I’m your stereotypical money-burning BMW fan. I have the ///M hat, though don’t wear it. I have an M3 (after 7 other M cars) and a 2020 S 1000 RR M Sport. I am that guy. The love for the S1000RR reflects an aesthetic. It’s the deep appreciation for intelligence and diligence seeking perfection. Once flashed to undo the vandalism BMW performed to comply with US regs, it gets as close as you can get to motorcycle perfection. It’s rocket fast, flicks like a 600, has gobs of midrange for when you’re relaxed, buttery-smooth quick shifter/blipper, its riding electronics cover up all but your most egregious errors, has the best TFT console in the business, and then has all the BMW luxury features like heated grips, Bluetooth phone/helmet integration, cruise control, Nav, self-canceling turn signals and even hill stop assist. You revel in the way that BMW engineers anticipated and fulfilled your every want. The aesthetic also makes us get beautiful wives/girlfriends, nice cars, homes, etc. But for some apparently, this Teutonic aesthetic is too cold and clinical. They instead treat imperfections as synonymous with character, instead of the flaws BMW seeks to excise. The wide psychological spectrum makes the world interesting. I like it that some prefer Triumphs and mercifully date the fat girl with zits.
@92RB20Monster4 жыл бұрын
That whole "boring,cold and clinical" view you have for the bike is not the fault of the bike,its your perception of it,and if you think of it that way all the time thats going to be how you end up viewing it.The bike does have a soul,just because it has electronic aids and is made in Germany doesn't make it any boring or less fun than a "authentic no aids motorcycle".There has been a huge deal going on with people thinking that the electronic aids make it to where the motorcycle is a nanny for the rider,and makes it less fun,i can say the exact opposite,those rider aids let me push the bike to limits that you can not as a human physically even compete with.But I digress,ill make a video on it sooner or later.
@cosef44914 жыл бұрын
🥱For a second I thought this was a Harley channel with all the talk about soul and character which loosely translates into “we can’t build a better bike than our competition so let’s just say our bikes inefficiencies, lack of refinement and technology are good things (character) and a motorcycle built by a brand that spends a ton of time and money developing great motorcycles that are refined, efficient and full of cutting edge tech soulless” Look I get it. If you can’t beat them bash them or talk about consumer report unscientific study from like a decade ago with some brand(s) and motorcycles that no longer even exist and say see Japanese good, Europe bad but for some reason consumer report also stated that BMW riders enjoyed their motorcycles more than the Japanese owners but that info is usually left out. How can a 200hp light weight hyper bike be boring? I’ve owned Japanese, Italian, American and European motorcycles and none of them ever gave me any real problems. Just check the specs, test ride and decide. Trust yourself and no one else

I waited for decades for BMW to release, and when they did I grabbed one and then again for the final production run of the 1st gen in '18. My segue platform was the '09 R1 simply for the cross plane. The bike, R1, was absolute $4!+ on paper but the ride for me felt like turn 8 at Willow Springs in the late 90s. In the end, whatever a rider chooses, I think it's important the platform meets or exceeds the expectations. Yammie may be a grom in this culture but his perspective has always made me chuckle because he's on point with only a few years off the grid. Keep up the great work Yammie. Im still trying to wrap my head around my grandfathers BMW track bike. Dude is 90, and was never a sport or track rider. That thing is probably at least 10 years old, and it has that old lucky strike stamp on it...and somehow, its well used, and maintained. Thats the only thing he comes to town for....

My new M package was delivered last week. I am delighted with it so far. I am never going to track it or mod it because its just perfect as it is. I am the kind of guy that buys nice bikes like they do nice watches. I know have 5 nice bikes.

There aren’t my bag really, the litre sports bikes. However, soul isn’t something I consider in them if I was after one. Precision, and fine details yes. These things are like a scalpel. Not a chunk hunting knife.... For the public roads they are getting a bit much but if you want one, have the riding skill and money.... go for it. And the BMW would be on my list. Probably at the top in fairness. A creaky back and desire for a bit comfort guide me elsewhere but I totally get why someone would pick this bike.

the reason you buy a s1000rr is simply the fact, that the price is amazing for what you get...if you want the same stuff on a suzuki or a yamaha etc. you pay 2000 more for those and they arent even close the horsepowr

I fell in love with this bike immediately when world's favorite squid Tom Cruise rode it in Mission Impossible Rogue Nation. This is the one and only bike I would own.

