Hii Angel. I can totally relate. I've traveled on and off for 5 years and am so bored of solo travel life... I completely feel the "new things are the same" I've had the exact same thoughts. I'm craving a nice cozy home with stability, and then travelling with a significant other for about a month or two, then being able to return to my cozy home.

The approach that you describe really sounds very stressful. I am glad that you are figuring out a more suitable lifestyle for yourself. For me though being a 'digital nomad' means something very different. I wouldn't ever want to change countries every month. The very idea makes me shudder, it feels like fleeing from someone. For me, it is just the principle that I can change places and be independent because my work and income are online. But knowing how difficult it is to organize life in a new place - having moved to a different country a couple times - it is simply impossible to get an enjoyable experience when starting it all over again every 30 days.

My biggest frustration has been that other nomads seem so stressed busy a lot of the time and your video explains why. I'm financially stable thanks to passive income every month (I work on top of that, but not full time and it's not a disaster if something doesn't go as planned one month). I've had plenty of time to socialize and explore though but don't really care about the tourist stuff, I'm more interested in the everyday life of a new place. I intentionally chose countries with 90 day visa limits and accommodation where company was "included" meaning lots of other digital nomads to befriend that can show you their favorite places and help you if you get sick (which I never did but I helped some other people). So I guess I've been slowmading all along, and now I have a home base where I travel from for 1-3 months at a time.

I'm a pretty introverted person. And I'm not interested in traveling to make friends. I like just like traveling for the thrill and exploration and adventure. I rather not make connections or else I'll feel tied down and burdened by having to maintain that relationship. But i know most people are not like me. They need human connection. I agree with you about going to a new place every month. It's better to be there 2-4 months at a time. Also the type of job/work we have makes a big difference in the amount of freedom we get.

I'm so sorry you had to go through that. I had a friend that also didn't like traveling around different places in the world for a short period of time. It tired him out and he was a young person like you! I felt so sorry for you when you got the Dengue sickness. I'm just happy that you are now back home with your family and friends who love you. You will heal better than ever now. Thanks for sharing your experiences. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

I never lived the digital nomad life style but I had a job where I traveled a lot for work. I would leave home either late Sunday night or early Monday morning and not get back home until late Thursday night or sometimes not until Friday. I did this for about two and a half years where I was on the road at least 40 weeks a year. It got to the point that there were days I would wake up and it would take me a while to remember which city I was in that day. One time I was in Montreal for work for a day and then had to get on a plane and head to Chicago for the rest of the week before I came back home. I had come down with a bad cold while in Montreal and when I got to Chicago all I could think about was going to bed. Unfortunately I had a busy week planned as I was leading a training session for people that had come in from all over Canada and the US so I couldn't call in sick. Once I got home that week my whole weekend was basically spent sleeping and recovering. Then I had to get up early Monday morning and start it all over again. If there was a good part it was that I was working a full time job so I didn't have to worry about the financial aspect and because I was traveling for work, they paid for everything.

This is a VERY informative analysis, with some very objective points. There is a big difference between going on a PAID guided tourist trip, with PAID medical personnel and insurance coverage, people PAID to solve your problems as they come up, help and advice from people with actual local knowledge....compared to being absolutely alone with no friends, limited legal and medical rights, all room, eating, visa, and travel arrangements taking up much time to plan and solve, while trying to work many hours on line and with deadlines. Another sound point is the difference between one's amazement in first visiting a foreign town, market, beach, or museum, and walking into the SIXTH museum or being on the TWELFTH new beach in a year. Finally, companies who use independent contractors will often stiff their workers near the end of the contract, because they know it's tough to take their San Francisco start-up to court when you are living in Penang, Hanoi, or Bali. Very good synopsis of issues that are learned about the hard way!

The best travel advice we heard (before a vacation to Turkey) is to always assume you will go back to that place again later. That frees you of FOMO. Looking forward to your next visit to Vietnam!

