Hello Suwara, I also am Latina. I was taught to learn how to love the way you look by looking nice for yourself, not your partner. I learned basic cooking skills, and we have a maid so cleaning was never really a thing for us. I do agree, Latin mothers, want their daughters to be intelligent but also independent.
@Ekkiert83 жыл бұрын
@@johannaguzman9521 I respect that you were taught to look good for yourself, however I don't remember writing anything in my comment directed to WES that I cared for any disguised feminist opinion. Keep your thoughts to yourself and most of all the passive aggressive judgment. Back off, live your own life. Talk if you are being talked too and mind your own business when people aren't talking to you. Knowing when to talk is as important as knowing when to be quiet
@johannaguzman95213 жыл бұрын
@Suwara hello and good morning Suwara. I do not understand how what I wrote was "passive-aggressive," so, sorry if I offended you? I was only trying to be relatable towards someone from my ethnic background through an open conversation. From what I just read I am a bit confused; you're the one who seems "passive-aggressive" because you are purposely trying to put me down on a public forum. Writing that you are happy that I'm independent, then towards the end writing that I should mind my business is an oxymoron (redundant). Having an open conversation, especially in a public forum is normal. Purposely putting me down, is a sign of dysfunctional conversation/communication, which is unhealthy. The first amendment allows American citizens the ability the freedom of speech. Anywho, I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day 😊

Well said. Take it from a much older guy and found the wisdom you just preached much later in life than you, what you are saying is the truth. Dating in US is much harder and women's expectations is now for the man to work and provide, comes home to cook and clean, and take care of the kids, and do all the handy work...if you can do all of that and then keep things romantic maybe you are a good man, but they will leave your ass as soon as some hotshot making millions look their way. 😂

Always listen to your elders, even if you think they have “old values”. They have interacted with more people for a longer period of time than any of us. Ive dated non westernized women in the west and they are like unicorns compared to the certain demographics in my age range. I've had women tell me all the things I need to do and in return maybe get peace. A realization came over me that the more you give, the less they respect you and that kindness and respect isn't valued as much by these women. I tried dating a woman that made much more than me and that did not work out as she thought I could be treated like my opinion doesn't matter because she out earned me. Single moms who think I'm just going to carry them and their kids, etc all are 🚩🚩🚩 All of it comes down to the fact that modern women aren't shit and they don't know it because the culture keeps telling them their boss bitches meanwhile they're broke as everyone else. Their ego and narcissism is off the scale that there's a clear reaction from the men in our society and criticism is met with insults like incel or being called broke. I see so few "good relationships" as a result and it's no surprise that divorce statistics keep climbing EVERY year that are initiate by a majority of women.

Yup, the trend isn't going to stop though, Morgan Stanley did a study showing there will be a lot more single working women in their 30s and 40s that won't marry. This is due to the things you mentioned: the sky high expectations, lack of feminine features, high income while expecting the man to make even higher income despite wanting equality. Morgan Stanley doesn't care about being politically right, they care about being financially correct so they could make better investment decisions for their clients. A big win for America's economic engine, a big loss for men and women

Wow this is brave! Haha speaking as an Arab woman married to a Latino man....I totally think this is true. I knew I never wanted to be this super career oriented woman because I wanted to have a family and I saw the value that my parents put into our lives in traditional roles. I didn't look down on my mom as a home maker and my dad as a provider because I saw how much more ease we had over a lot of American households. And this whole culture of feminism, like you said, has brought so much good and also so much grief because it has yet to have been balanced out. We should talk through some of these things to help give balance to the discussion! I appreciate it man. I would add that we should be weary of generalizing American women into that ultra-feminist description. I think most women in America want to do their best for their families and sometimes it means earning an income and taking care of finances alongside their husbands. However, in most parts of America, I think women put their families first and put a lot of nurturing and care into their husbands, children and parents and so on. I lived in Texas for a while and loved the different perspective in American values. It was more balanced. But then, we came back to Cali and omg. It's an LA thing. LA culture is just so unreasonable! People wanna act like gender is useless out here. I think people like us who have been outside of LA know full well that these people are like...lost haha Also, my husband is from Medellin, so I hope we'll get to visit soon! Thank for showing me what it's like there!
@WheresWes3 жыл бұрын
THANK YOU. I appreciate your viewpoint coming as a woman, thank you for sharing. I'm glad we more so have the freedom to pick if you want to go by traditional roles or not, but I feel like men are struggling right now because the things we truly want are being condemned by this new feminist movement even though we have wanted the same things since the beginning of time. Obviously we need to change as men too, but we should be given a seat at the table as well. Cheers!

