My guess would be that she quit her journalism job because it was low paying and she could make more money talking as a financial speaker, blogger, and podcaster.

Actually she quit her job because she had saved up enough money (through frugality) to travel the world. Being a financial speaker was something she just picked up along the way. Been following her for years and I'm so proud of her journey

It's amazing how more people don't come to this realization about these "financial advice" people on KZbin (and there are literally thousands of them). They're praying on idiots to line their pockets....do they actually think she got rich from not buying coffee from Starbucks?

Exactly, that could be the only explanation for a completely different avenue. It's sad that these influencers get so much attention. Maybe she paid CNBC to promote her business?

I'm 56 years old. Haven't owned a car for 15+ years. Haven't owned a TV for 10 years. I chose to sell my house and downsize to a small apartment. Making those life choices means that now, the only debt that I have is my student loan. I should point out that pinching pennies and downsizing meant I was able to live in 5 countries in the past 20 years. I'm currently at university to earn a Master's degree, as well. The education and the travel meant far more to me than: owning a car, a house, a TV, and living the typical American lifestyle.

This was very basic and straightforward. Thanks for this. However, if you're a man in a relationship, might be hard to do unless you're with a partner that is equally frugal.

Funny you say that because I am female and it is my male partner that spends more frivolously.. and no, not on me or because of me spending less.

this world is f up to the teeth. Now journalists want to explain all people of the entire world how to run their lives and how the world turns. what went wrong? a message to journalists of today: keep on reporting, not acting, that is different. There are enough actors out there.
