues with stalling out. I bought the 959 and have had it since June. Have about 3,000 miles on it. There still is the issue of heat. I wear leathers all the time, so not as much an issue. If you don't, it is a problem. Bike handles like a dream, and you have more confidence in the twisties.
