It’s a great way to support the channel. Update- I have removed the rear tank and added an air coupler right to the compressor. It is still very slow. Id recommend the twin instead or go with a c02 setup. Update 2! - I have moved the compressor to a harbor freight “pelican style” case and it is now a portable unit. The single ARB compressor, for either model, isn't designed to fill and keep a tank like that at pressure. It was designed for the military as a "just in time" application for direct air feed to the accessory or for filling tires. It's duty cycle states its intended use. Besides that, love the idea. Checkout the MorrFlate kit wiwth the digital regulator. It not only fills all tires at once but regualtes them all as well. If you run out of CO2 offroad, hook up all 4 tires to the Morrflate and engage the valve and it will pull air from the 3 tires to balance the 4th. I have no affiliation with MorrFlate just my personal experience with their kit.

Interesting video enjoyed it very much. I think I’ll stick with my do ARB air compressor know the tank does air up your tires quicker for sure sometimes when I’m on trips I’m airing up and down multiple times which means there wouldn’t be enough air in the tank to do the job granted my air compressor takes a little longer but when I’m going from trails to Highway and back to trails again it just has the advantage for that application.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Tanks are nice as well, however, with a single compressor, I can air four tires up in about 6 minutes and some change and not be drenched in the rain. @@Adv4x4 After I left my comment I realized it's probably just the female coupler that attaches to the male threads on the end of the air hose, but for some reason when you mentioned it in the video, and didn't refer to it as the "coupler", I thought it was an inline filter or maybe a regulator of some sort. Mystery solved. Thanks for the reply, though.

The main thing I've noticed with the air systems ive had starting with a kline on board air system and then adding the second pump to it, all to ditch those pumps and go twin arb is that this isn't going to compete with your high pressure tanks but I can easily fill 44 inch tires if needed but none of the kits really include a proper aux tank . The onboard air kit came with a 2.8 gallon tank and ran it through 1/4 > Inch hose . I upgraded to 3/4 inch hose between the air lines and aux tank along with larger air hose from arb pumps to the tank and fill times decreased by a min each on 35s, next I just simply added a 5 gallon aux tank inside and when I'm pulling over to air up tires it takes next to no time to fill but decreased the time to air up tires and also have me enough air quantity and pressure to feel comfortable reseting a beed without fire if I get a flat
@Rocscrawler
@Rocscrawler 3 жыл бұрын
Have you ever done a test to see which method of airing up your tires last longer between air-ups? When I used power tanks and didn't wheel for over two weeks afterwards, my tires would bleed back down to the 18 psi I had them aired down to. The CO2 I re-inflated them with would seep out and I would need to re-inflate them with garage/shop air. CO2 molecules are smaller than regular air and seep out much faster. Nitrogen is the largest. That's why everybody want's nitrogen these days. It stays in the tires even longer than air before needing looked at.
@jusimplicit
@jusimplicit 3 жыл бұрын
Refilling with CO2 is always temporary. Coming from a Cycling background even before off-roading the first to do if you get back home if you had to fix a flat and do a quick shot of CO2 to refill is to purge the CO2 out and Reinflate with a good ol hand pump

That compressor was never meant to be used with a big air tank since it only has 50% duty cycle. It has to work really hard to keep that tank filled at the right pressure. Also, with the air tank, you are using up the compressed air faster than it can refill. You would have seen a lot better results with the twin and that air tank. Even the single compressor without the air tank would have performed better I think.

@Adv4x4

I would imagine extreme heat could trip the safety valve and cause the tank to empty. I'm no expert but common sense would say that is plausible. With that being said I have had no issues with mine in the summer months. As you could assume storing a tank like this in the passenger compartment itself isn’t advised. I would mount to exterior or keep in a truck bed.

The ARB single compressor is intended to pump up a tire reasonably quickly, not fill a large storage tank. To fill a storage tank you would need a twin cylinder compressor. The CO2 tank is holding CO2 at 3500PSI, so ofcourse it will inflate faster than a compressor. Shop air comes from a large storage tank, fed by a very big high volume compressor, and delivers air through about 3/4" lines. There is no way to compare those with any compressor..
@Adv4x4
@Adv4x4 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the input! I have since removed the tank and the single arb compressor is still lack luster for the $ in my opinion. It’s all personal preference. It’s still on the truck as my backup air and it will get the job done. When I was in Colorado airing up in the pouring rain before headed to Utah I sure was glad to have that c02 tank do the job quickly. As I’ve stated in the comments a twin would have done me better from the beginning. If I had any advice to give from this it’s spend the extra $ on the twin from the beginning.

@@donpaterson2397 Room temperature is approximately 70-80 F.. That is where the manufactures that make these compressors suggest is the OPTIMAL operating temp's. When I see air cooling fins on a motorcycle that does not have a radiator / electric fan, I DO NOT let is sit in the middle of the Sahara Desert at 150 degrees, idling and not moving, no air crossing these cooling fins by actually driving the vehicle, and then call the vehicle CRAP when the motor seizes up due to inadequate cooling. I have read/watched many write-ups / videos that say "this" or "that" compressor is crap because it only lasted 3 months before it fell apart. They are too STUPID to realize that when mounted under the hood or beside their exhaust pipes, that compressor turns on and starts working 100 degrees ABOVE it's HIGHEST recommended operating temps. Then it kicks off because it's too hot. They let it cool off for 10 minutes and turn it on again for 1-2 minutes before it kicks itself off again due to overheating. THEN THEY CALL THE COMPRESSOR CRAP!!! I just know that when I see air cooling fins on ANY piece of equipment, it needs air moving across those fins in order to cool properly!!
