LUMIX is part of the L Mount system. This includes Sigma, Leica, DJI (they don’t produce lenses), and Leitz Wetzlar which is considered first party since they use the same lens protocol. Outside of that there are third party lenses on the L Mount that include Venus Laowa, Nisi, 7artisans, TTartisans, Meike, Meyer-Optik Gorlitz, and Kipon. So, yea you have options. Sigma also produces the MC-21 which allows auto focus of Canon EF lenses.

I switched from Canon to Sony ,and just purchased the LUMIX G7 last week. Sunday, I shot video content for a beautician and was shocked with the results from a camera and the kit lens released 8 years ago. I would have like to have 4K60, but it was not needed. I am going to pair the G7 with the Sigmas and that will be my everyday camera .

I just recently bought the GH6 a few weeks ago and have never had a camera as advanced as this. I know there are some cons to every camera but i wanted something with no overheating issues that could record and take pics forever. i mostly needed something for making guitar videos and home studio recording. With a dummy battery setup and SSD recording i have more than what I asked for. With an adapter I'll even be able to use my older vintage lenses too. Great entry level camera and easy to use.

Great choice on the GH6 for unlimited recording. I did buy it as well but returned it for the G9 II after Mathew's recent review, especially on the autofocus, which was what tipped my decision. For unlimited recording I think you made a great choice with the GH6.

I bought a GH6 when it was on sale last year; I gotta say, the auto focus is not bad at all. I know people rip on it all the time, but I have plenty of different video types: talking head, vlog, nature, etc. I have been pleasantly surprised that it barely ever loses focus.

Color science and Ibis is awesome on Panasonic cameras. I sold my GH5 and bought a Sony A7iv. This was largely because of the improved autofocus, but don't like the colors at all, nor the menus. If they come out with a S1H mark 2 I might be tempted to be a panny boy again.

Dude just thick and thin for me and Lumix over here haha. The autofocus is killer on the S5iiX! The 4k 60fps crop is the most annoying part of it but when using the 35mm lens it turns into a 50mm so it isn't that bad

I believe the EVA-1 is not part of the Lumix division. I agree with you though. I hope that the Canon C70 and Sony FX 3 show that making a more cinema type body is profitable. Films like"The Creator " were filmed on the FX 3. I have seen the S1H on feature film sets where they needed something with high ISO. It'd be cool if Panny made an S1 R2 for high end photography, then just go all in with the S1H2. Cinema body, kitchen sink of features. I'd be down for that.
@MatthewDangyou

Dude yes! And yeah I knew the EVA1 wasn’t there division but still would be real nice to have basically the GH6 or S5iiX with ibis, built in NDs if possible, and all the other bells and whistles too in a dedicated cinema body

If a camera brand defines your vision, we might have a problem. I think filmmaking is a journey, not a destination. I think people's fixation with the end results might be hurting they personal creative growth. I think that is what has always made Sony cameras so successful. For me it's about having a camera that is miles above my capability. One that lets me grow and learn. When I want "perfect" everything, I just use my phone.
@MatthewDangyou
@MatthewDangyou Жыл бұрын
For sure! That is why I made the points of buying a camera to grow into, and buying the right camera for the right job. The Lumix cameras have always come down to it been a personal choice for me with great video features and now good autofocus. But people are really spending probably to much time on what camera or settings they use and less about what the composition of a shot looks like

Hello, my gh5 has no AF issues in daytime, general use, no stresstests. I am an amateur. 😉 In lowlight it may go AWOL, but there is FCP. Final argument now, you don’t buy Sony for its IBIS. I learned how and when to use my GH5. AF on its own is no reason to upgrade to mk2 or GH6. Other reasons? Depends on my personal development 😊😂

Hi there, I’m considering going from the R6 to the S5IIX for hybrid shooting. However, the excellent AF & tracking on the Canon, especially on the PHOTO side has me hesitating. However I know LUMIX just release a firmware update with improvements to their AF. So I’m wondering if this will compare it to the Canon AF at all? Any suggestion on which way to go?
@MatthewDangyou
@MatthewDangyou 4 ай бұрын
Honestly with all the feature, value, the improvements on autofocus just says that Lumix will be continue putting more and more improvements. Canon kinda doesn’t want to give everything to their “lower end cameras” to protect their cinema line. Now if all you care about is photos Canon is a great camera. But if you do care about video lumix autofocus is amazing and it is the worst now that it will ever be again. It just keeps getting better and better. They just released a firmware update with ever more improvements so I would say make the switch for sure👍🏻

One thing people dnt talk about...the lumix s is mostly for the newcomers and not videography business owners... outside of uk n usa, the aftersales support is non existant...the bodies and lens dnt retain much value either..after 1 year of ownership my s5 went from 2000$ to 900$ 😂 even my p4k retain the value of 900$ when i sold it after 3 years 😅 do the new af system have tracking? 😅
@MatthewDangyou
@MatthewDangyou Жыл бұрын
Yeah that is a fair point but selling a Sony camera would have a similar issue because they just release so many new cameras. Black magic bodies don’t get a ton of replacement cameras. And yeah the S5iiX does have tracking built into it

@@MatthewDangyou oh really? Nooo..do you see fx3 or a7s3 being cheap? Not at all... 2nd hand Fx30 are even selling higher than retail prices lol... that's because the bodies are in high demand and not outdated even with sony new toy...
@MatthewDangyou
@MatthewDangyou Жыл бұрын
@@ludovicavice3496 Yeah but imagine a FX30ii comes out and then suddenly the FX30 will drop in price since the demand is lower. Plus if they start supplying it way more right now then the prices will drop. In that example the supply is low therefore the demand is high. The Supply is high on the S5 and the demand is low therefore the price is low. It is all supply and demand that effects the prices. The moment cameras release any newer model that "replaces" the older model the value will drop extremely fast. That is why the black magic pocket cameras like the 4K and 6K have great sell value since they haven't made a mark 2 pocket 4K camera to replace the original MFT pocket 4K camera.

Honesty it just depends on preference. Like I don’t like Sony menu systems, or colors. Plus investing into L mount cameras allow you to adapt to any camera lenses like Ef, pl, etc. the menu systems are streamed lined between all cameras too. And on top of all that Lumix firmware updates there cameras while Sony makes “new cameras” but basically just sells the exact same camera with a different logo and updated firmware. This is really where Panasonic have been hurt pretty badly (and unfairly) by the dynamics of the market. Their cameras are aimed at semi-professional or prosumer filmmakers. Filmmakers care about absolute image quality, but don't care about autofocus, because filmmakers don't use autofocus, period. However a weird thing has developed over the years, where the market's attitude to cameras in the semi-professional and prosumer field are almost entirely driven by the opinion of popular KZbin content creators, specifically ones whose primary or sole focus is on reviewing gear, not actually making content. Their only use case for gear is filming themselves reviewing other gear, and if you're on your own, filming yourself, the one thing you really really need is... reliable autofocus. So suddenly a feature that the target market of these cameras doesn't even use becomes the litmus test for whether it's a good product or not.