My dad always told me to do it when you're young. Soon enough you'll have familial commitments. Kids and parents to take care of. And then you might be too old to travel. Your medical conditions might make you uninsurable and unable to meet entry requirements.

I can relate to that. I used to travel for work, and despite being shielded against some of your problems like logistics and care during a health condition, I would say that dream life style worn off after the first two years. It was always the same basic conversations (in Brazil and few other South American countries), always the same curiosity, always the same weekend vibe of going out to mingle with locals, etc. I would suggest for anyone looking for this life to at least stay a whole season at a specific ''city'' or you will be just be a load carrier for your work equipment. PS. Dengue fever almost killed me in 2010, it is good to know you recovered well. It took me more than 6 months to recover completely.

Good advice, this needs more attention. I tried it with my 5yr old in tow but then it got too much and I decided I needed a base country and I could go other places from there and return. But I get not wanting to see tourist attractions. Or do shopping, tou can't buy much anyway because you will have to carry it will you everywhere

As a Canadian who’s been trying Central America.. Canada is where I go to recover. Despite the problems, which, we all have to come together and fix, as opposed to run from. Now trying to figure out how to finance it. But hopping around has expenses that make it much the same.

I hope that you are in good health and enjoying your life. Suggestions for video content, and concerns while abroad: In order to help travelers in general, and Canadians in particular while traveling abroad, and since you are such a good communicator, I would like to suggest the following topics for you to address, if possible, please: The importance of having a will and power of attorney for both property and personal care. What if you get demented while living or traveling abroad without family or friends...who is going to decide for you during that critical moment? What to do if one has no family, wife or kids and start losing our memory while living abroad...should one see a lawyer regarding our assets, and other issues? How does one solve the issue of (yahoo, face book etc.) accounts passwords as well as credit cards PIN in case of sudden death abroad...should we contact a lawyer about the same? The importance of having a laminated card in your luggage with all the necessary, and very important contact information regarding the executor of your will and power of attorney, or any other major issue in case of sudden death abroad. The importance of having funeral arrangements made in case of sudden death while traveling abroad. What to do after having returned to Canada from a very long trip abroad concerning getting the OHIP benefits back again What are the options for doing and paying the yearly income tax return in Canada while traveling abroad? How to get your mail from back home while living and traveling abroad? The importance of advising your banks about your travels plans abroad so that your credit / debit cards don't get cancelled while you are traveling. The importance of having good antitheft luggage while abroad to keep you safe. The importance of having a hobby while retired to keep you busy. The importance of seeing a financial advisor in order to prepare for retirement. Outliving your retirement savings, and the impact of inflation on the monthly budget. The importance of seeing your family doctor for a physical check-up, and getting vaccinated against hepatitis, malaria etc. before going abroad. The importance of having more than one way of getting to your money while abroad. The importance of having travel medical insurance while traveling abroad and your (insurance company suggestions). Stay healthy, safe and thank you.

Slowmading is stupid, you better stay and work in your country and go on a trip or vacation every 3 months like I do. Whats the point of digital nomad to stay 6 months in 1 place. You not a real nomad then , you just someone who settles somewhere for half a year to then do 1 vacation and 2 trips before going to another place for 6 months, you gonne see less of the world then someone like me who works in his own country and tries to do a vacation or citytrip every 3 months. That way you dont get bored from traveling cause you been working 3 months and the travelperiod comes at the right time, its better then constantly traveling and better then constantly working. I got my own house at 30 of age, now 43, but i'm single and so also lonely. I travel alone and I also dont meet many people cause people my age mostly have family and are settled. I usually meet young people who are between 20 and 24 in flipflops thinking they know how the world turns. Hostels are starting to become replaced more by hotels lately cause you feel you getting to old to hang around with people 20 years younger then yourself. So yes travellife can be lonely, specially if you have friends at home who are not interested in traveling that much and who spend their money on material stuff. I'm alone at home , i dont have tv or netflix, only laptop with youtube and thats how today i got to your video by coincidence