@@WheresWes Hmm for sure...this is interesting....yeah i think the feminist culture did go too far and has tried to suppress masculinity. I think there are a lot of women that can pay their bills, be very successful and also be very feminine... being able to take care of your self has nothing to do with femininity, It’s good to know that your woman is with you because she loves you, not because you pay everything for her, because a lot of women are with their husband because they don’t know how to earn money by themselves. I’m a Latin woman and I prefer helping my husband with the bills and build a dream together with the effort of both, maybe if we had children I would prefer just one of us working to have time for the kids, but knowing that your girl can take care of herself even if she is not working because of the kids it’s very valuable, she is there because she loves you not because of the money. Being with a woman just because she looks good on a bikini is really shallow, (just my opinion not trying to hate lol) even Sascha fitness is not fit all the time because there are life stages like pregnancy, depression, sickness etc and people criticize her for not being fit all the time, and Sascha is the most famous KZbinr in the fitness world in Latin America. So you should not put that bikini pressure on your girlfriend, if you want to have kids you have to accept that her body is going to change, she can go back to her original weight but she can have stretch marks that are not going to look that good on a bikini. I hope you understand my point and opinion, I pay for the bills and I consider myself a very feminine woman, and I’m not submissive in bed, even a girl that prefer her husband to pay por everything can be the same as me in bed lol nothing to do with the financial side... just don’t generalize women, we are really different in our own way so as men, I’m a Latin girl that owns her feminine side and likes to pay for her bills and I don’t want to have kids, and that doesn’t make me less feminine...Hope you have a nice day 🤟🏻✨ keep going with your Chanel! Is doing really good
@WheresWes3 жыл бұрын
I can see your point, and I am more arguing from the perspective of men rather than how women should be. I have no problem with my girl helping my pay the bills, but I don't think it's necessary. I think what you're doing is great and it's great that you carry yourself the way you do. As for the bikini thing, notice how I didn't say you have skinny but just be in shape. Especially because I value fitness and maintain a good body personally, I value this in a partner. I've been in a relationship with somebody who didn't take care of themselves and that didn't work for me, as I suspect most men don't like either. Pregnancies are an obvious exception. And I don't think this is shallow. Men value beauty where as women value competency in a man. I don't think it's shallow to expect your man to be able to pay the bills. You SHOULD demand that, it's our responsibility as men. You do what you want, more power to you! You can be what ever woman you want to be! My problem is more when women try to tell men how they should be, and vice versa. I'm not saying that women should be like this, but my opinion has obviously resonated with a lot of men so I feel like what I'm saying is accurate. Cheers, appreciate you.

I do agree, bottom line people can form their family unit however they want since it's their relationship. If a woman wants to be a "stay at home mother, cook, clean, etc." that's her prerogative, and if she wants to work and make bank, then that's her thing too. I'm of Latin American descent, born in the US, and just to clarify, Latinas are like that because they were not allowed to go to school (same for Asian, Middle Eastern, etc.). There role was to be someone's wife, whether they liked it or not. It appeals to most men because they get to have someone under their alpha wing (which can lead to misogynistic and womanizing tendencies). The women doesn't have a say, she's expected to be under the wing if a man. So that's why many "White" Americans (and others) tend to go to Latin and Asian countries to get women that don't get to choose their own path - molded to be just a wife. I see that with my older latina family members that come to america to teach their daughters not to live the life they lived. But the American is all about "power", so of course traditional values seems fitting because men get to assert power in many ways - financially, dependency, obligations, etc. Just like that video if that older white guy loving foreign Asian women because they do whatever he wants and they'll submit because it's "their culture/traditions". This is my two cents of what I analysed about the Latinas in my family (here in US and in Mexico), and I live in California, so I hear it from other ethnicities too (Asian, Pacific Islander, Middle Eastern women, etc.).
@WheresWes3 жыл бұрын
I think this is a good point because Mexican families are more traditional in the sense you are talking about. I've noticed that Latin is such a wide word to use because all of your countries have different cultures.

I think there is bias in these mens' perspective as well when lets be real: these Latinas they meet with no papers (not all, I understand) are somehow also naturally their ideal submissive woman. Going into 3rd world countries knowing the value they bring (U.S papers/European citizenship) are going to be signaling to these women who are going to receptive to their advances and act accordingly. This is not every case of course, but I have met in families of friends and my own of aunties who married a U.S citizen who visited their countries for a clear purpose: there is a dynamic which is born of necessity rather than desire. Children and a tended home for the chance to bring their own families to the U.S for their American dream. As long as it is clear to both partners, i don't view it as negative. A bit sad when it is realized that it is solely a transaction.

Great sharing. I think I would've liked to see your description/perception or definition of masculinity. What does it mean for you to be "manly", "a man" (in social cultural terms, although I understand it's probably a mix of biological/SC) Also, are you thinking about it as in a globalized definition, or is it for the US (from US), or for Latin America. Most are struggling in the US, so if they see someone with security, they gravitate to them. Just like here in US, my Latina cousins see white people as having money and having generational wealth, it's best to gravitate to them. Not always for the best reasons of course.

