#oldschoolskateboarding #skateordie #skateboarding It's time to ditch the old school skateboard and stick with the modern popsicle. It's better suited for the skateboarding I want to do. I am stoked to have a super rad cruiser and Filmer set up though. Putting on my OJ Keyframes 87A’s and it's gonna be sick!
I'm so GRATEFUL ☺️ for all of you that have been subscribing! The movement is almost up to 2,000 SHREDDERS! 🤯 I'm really blown away by the support and love and thank you all for taking a chance on me! So much more content on the way and I really want this to be a sharing and supportive community. KEEP SHREDDING!!! ❤️ 🛹🔥🤟
Welcome to my journey It hasn't been easy and life has a way of getting in the way. But I pushed through all the BS and shed 60 pounds and have been progressing at a steady rate. I'm so excited to take you all along on this journey and I hope it inspires you to get back on your board. Please join me, like, subscribe and stay tuned for more skateboarding! It's been a long time off the board and I just wanted to share my experience for anyone looking to get back into skateboarding or even if you're new to it. I've missed skateboarding so much and after weight gain among other life issues skating just took a far back seat. Well my friends the time for regret is over because I'm back and loving it. I'm just a little bit older and heavier but with a healthy diet, exercise and skateboarding back in my life the pounds are melting off and flexibility and strength are coming back. Let's connect in the comments! 😊❤️🛹

I'm 37 and got back into skateboarding a month ago. Enjoying every moment of it. Trying to revive my muscle memory and confidence on landing all the tricks and gaps I used to hit as a teenager. I've been an active seasonal snowboarder though for around 10 years and overall try and stay fit and athletic and that really helped with my skateboarding progress. But honestly you're never too old to start. And you're not getting younger. So if you can't accept the thought that you'll never skate again in your life then go get a board and shred. Just ride within your physical limits and try progress with small and safe steps.

Hey Scott just checking in again. Glad to see you still at it. Love the vibe. I took this up in my early 50's and went from a 10 inch board to an 8.5 and now to a 9.25. Still really just working on ollies but for riding I do like the wider platform a bit. Keep going brother!

When I started back, I was skating older school wide shaped decks… but most of them seemed funky and too flat, especially the nose and tail. I was constantly sliding one foot or the other off when I attempted new things. I’m riding 8.25-8.5 right now and I like them.

i am 48 years old and started skateboarding again last year after 20 years. all the kids ride wider boards now but i got myself a classic 8" popsicle and i am pretty happy with it. i ride dragon wheels and they absorb some impact and ride great. yesterday i bruised my heel on a three stair, so three weeks break i guess :/ keep up the good work with your channel!

Rad man, welcome back! Yeah I had to go classic mid 90’s popsicle. We grew up with the old school and that was fun during that era. Get better dude, I got some FP Insoles and those things are really good actually.❤🛹🤘

@@scottskateboarding thank you for the suggestion, i got the insoles now. i didnt find them to be softer as the ones that were inside my etnies marana but maybe i have to warm them up more. another week and i can try to skate again (i hope) and test them.

I got out yesterday for an hour and my foot feels no worse than it did before the sesh so I’ll take that as a win. I attempted the No Comply 180 pivot thing we discussed that you do soooo smoothly. I need to work on timing and the rotation but stoked to be trying something new. Take a butch at my No Conply short edit if you wish. Also landed a 360 shuvit off the nose that I haven’t done since 92 so well pleased with that. Keep inspiring!

I thought almost all of us GenX 49+ older skaters went 100% back to the football shapes "bLind" era shaped decks.. ~i for sure went popsicle when i unretired at 40 but nostalgia was too powerful not that we can afford to track down our favorite OG decks from 88-91.. ~I recently had A NewDeal Reissue & a LanceMountain Firm deck.. Since we don't use rails anymore it's painful to see it get got but such is our life.. ;D

@@CT-nb5lm,when I started up again around 6 years ago after my short 25 year break I bought a pop and other than 1 bowl shape purchase that I don’t really tide I have gone through a whole series of different width popsicles. My 1st pro set up in 89 was a XXX Edd Gein with little concave and very little nose, they have now reissued that same deck and it’s one I want to get and hang for nostalgic reasons. My last 90’s deck before I stopped in 92 was a Tony Hawk with the small hawk silhouette and signature, that nose was ridiculous in length compaired to the XXX. As a force of habit/OCD I’ve never not skated with rails although I can’t claim to ever being a great board slider 🤣🤘🏻

I started again in 2020 and have been at is since. Not new been a skater since age 8. I can't stand 80s boards to ride, there's a reason it went to popsicles and it made skating much easier by the early 90s. I can't stand seeing people trying to skate 80s boards honestly, those things are tanks. But skate what you want.

Yeah my great aunt worked at a factory in the 70’s making the mass produced modern day equivalent penny boards. I got one in ‘76 knee boarder for a few years. Fast forward to ‘84 got a Santa Cruz special edition 10.5 Indy 169’s & oj’s. I skated through the whole entire evolution of skateboards and early 90’s popsicle was deemed through function and popular consensus to be the most efficient. I feel similarly as a filmmaker when I see kids filming standard definition camcorders now and thinking they’re cool. When reality is it’s clunky and awkward. But that’s the nostalgia factor that I could really careless about. But like grandma always said to each their own…🤷🏽‍♂️

@@scottskateboarding.... I will reveal exactly what happened to the skateboard and why the industry did it.... Boards got smaller for a deliberate reason and it is not the reason that you are claiming even if you skated through the whole Change-Up of skate which I also did....