Yea, that's why I bought one. 2022 S1000RR. I have owned several Honda S1000RR's, except the newest one. I bought them all because they are predictable. The Italians made some lovely metal, however having a bike with endearing problems. I really like a little boring reliability with the machines I'm entrusting my life to at great speed. 10/10 would buy another BMW s1000rr

Just want to add that in 2010 the S1000 rr won every SBK Superstock 1000 race with Ayrton Badovinin winning the championship in 2010 - Silvian Barrier 2012 -2013 - 2016 -2018. Unfortunately the FIM stopped the SBK SUPERSTOCK 1000 CC Racing category. It broke lap records every year race after race. :)

I have one, it’s freaking ridiculously awesome. On track it’s amazing. I don’t love it on the street, I think my KTM RC390 might be more fun there. The 390 is lighter, and you can use all the gears. I probably don’t exceed 20% throttle more than 5% of the time I ride the S1000RR on the daily. I’d also suggest the S1000RR doesn’t have much soul, I find Ducati’s warm hearts more.
@Image-X Жыл бұрын
The S1000RR M doesn’t way a whole lot more than the 390…. but has WAY WAY more power….. which is easily put down….. even on the street.
@EchoConstellation Жыл бұрын
@@Image-X it’s easily put down. It’s the easiest 1000cc bike to ride for sure. But it’s still more enjoyable to ride a slow bike fast than the fast bike slow.

If you don’t like refined bikes that are so good their boring then get an 1980s era Harley. They will keep you very amused as you hope it might start, hasn’t leaked all the oil out overnight or that the lights will work for more than 3 hours from shaking apart. I’ll personally take a bike with quality and is boringly great over a bike with lots of “personality”.
@Fearless1544 жыл бұрын
I had s1000rr 2019 model and it was so boring to ride I sold it shortly and bought 2018 r1 it's not as fast but damn it's much more fun to ride with nice character and sound. S1000rr have pretty much your typical sport-touring engine feel to it which is not the reason why I buy superbike in the first place. But I understand it may be appealing to some people who buy bikes like cbr1000rr but not for me. I rather get paginale v4 which have all of the BMW refinement and even more but actually being a hell of the fun to ride.

I don't understand how can someone call S1000RR "soulless". BMW has a long history as a motorcycle manufacturer so naturally they - if anybody - know how to make the "perfect" bike. This is like saying that Rolex or Patek Philippe watches are soulless since they just are "too perfect" and "too well engineered and crafted".
@adnan_Ok4 жыл бұрын
Did you know that all S1000RR s pull to the right when you release your hands from the handlebars? BMW responded to my complaint with " this is not a normal riding situation and it's not noticable when you grip the grip the handlebars" Yes this is true, but I prefer my bikes to remain on the road as opposed to the cow paddock on the right.
@Fearless1544 жыл бұрын
You mistaking with gs1200 and all of the BMW's boxer engines. I had the 2014 s1000rr, as well as the 2019 model and none of them, pull you right and they don't even have handlebars but clip-on. Why you spreading lies and ignorance make sure you read the article well and understand it before you post this non-sense.
@ryanoliver91314 жыл бұрын
I think their boxer engines do that but it isn’t like it’s going to throw you off the road. Ride on one like the r9t and you will love it.

Its obvious you are getting your own opinion into this, on the contrary the s1000rr is the most refine and practical bike ever made because it’s well made , I say that based on long experience

S1000rr was NOT BMWs first sport bike K1200S - made in 2004(well before the S1000rr) and while sure you *could* put some bmw saddlebags on it, it definitely wasn't a "big bad open touring kinda bike." The k1200s and its spawn the k1300s(2008) were for sure sport bikes with inline 4 engines and around 170ish hp, similar power to an R1 or ZX-10 in those years. The K1200S actually set a speed record in 2005, so plenty of crazy sport bikedness. The s1000rr was just the first liter bike from bmw as the k1200s was a bit more than a liter

The s1000rr is probably one the best litre bikes ever made, I own a 2013 hp4 and as I agree with what your saying you simply can’t compare the bike with others like this the bike as you say is a master piece and should be held as such the bike had a lot of character and it’s soul is black and cold underneath all the refinement. I’ve owned lots of leader bikes and the Bmw is simply put as the best!

the thing about s1000rr is that it feels slow even thouts its fast think of it this way when you ride a 1299s or even the new v4 it feels like the faastest thing on track it shakes buckle and weave even thout the stop wacth might say otherwise and toruqe with electronic turn down is crude and all powerfull there so easy to wheelie but s1k is calm and collected even when you tiwst the trottle to much the bike gently lift its nose rather then bam right up like a pangale the laptimer might favor the s1k but i always felt more rush from the panigale bike there just raw adrenaline rush im not a racer but i like taking part in club races and track day and my 1199s and v4 speciale always made me smile way more then my s1000rr 2017 and zx10r