All very true. Ever since my divorce (February/March 2019), I’ve dated Latinas and all of your observations are spot on! When you get older (while single) you do acquire much wisdom and tend to see things clearly. What killed relationships is Uber feminism and Uber-capitalist materialism. An unhealthy combo for sure.

Thank you for saying all this brother. You're spot on about what men really want. Personally, since I live in America, I am refusing to date anyone at all. No girlfriend, don't want one. Rather not be manipulated, triangulated, and hurt. I'd rather just make money come home and cook my own food haha. I just made chorizo poblano quesadillas, I don't need no woman! But maybe after college though I might move countries and find a wife hahaha

@@majorpaindiaz it depends, feminism did play a major role in conditioning women to be masculine.. and men being conditioned to be feminine... the problem with it, is that women don't like feminine men, it's not attractive to them.. and men don't mind dating a masculine woman as long as they are attractive... but this has consequences.... especially for the children.... a family with two masculine parents has consequences... the children don't need a yelling and harsh mother who is so demanding and masculine.... they need a mother who is feminine, tender, nurturing, motherly, a mother who is a safe place to go if the children are hurt or wounded, a place where they can feel safe to cry, where they are told everything will be ok.... not the source of their pain, if children don't have that kind of model in their lives, then it can have it's own risks and consequences... the world needs the feminine as much as they need the masculine... and it's just sad how women today neglect their femininity....

I get what you what you were saying and even agree with you on some points. As a woman, I do desire a man who’s masculine and can lead and support a household. I have to admit I did cringe a little when you said you told your girlfriend she needs to look good in a bikini 🥴. But I respect the fact that you had that convo with her up front. I think where a lot of women have issues with men requesting that we look a certain way is when they look like complete slobs and have nothing to offer, yet expect to be a woman who’s a model. Hopefully you look just as good in trunks as she does in a bikini 😉. I’m currently located in Cali but will be in Medellin in March. Would love to connect and grab a coffee if you’re still around!

I think a lot of what you're saying stems from the entitlement of women in western society. Equality of outcome and equality of opportunity are very different things. You can see this in Finland for example when equality of outcome was forced, women and men actually spread even further across opposite ends of the income spectrum due to biological factors that impact occupational choices (women are interested in people, men are interested in things).
@kazzuo323 жыл бұрын
Ok i want to know why the submissive thing? Thats so weird . One thing I do know about Latin woman is that they are very family oriented and everything is about the wellbeing of the family but that have nothing to do with been submissive. And for sure they are femenin, and they like to take care of their love ones.

Some interesting points. I agree that equality is very important, yet....Due to the whole “abolishment of gender roles” thing, I think that women are victims of a culture that expects them to play a more masculine role. In the same way men are expected to be more feminine. This creates a toxic and confusing dating environment. I totally have felt the same way, about dating in the US. Good job finding a way out-enjoy life brother!
@WheresWes3 жыл бұрын
Yeah I think the the push for equality both genders have been pushed to do things out of our nature to prove something. Idk if it's for the better or worse.

Having similar double incomes is totally convenient and for that partners should work with each other in the house. There are no masculine nor femenine traits in that, nor in technical intelligence. Only discrimination out of fear, which still exists, more in Latino America (for the worse) and still in USA.
@carinakairs38753 жыл бұрын
I don't reject your opinion but I think that most people in your comments thinks that an independent woman isn't a woman 🤣. And that it makes us care less about love and family... But either way, not everyone finds happiness in the same way.

Very well articulated. I pretty much completely agree. Women shouldn't be oppressed, I'm still not 100% sure on how I feel about being complete equals. In some ways we should be treated the same, but in other ways I think that, like you said, men and women are just wired differently. And this isn't inherently a good thing or bad thing. Both genders have their strengths and weaknesses, and in general we should not go against the grain. Pretty much throughout history, men have been the providers, the protectors, the hunters; we're meant to be more dominant. Wheras the female was more tending towards the homelife. It has been like this for millions of years, why go against the grain? The increase in "feminism" has given a lot of women power; unprecedented power. And the power balance is shifted. You'd think that women would be happier with more power but like you said, men aren't looking for someone to compete with, nor is it paramount that they be with a "successful" woman. In general men are looking for someone who can take care of the house, someone more submissive. And all those words have a "weakness" connotation to it, but it's not a bad thing. Its just how it is, and probably, in general, most people would be happier if they played to their strengths instead of going against the grain. In this modern world power shift, men AND women are growing more unhappy with relationships/dating. I'm not saying its just the power shift/feminism/masculinity etc. life is way more complicated than that, but I do think it has a role in it. Of course this "opinion" will offend a lot of people, especially women, but through general observation and anecdotes, it seems to be pretty true.
